When King Cal leaves in 4-5 years how about Steve Prohm from Iowa St as next coach!?

Cal will coach at UK until he is 75.
Mark it down.

I honestly think he's going to coach here for a long, long time. I think he'd enjoy watching Coach K, Pricktino, Boeheim and Ole Roy not only retire before him, but have to sit and watch him continue to coach THE premier program in all of sports. I think he wants to and will outlast them all.

I don't think he will be here until 75 but I definitely could see 8-10 more years

I think Cal will be here for 5-8 more years. As far as his successor, I shudder to think about it.

I doubt we'll have any idea who his successor will be until the time comes. In 5-10 years a lot of coaches will be on the upswing making a name for themselves that haven't yet.
Yep, something like this and possibly when we least expect it. I don't think Cal would leave without trying to have a coach in mind to carry on. He loves the program too much to leave us hanging. He's the best.

i have the utmost respect for coach payne. if he wants the ky job he needs to find a hc job and get experience. i don't think we will hire some one that has not been a hc.

Neither one of those guys could handle the job. They might get there sometime but not right now.

Payne wouldn't be the guy either.

Cal is going to be here long enough that our next coach may not even be on the radar just yet but if we have to pick our favorite up and comer right now I like Shaka-indy

Bruce Pearl? Yeah I know, he comes with baggage and he did that stint at UT but he can coach, recruit and most of all...he has the charisma that it takes at UK. Alot of good coaching candidates out there but not many that can withstand the expectations of the big blue nation.

I truly believe Cal will retire his coaching career @ UK but to speculate who will be the next coach is a bit premature. So much can change over the next few years. Think about it, other than a very few top tier coaches, things change from year to year. Let's just enjoy the time we have with Cal and let thing play out.

Cal will be here 5 more years, that is all. His successor will be ....... Buzz Williams !
He would be a good one. Certainly charismatic enough. Fans, players and the media love the guy. My only question would be his recruiting but then again the Kentucky brand recruits itself.
