Did Bolden commit to UK?

Based on speaking with Fox, Monk and Bolden himself, I don't think he's coming.

This would freak me out some, but here lately when it comes to recruiting, it seems most kids want their announcement to be somewhat of a surprise, even though most of the time it gets leaked beforehand. I think he will decide on Kentucky, but he is going to tell everyone pro Duke talk to get everyone thinking it's going to be Duke and then when he announces for Kentucky, we are all surprised. I think he's been a Kentucky guy after we landed Fox, Monk and Bam. If you are a true low post player that wants to play down low, you come to Kentucky. We have Bam to play with Bolden. Bam adds the muscle to our frontcourt. I think Bam and Fox will be the most two important pieces as to why Bolden decides on Kentucky in the end.

It sucks that this particular class was really really bad for big men. I want to get mad at Cal for putting all his low post scoring eggs in the Bolden basket....but Bolden and T.J. leaf are the two big post scorers in this class we tried on both and may strike out on both....not much more Cal can do. I guess pray a 5th year graduate transfer becomes available.

Fox told me how freaking excited he was to play with a loaded roster. Bolden makes this an insane team.

I think you may be right though about not wanting their moment to get taken away. Fox and Monk have been hard on him but Ban said he doesn't bother Bolden and just gives him his space.

Seems like if he was leaning to UK you wouldn't be hearing about the UK recruiting him so hard.

If Duke returns everyone but Ingram AND brings in the class they have plus Bolden - wow, that's scary. Have to play the games but I'd want no part of Duke.

One of Hump and Tai was a mistake. Cal wanted another big body on this years team and when it was clear Tai wasn't coming until mid year he scrambled and took Hump. It's going to hurt us for the next few years unless one leaves. We now have 2 guys who do the exact same thing.

Missing on Bolden will put us in about the same hole we were in this year. We will have an athletic PF with not a high skill level like a Towns. Then Hump/Tai/Lee at Center? That's depressing.

Not unless he grows. He is listed at 6'9 and I have been told he's not even that tall.

As I mentioned earlier, Kentucky will not go into next year with that frontcourt. I think Humphries will be a good player, but Bolden or not, I'm predicting they add another back to the basket player.

Good lord, a massive 6'8/6'9 guy can absolutely play center in the NCAAs. Come on now.

And again... there is often a lot of "change of heart" leading up to a decision, especially when it appears settled one way or another.

Possibly Jared Allen? Where do we stand with that dude?

Bolden can play center in college but he will NOT play center in the NBA. He's a PF without a doubt.

I believe there's a guy named Isaac Humphries on the roster.

:joy::joy::joy:

goes from not playing to legitimate high level low post threat in one off season......... Yeah you are definitely thinking with your heart and not your brain here bud.

This fight over Bolden is interesting, but UK and Duke had mediocre and poor defenses respectively. For either team to go much further next year, they will have to improve in that area. If Duke loses Thornton as rumored that hurts as he was a good perimeter defender. Jefferson back helps, but the freshmen bigs will be key. If they can play strong defense they will be a title threat, but if not, I see them having a strong offense and weak defense again. If we keep Briscoe that helps us, but if our new bigs aren't strong defensively I have a hard time expecting us to be much better. I think we will be able to put good pressure on guards, but who are our frontcourt defensive stoppers?

I would happily play Duke if I have fast/athletic guards and an athletic frontcourt. Their backcourt offensively is going to be good--but how did Allen do against UK this year? The guards UK will have next year are bigger/more athletic. Let things play out before you make an opponent someone you "want no part of".

More importantly--sometimes a "miss" in recruiting is a godsend and forces you to look in another direction that is needed more then you thought. Not saying Bolden won't be a Cat either-just saying let the entire offseason/recruiting period play out before assessing next season.

Yeah because big men can never develop in the offseason or anything. I'm not saying he would be Demarcus Cousins, but he can definitely be a 10 and 7 guy in the frontcourt, and showed signs in some games later in the regular season. He is fundamentally sound, and can rebound well already, and I think in the offseason he will become much more polished with his back to he basket. I will say that by the time he leaves Kentucky, he will be a better pro prospect than Dakari Johnson.

As we stand now, our best lineup next year will probably look like:

Bam
Willis
Wenyen
Monk
Fox

Rim running board crasher in Bam. Floor spacing with Willis. Rangy defender in Gabriel. Elite, athletic backcourt.

Poythress and Lee are 10 and 7 type guys. Where did that get us. We need bigs that can be elite so we can try and win us a title.

That's the easiest call in the world to make. Only one team wins a title. Even the best team only has a 20-30% shot most years.

We will be one of those teams in the mix.

When Monk committed to us numerous posters on this board had us penciled in as the champs. What happened in the last 24 hours, did Bolden get bumped up to the #1 player in the country?

I never had us penciled in as champs, so talk to those other people.

I think we have a chance to be the best team by March. I hope we steal enough games in November and December to protect a good seed.

Hence why I specified "numerous posters" and not you specifically. Last post was actually in response to the poster you replied to anyway.

funny thing about that -
and that's what gets me - all but one year, we've been in the mix, but it's not good enough for some
there are no absolutes, but too many UK fans think there should be.

Dammit poytress just stepped out of bounds walked and got stripped at the same time

You have 3 messages since 2007 and this is one of them? Really? Lol

You spell Alex's last name the way my grandmother pronounces it. She says Tommie Hilfinger too. And Ellen Degenerate.

You couldn't be more obvious.

We're gonna get Bolden I believe. But if something crazy happened I think Cal would get Ayton to reclassify. And we all know Ayton>>>>>>>Bolden.
