He scored this game. Have you watched him the rest of the year? If he gets the ball he doesn't pass. It's going to continue to cost us until he becomes a team player. Which my hopes are not high that's happening anytime soon.

I get what your saying, but this is the least skilled team offensively that Cal has had at UK. He could pass the ball every time he touches it, and they still couldn't score. Seriously, we don't have a single player, other than Murray, that I would consider even a decent offensive threat. So what good does it do to pass the ball to guys who can't do anything with it once they get it?

Not really worried about likes. Which only was an option in the last year. Not that it matters. But I'll like your posts if it makes you feel better about yourself.

He does gun too much, but it appears it is out of necessity.

Our Top PG in the country cannot make wide open shots.

Our 5 star guard cannot hit jumpers or FT's.

Our Beast is weak with the ball.

Our Number One draft pick is overpowered by everyone.

Our improved big man still has terrible hands.

We have zero inside presence.

Our offense is not smooth.

If Jamal is not selfish we may not average 50 points.

As two of the most overhyped but underwhelming players in UK history.

Murray caught lightning in a bottle over the summer and UK fans (including me) took it and ran.

Skal, I don't really feel I need to explain.

Beyond frustrating.
Jamal Mercer, you are dain bramaged.

What in the hell does Murray have to do with Skal?

This. The OP lumping Murray and Skal together as if they're the same thing was just simplistic dumb thinking. Two very different players and different situations.

Murray may be having some problems here and drive us nuts occasionally with his wild eyed gunner routine, but there's no doubt he's got the goods talent-wise and should have a nice NBA career.

With Skal, on the other hand, I have no clue. Whatever the hell it was that caused everyone to rate Skal so high he certainly has NOT shown here. I keep hoping it'll soon emerge but beginning to lose hope. The kid is a complete mystery to me.

Murray will have to take over games as the year progresses. we have ZERO inside presense. Dakari should have been coached to come back. We are too too focused on getting players drafted that aren't ready.

You think Cal pushed Dakari out?

I think Dakari wanted to leave on his own.

Murray IS our offense, sad as that is to type. We simply don't have any other good options on offense.

Cal has recruited great, we all know this, but IMHO, he needs to focus more on recruiting BASKETBALL players rather than great ATHLETES who play basketball. JMHO.

Yes, yes they will.

Both extremely overrated and under performers.

I'm shocked that both are this bad.
Bad? You wouldn't know bad if it punched you in the face. We had no shot without Murray. Maybe you'd rather be a Northwestern, Mizzou or IU fan.

No, but was he coached to stay? doubt it.
Oh I think he did actually. Cal is honest with kids. If they're not ready he tells them. He just doesn't throw a hissy fit like some coaches (cough...cough...ROYWILLIAMS) if they decide to leave anyway.

Murray's points don't mean crap. He had all those points and we still lose. Too little too late. Thought he played selfish as usual. His selfishness, no interior game, ulis having a let down season are all contributing to this embarassment. We can expect more of the same the rest of the season.
Only idiots can't see that he carried the team to within 3 points on 3 or 4 different occasions and we have no shot otherwise. Root for Dook instead.

I love these early game posts that end up being ridiculous. So OP changed his mind based on the 2nd half. Nothing like microwave fans.

good summary...IMO this game will help us down the "preverbal" path...they didn't give up, and they finally showed some heart and emotion

Murray is 2nd on the team in assists and a really good passer. Leads the team in scoring a 17 per game while getting 4.4 rb and a steal . His assists would be higher if we had guys that could catch and finish. I guess what I'm saying is you don't have a clue when it comes to JM.

What in the hell does Murray have to do with Skal?

They're identical like the Harrisons.

Ulis ,Alex and Lee are the ones to blame..they should be carrying the team till the Fr get it...we're getting almost nothing frome Alex
They were a combined 29 pts, 18 rebounds and 5 assists but a lot of guys could have made more plays, including Murray.

blame eveyone but ulis. another 4-12, 1-7 shooting day and not a peep on him
But to hell with the Twins. Cost us a title last year ....o_O I'm not hating on Ulis either. He's a solid point guard but he is the golden child on this board from some reason.

Murray is special. .. My goodness, the kid is avg 17 pts a game and shooting almost 40% from 3 and hes overrated? The kid will just keep getting better and better as the year progresses and will go down as UKs all-time freshman scoring leader!!!!

I wish certain fans would take note of these threads and STFU next December, January, whatever when our young teams looks pretty underwhelming at times.

Ahhh yes, this is when we were going to the NIT. I see some of the ones that flipped out in this thread over Murray's slow start in a game in January were flipping out yesterday when UK was down by 9 in the first half and proclaimed the game over.

These old posts are a riot. Some of us are just plain old stupid. Why berate freshmen in December? How about we lump some posters together as utter failures: jamalmercer, Zaytoven and kybassfan come to mind.

I said Tyler Ulis was good,
And not great. I think this was during his shooting slump. We are all way too quick to judge. Some just take it to another level.

These old threads are pretty funny, though.

Holy hell!

Completely and utterly embarrassed by this one for great reason.

I think Murray has proven me wrong :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: and even Skal to a much lesser extent.

I am an absolute moron and should be made fun of and ridiculed to no end.

Way to take your medicine Jamal and yes this thread is quite funny.
