Starts with the coach not getting the most out of these guys. Same has sorta happened with Roy Williams at Carolina and he's not getting the one and done talent anymore. Hard to believe the last one and done over there was Brandan Wright. Self and KU could face similar issues soon enough.
But haven't you visited the Heels board ? Ole Roy doesn't want the one & dones . Doesn't even bother to recruit them . lol

How much burn did Jeter get this year? Let's face it, players are ranked at least partially on long-term potential and competitive teams can't afford to waste their seasons on players who aren't ready. Lots of us were upset that Diallo wasn't playing but Lucas' play has vindicated Self. Bragg will be very good next year. Diallo may not come back.

Oh yeah. I forgot Roy prefers the multi-year guys now. How silly of me!

I won't visit UNC boards but maybe once every few months. I've already lost a number of brain cells over the years and am afraid I'd lose more if I went to read what their fans had to say more often than that :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Didn't get much admittedly. He was nowhere near close to ready, especially at the start of ACC play. He's gotten better, but as I'm sure you could see, he wasn't ready to be much more than 8 to 10 minute a game guy. I agree with your assessment of the Kansas players. Lucas has been terrific defensively and I fully expect Bragg will be a beast. I'd say Diallo would be back, but it's not a strong draft class this year and he may decide that teams may take a shot on his perceived potential. But it's a good thing for him (and others on the fence) is he can declare, do some workouts, get feedback and decide what the best course of action would be. He wouldn't have had that option a year ago

Bragg wasted a yr at KU. If I was a 1 and diner no way I'd go to KU

Yeah because Bragg should have started over Ellis. [eyeroll]

When Bragg committed he knew there were slim chances of starting day 1 because of Ellis. He knew his 2nd year would be his year to play. Bragg isn't jumping to the NBA.

Diallo shouldn't go but I expect he'll test waters and then go from there. He was in no way ready to play. He had moments but he was constantly out of position on offense and defense, didn't know how to play D without fouling, and has a tendency to try and shoot turnaround jumpers and 18 foot jumpers the second he touches a ball.

Selden should have probably will go pro. His stock probably won't improve from what it is now.

Dislike that if it's true. And if it is true, he should say "Sorry to disappoint you, mom, but I'm going to Michigan State because it's my decision and my life."
I agree. Although not sure if you know this but you've also described the Bolden situation :) He wants Kentucky, parents want Duke.

We will have a year like 2012 and 2015, a few elite teams at the top and everyone else - UK, KU, Duke, MSU

The rumor from MSU fans is that Jackson's mom wants KU, but he wants MSU. No idea if it's true or not, of course, but funny reading that after it was said his mom shut down Calipari from recruiting him.

LOL that's ALWAYS the rumor when it's down to 2 teams...how many times have our fans said that about a player choosing between UK and another school

Marcus Lee was ranked higher in his class than Bragg. Did Cal stash him away and then fail to develop him? Bigs go to KU because give Self 2 or 3 years with them and they become lotto picks like TRob, Aldrich, Withey, and Morris Twins - only Aldrich was a Mickey D. Or they go from 4 star to NBA draft selections like Darnell Jackson, Tarik Black, and Sasha Kaun. Or they go from raw 4 star recruit like Joel Embiid to top 3 pick.

Where in the world do you get this from? Frank is a good student and wants his degree so how can you make this kind of a statement.

Why do Kansas fans seem to want their players to return after they've had career-best seasons in college and placed themselves in a position to be drafted?

Do you guys like holding players back for another year?

Cal would have slit his own wrists before he played Traylor and Lucas more than guys like Alexander and Diallo. Hell, he played Skal the majority of the starting minutes for about half the season this year, and continuously tried to work him into the rotation even when it was clear he wasn't physically ready for the college game. That's the difference between Cal and Self, and it's also the reason Self has had to convince multiple players to return when they probably could have been drafted. He lives off returning players more than any coach this side of Roy Williams.

Why shouldn't Diallo go? He's still a first round pick and will likely receive word that he's a guaranteed first round pick. Would you rather he return and risk injury so Kansas can pad a few more wins next season versus being a guaranteed millionaire?

Sounds like Self plays the best 5 guys regardless of status----also, his goal is to win games for Kansas. Sounds like he tries to do his job to the best of his ability.

Svi is not being held back, nor is he a bust. The kid just turned 18 in June. He is the youngest player on the Kansas roster, despite being a sophomore. . He came to Kansas at 17. Whenever he leaves, he'll go 1st round. The kid will be just fine.

Dude is ultra talented, but damn, his behavior on the court is little much for me. Slamming a ball into another's guys chest, non stop talking....he just looks like a a lot of trouble! I know all Alpha dogs have a swagger, but not a big fan of his.
Yeah, Heaven forbid a kid these days plays with fire and a chip on his shoulder! Personally I love that type of stuff, it wins ball games as long as its kept in certain parameters. Its been part of the game since the beginning of time and it always will be.

You are on an anti-Kansas tirade today. You're fuming on every thread with the word Kansas in it. Something tells me your bracket had KU losing in the second round.

Poythress, skal. Lee, Harrison twins, dakari, briscoe....
Sure. We've had some guys projected as one-and-done and they haven't turned out that way. That's kind of normal though; and Cal gave all of those guys plenty of playing time and ample opportunity to prove themselves.

But on the flip side there's Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, Knight, AD, Kidd-Gilchrist, Teague, Noel, Goodwin, Randle, KAT, Murray, Skal will (surprisingly) probably still be a first round pick... am I leaving somebody out?

Versus

Henry, Wiggins and Embiid. I may be leaving somebody out, but I think that's it.

Things worked out so well the last time KU grabbed a kid with a crazy mom who didn't want to be in college in the first place.

Thankfully, they're allowed to have players with extra benefits.

I only see Diallo listed under 1 mock draft as a 1st rounder, Draftexpress. Haven't checked Chad Ford's because I refuse to get ESPNinsider. Most seem to either have him early 2nd or not in the 2016 draft. Now I can see him being a workout warrior and getting middle to late 1st projections. Then he'll probably sign an agent. He isn't ready though to have an impact in the NBA. It will be him weighing improving at KU vs improving in the NBDL.

ESPN ranks players according to what kind of pros they will eventually be. Since we're on a rivals site I think we should probably go with rivals rankings and Embiid was a 4 star although he was skyrocketing right before he signed with Kansas.

Embiid was a 5 star on Rivals.
