Briscoe will create problems for IU and then UNC

IU is a tough second round game. UK may be a slight favorite?? Maybe a +2. Chattanooga will really push IU to the limit I think whereas we should have more of a warm up game (I hope).

I love how Cal is using Briscoe.

Pull whatever big about 10' from the hoop, spread Willis and Murray to the corners, and Ulis to the top.
He runs circles under the rim drawing defenders and kicks to either the big or the shooters. Love it.

Plus coaches know the scouting cold but it doesn't always carry over to the players. Besides Briscoe will have one game where he will hit a shot or two which could be huge.

Briscoe will become part of the opposing team's offensive strategy with 39% FT's. With <3mins to play, Cal needs another option. Briscoe cannot go to the line in a must-make FT situation. 61`times out of 100 he misses. As a coach I make that work for me.

Luckily, pretty sure Cal is aware.

I'm just so pissed about the draw we got in the NCAAT that I don't even feel like we were given the fair chance to make a big run that we deserved. Almost feels like the season ended today because of the impossible bracket we were handed. Yet aTm gets an easy draw? This team deserved a fair chance to win it all. And the NCAA instead puts us in murderers row. These players who worked there butts off for a good seed. Got screwed as hard as a team could ever get screwed. Just a truly sad series of events today. Let's hope something happens in our favor such as an early IU exit and for us to take UNC to school (pun intended). I hate the NCAA and how they lump us in with the likes of Duke and cal. Before the SECT we were ranked much higher than Duke, and somehow they jumped over us after losing early and us winning out? Also 2 teams in which we have a million times better resume's than. Yet the NCAA claims we're lesser than those teams? Pfft.

Didn't seem to be a problem today. Just don't get it to Briscoe when they could exercise this strategy late in a close game.

Briscoe is 11 for 17fts (64%) in March. Obviously well off the mark of a good guard, but much better than 39%. Conversely, he was 18 for 61 (29%) from the start of the season to Jan 11th.

I've been saying this for a while, no way is Briscoe this bad of a shooter or he'd have never made it to D1. He's still finding his shot, and I wouldn't want to rely on his shooting yet, but he's much better than a sub 50% ft shooter and a sub 20% 3pt shooter. Just look at his HS stats.

Agree. He was a 75% free throw shooter in high school. He also won the ball is life 3 point contest. I think he has struggled adjusting to getting stronger alot.

It might actually be a big mistake if teams try and target him. At some point, he's going to be a 70% FT shooter. This isn't a Deandre Jordan situation.

Yeah the problem though and what he's beneficial it, is he collapses defenses..if people try to help to cut him off..it leaves murray, ulis, willis open. Also he's an exceptional rebounding gaurd, so he cleans misses up on the kick outs. We have to have him. If their bigs want to step in and get in foul trouble as opposed to ours, I'm all for it

The thing you said which struck a cord was "We have to have him". Sure I hear the shooting percentage cries, but fact is the guy played over 40 minutes today, was 5-8 from the field, had 5 rebounds, and 6 assist. I don't care what anybody says, that's a guy I want in my LU. Apparently Cal does to.

I'm not concerned with teams fouling Briscoe. Gets us to the bonus faster and gets the other team in foul trouble. I hope that's the opponents strategy.

Briscoe had a HUGE offensive rebound late in the game. Murray had just missed a 3 pointer from the corner. Briscoe came in from nowhere and grabbed the offensive rebound and fired it right back to him in the corner. Murray makes the 2nd attempt. Huge play. Love guys that are perpetual motion, like Briscoe. He's gonna move the needle for us.

The thing about Briscoe that I hope opposing coaches don't figure out, is that playing off him because he's a poor shooter is just the opposite of what you should do. Playing off him just gives him that much more room to get into the lane. Similar to Rondo in that regard.

We are a TERROR with Willis back in the lineup. Briscoe is no longer biting on teams baiting him to shoot jumpers. We are gonna ROLL.

It's been an entire season and nobody's done that. Dumb post, but you are known for those. Let em get into foul trouble if that's what they want to do.

I'm known for dumb posts? And this is the NCAA Tournament, you don't think teams have realized he struggles at the line and might foul him hard instead of giving up bunnies? I sure would. Especially a team with extra bodies to throw around.

I like Briscoe. I hope teams do it, because likely it will cost them many points and other guys getting FT's quicker in the half.
