yeah....instead of top 3 money, skal will get top 10 money

That's still a lot of money lost.

Maker obviously wants nothing to do with college and is probably too dirty to play it anyhow. There are a lot of players in similar situations, at least in terms of not wanting to go to school. Either get serious about these rules and raise the minimum requirements or let the kids decide for themselves. Why continue this charade?

KU fans can't be happy, if he jumps. Many were thinking he'd be on campus next year.

The NBA doesn't care about if these kids are serious about school, so why would they raise it?

They can decide for themselves. They aren't forced to go to college. They could play overseas a year or play in the d-league a year. There are options where the kids can make actual money playing professionally.

When he decided to play the extra year in prep school and went another year without committing to a school I was pretty sure something like this would happen.

D-League money is **** and most guys aren't going to leave the country for just a year, but I'm sure you knew that before you typed your post.

It literally cost Skal millions of dollars.

Either let them go or make it at least 2 years. This is just silly.

Again...

John Wall
Demarcus Cousins
Brandon Knight
Terrance Jones
Anthony Davis
MKG
Noel
WCS
Kat
Murray

We would look silly without these guys.

We all want 2 years, but i cannot get over the thinking of people being for OAD to go straight to pros if they dont change the rule.

It is hard enough to win with the best of the recruits versus older teams, now YOU want to do it with 2nd tier recruits...?

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

An unexpected burn would be Diallo jumping even though Self tried his best to keep him glued to the bench.

Thought he already decided to make the jump. Was thinking I read that somewhere here last week. May be mistaken though.

False. It would even out. Cal (and others) would still get the best available recruits who actually want to go to college. Then you wouldn't have freshmen vs. "older teams" as you put it, those freshmen would stick around more. The college game was just fine before the rule was in place.

I do support the 2 year rule over letting them go straight from high school btw.

The college game?

How about UK, us?

How many years does it take us to even out?

People complain about Cal losing one game and you want to to take 3-4 seasons to get back on top?

And by the way, you sign a bunch of those lesser 5 stars that will return, you wont get that many the next year and even fewer the following year.

Simply an awful take.

You have hated the OAD since Cal arrived. Not saying you hate Cal in anyway.

But you have been clear regarding your dislike.

It makes no sense whatsoever, you talk in regards to changing the past, "should have never gotten to this point" - not going to happen.

Reality.

And reality for UK and our situation would not be pretty if we couldnt get the best of the best and compete every year like we have been almost every year since Cal arrived.

If this sets precedent, the college game will be dead with all the one and done kids going straight into the league.

It would have "evened out" a long time ago.

Calipari would still get the best available recruits (how do you miss this?), more than almost any other coach, just like he does now. You wouldn't be living (and dying) from class to class and you're not forcing kids into a situation they don't want to be in. Still, I'm playing devil's advocate here, as I prefer making it two, even three years.

So basketball and FOOTBALL players should be able to enter the pros straight out of high school?

Darryl

Thought I made it clear I'm more in favor of EXPANDING the minimum requirements.

If you're indirectly asking if I prefer the football rules over the basketball rules, absolutely I do. For those like Brian saying "what about UK?" (and I'm accused of being selfish) Kentucky basketball would be like Alabama football under those circumstances. How awful...

It would make basketball as popular as baseball; no one would follow it. It generally is football centric fans that want this nonsense. However, when one asks if it should also be FAIR for football players; they scream "God no!!!, not football!!"

They're still options available. These kids aren't forced into anything except sitting out of the actual NBA until they're 19 or a year out of high school.

many said the same thing when guys like jennings and mudiay went overseas for the 1 year.

college is still the best option for improving your brand. if you pick the right school/coach.

With the way self improved Diallo so much, it must of been a tough decision between Kansas and the d league.

Here is where I disagree.

College basketball for UK pre Cal with and without the OAD was not excellent for several years.

Cal will not get the absolute best of the best when he has 3-4 starters returning every year.

We struggle with current teams now with the absolute best.

We all agree with the 2 years, it is your straight to the NBA model that would cost us for the first few years and possibly longer.

Say for instance this year's class is the first that could go straight to the league.

We would be signing a high 4 star PG and SG, and a lower 5 star PF as Fox, Monk, and Bam would surely go.

We would get killed this year vs solid veteran teams.

Next year, we have these same kids and say WG and SKJ leave.

We really only have the 2 spots open. The other top recruits will still go where there is playing time.

The 3rd year, we still have these 4 stars while other teams in the past 3 years had the following:

Veteran clubs in year one.

Veteran club plus a couple of 5 stars.

Veteran club plus more 5 stars.

By then we are a veteran club with our 4 stars and couple of 5 stars just like everyone else.

Just like pre Cal.

I havent forgotten those days, I never want to see a jump straight to the league for selfish reasons and I have yet to see any UK fan make a quality case for it.

First up. this is gay. I want to see as much talent in college as possible. 2nd up. The poster saying kids should be able to go straight to the NBA again......Yeah. Apparently you aren't a true fan of college basketball or you wouldn't have said something so ignorant dawg. This has made college basketball so much better, and if they put in a 2year rule. College basketball will be even more awesome (awesomer???) LOL I'm playing. But yeah bruh. That's dumb as hell. The straight to the NBA rule will NEVER be reinstated. And most likely the 2 year rule WILL be instated. So......BOO YAH!!!!!!!!!! But I was interested to see Mr. Maker in college. Kid's got a lot of talent.

That's because our coaches sucked. Cal is a thousand times better than late era Tubby and always drunk Billy.

And I don't know how many times I have to tell you that Cal has to keep doing what he's doing, playing the hand (one and done) that he's been dealt. It's too late now and Cal is simply using the rules that are in place AS HE SHOULD. That doesn't mean you have to like the rules. Just ask him yourself.

But yeah. Bas decision by Mr. Maker. Or by the people who OWN him. Seriously these f'ing handlers are outta freaking controle man. The kid needs to make his own choices. Not the parents or the handlers. A kid's family will push him on the league even if he isn't ready to go just so he can buy momma a big ole house, take care of sister(s) 8 kids and her crack addiction, etc, etc, etc. Skal for example. I mean does anyone really think he's ready to go to the league? Nope but his handler's sitting back thinking "Yeah I'm finally about to cash in on this black kid" "After so many years I'm finally about to cash in" "Yep I got it made" Its messed up man.
