Mid majors are better than people think and every year they get more skilled. It's just a matter of time till they break through for a championship. The blue bloods playing each other early helps mid majors sneak by.

And the Big 10 barely does better at 4-3 when it very well could have easily been 2-5. At least the Big 12 still has its top teams still in it. Once again it's up to Kansas try and carry that league.

How many years in a row is this going to have to happen before the "Big 12 is the best" talks stops?

KU streak would not exist if Wichita was in Big 12.
Let's not go full on crazy here. The Big 12 stumbled again today, but teams like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke etc. aren't where they are at by pure chance. Dominating consistency is what has separated them from everyone else.

Every 4-5 years we have a Gonzaga, VCU, Wichita St. or whoever wannabe upstart it is the next couple of years that gets a few pieces together, makes some news a few years in a row, and now suddenly thinks they deserve a seat at the table with the big boys. The only difference is a few players graduate, and poof, the magic is gone.

Kentucky and even Kansas though don't drop off like that. They put teams together that compete hard and at a high level every single year. I just hate the rhetoric that always surrounds these small guys. "If those big guys would just play us all the time then we'd show'em!" Sure, WSU might beat Kansas every now and then, and UNI might beat UNC once in a blue moon, but put them in the same league where they have to compete day in and day out? No chance.

WSU was 35-0 in 2014 and we had a great game to beat them. They lost to UL in the final four in 2013. They beat KU in 2015. Yeah, KU would own them.

Actually, the Big 10 is 5-3 counting Michigan's play-in game. I have it summarized in another thread.
The last championship that over hyped conference won was 1990 and they will not win it this year. After we kick IU's butt today all of their hopes will be shattered. Hell Iowa was lucky to win. I guess Maryland and Iowa go out tomorrow.

In the last two tournaments, there have been 7 teams seeded 12 or higher that have won their opening games. These are all considered big upsets.

Four of those wins came against the Big 12.

Combined that with the fact that the conference hasn't had a non-KU Final Four team in over a decade (which just happens to coincide with KU's "streak") and it's starting to look like the conference is a fraud. Still a decent league but by "fraud" I mean in terms of the hype it gets. Seth Davis said this year's Big 12 was the best conference in the last decade. Give me a break.

The PAC 12 actually did worse. They were 2-5 when favored while the Big 12 was 3-4 when favored.

You beat me to it, I was just going to say let's not leave out the mighty PAC 12 who lost 5 of 7 in the first round. Yep, they sure warranted all those teams getting in, didn't they? West Coast basketball at its finest.

Ok......let's get ready for next season.......

The big12 has 11 teams ranked to start the season. Greatest conference of all time. Even if they lose it doesn't really mean anything. Hell if they lose in conference it means nothing. The SEC starts in the basement. Any losses will be taken extremely serious. No Lee way.

Now let's lay ball!!
