Always fascinating when someone repeatedly doubles down on a position as it becomes increasingly indefensible. Got my popcorn ready. By the time they actually shitcan Johnny Jones and LSU finishes up around 19-14, Decourcy will claim it's a huge mistake because they have a winning record.

EDIT: Dude is arguing you have to be great to compete in the SEC and make the dance. Alabama might make the dance. St. Bonaventure might get in. Monmouth has a shot even if they don't get the auto bid. It really shouldn't be hard to drag the best freshman in America and a serviceable supporting cast into the tournament.

Also, which one of you rascals just dropped "BTI sucks, and UKO is a dork" on Matt Jones during the postgame show?

Thanks fat boy but I'm at an all time low, 161.9 lbs today, you can't tell me with that dome and hotdog neck that you have been under two since you have been in Louisville.

I am so bored in this f'n hospital that I even have resorted to posting. Don't flatter yourself tho, your posting is at an all time ****** low, your the Gyero Adam Dunn, can still knock one outta the park, but your average is terrible and your age is catching up to your face.

* Shew. Undermanned UK team doing that to an as-first-mentioned-in-GYERO DESPERATE Bama team? That's pretty neat.

* Nice to see the dudes rebound on rebounding. Good efforts from 22 and Humphries. Think Vandy might be a really big I-Zack game. Damian Jones is playing his balls off at the moment and I think they shot 58% as a team at Florida.

* I wanted Bama to hire Ron Hunter. Ron Hunter is to me what Al Skinner is to Cawood. My bad, Bama. You've got a good one as long as the NBA doesn't come calling soon. Given he's been fired from 2 NBA gigs, this naturally will happen sooner rather than later.

* Ulis. I mean...it's just the right play, over and over and over again. You can't gush enough. Dude just plays the right way, and that's the most sickening basketball announcer cliche ever, but in this case, it's true.

* Man, I think Murray's about got this stuff figured out.

* Not only is Retin Obasohan a heck of a player and basically a one man team tonight, but he's one of the two guards on my All-SEC Names I Want To Hear Ralph Hacker Pronounce team.

G - Retin Obasohan (Alabama)
G - Dundrecous Nelson (Ole Miss)
F - Nemanja Djurisic (Georgia)
F - Moussa Gueye (Alabama)
C - Dawid Przybyszewski (Vanderbilt)

* Johnny Jones is a big goof. Mike DeCourcy is a big goof and would rather be right than do right. He needs to stop doubling and tripling down on this. GYERO has and will continue to ether him.

* Another game of hitting the magical 78-point mark. Doubly impressive with no Willis and a defensively halfway decent Bama team that was also very desperate to win this ballgame. They can really score the basketball, fellas.

* Just get well by the time the bracket comes out.

I joined Clark tonight in surviving a tornado in Alabama. Just high winds and minor roof damage for us, but large debris path is about 1/2 mile away. Got watch the cats win first, though.

Kinda disappointed in "Master of None". Expected more from Aziz. Maybe he's just better in a supporting role.

Article on ESPN this morning about the Arsenal-Barcelona game. Written by Richie from what I can gather...

The night was pregnant with possibility, and Arsenal were winning the fight. There was Alexis Sanchez racing back 20 yards to muscle Messi off the ball; there was Ramsey, throwing his body in the way of a shot from Messi and producing a superb block to deny the best player in the world. The tide was with Arsenal.

And then, bang, it all changed. Arsenal's growing exuberance was punished ruthlessly by Barcelona, who streamed up the field with the home side over-committed in attack on 70 minutes and saw Neymar slip a perfect pass square for Messi, who took one touch to control the ball and commit Petr Cech in one masterful movement, before then slotting the ball home.

Flamini's comical 47-second cameo -- which involved touching Messi's shin in the penalty area before he had even touched the ball after coming on as a substitute -- hurt Arsenal, but the fatal blow had already been inflicted.

It was this which stung Wenger so profoundly, the obliteration of emergent hope in the blink of an eye. The realisation, and Ozil seemingly felt it too, that Arsenal simply cannot compete at this level, when performances must be perfect and teams must be ruthless. Another Champions League campaign disappears before their eyes.

Reminds me of this gem written by Richie's grandfather from the 1931 season...

The Wildcats of Kentucky State defeated the Tennessee Vols, 36 to 32, last night on Jefferson Hall court in one of the weirdest basketball games this correspondent has ever witnessed.

After trailing at the intermission, 27 to 9, the Vols, without the slightest warning, did a right about face and completely outplayed the 'Cats in the second period. A goal by lanky LeClaire Greenblott in the last five seconds deadlocked the score at 32-32.

In the five-minute playoff, Tennessee again cracked under the strain and allowed the Blue Grass visitors to register two field goals.

It was more like a game of "tag." Major Bill Britton's team played like a mediocre high school outfit in the first half. They seemed more concerned over working their plays than scoring baskets. Three lonesome field goals, and three equally pitiful charity heaves, represented their entire scoring efforts.

HOPELESS CAUSE!

It looked like a forlorn cause when the Orange and White sharpshooters gave chase to the 'Tucky tribe in the second period. But before anyone realized what it was all about LeClaire Greenblott was tossing goals from all angles. He flipped them sideways, over his head, and some of the ringside spectators declare he even flipped one with his heels. Anyway, "Greenie" went to flipping and Tennessee gradually sliced Kentucky's margin. The score stood 32-30 in favor of Carey Spicer's Kentuckians. With only five seconds to play Greenblott played the Frank Merriwell role by ringing the bell with another two-pointer. And, my how the fans raved about "Greenie"!

After resting for several minutes the hardwood pounders went to it again. They sparred cautiously for several seconds and then Worthington, a substitute guard, jabbed a left hook into the basket for two points. Carey Spicer followed a moment later with a right uppercut and the referee counted the Vols out. It was all over and the best team won.

Tennessee held Kentucky to five points in the second period, while they were chalking up 23. It was just that kind of a game.

:basketball:Love where we are as a team, Cal whipped them into shape again and i didn't believe he could this year. I am a big goof for doubting him, AGAIN. I am just so damn confident in these guys right now, cannot wait for the tourney.

I guess the dream of Ulis staying is dead. Hope someone may fall in love with him and swoop him up at the end of the 1st round.

Ulis extended his school-record streak of 21 consecutive games with at least four assists.

This is the fifth time this season he has had at least 10 assists in a game, breaking the school record of four shared by Kyle Macy in 1977-78, Roger Harden in 1985-86 and John Wall in 2009-10.

Ulis up to 7.0 assists a game. 3.5 to 1 assist turnover ratio

Creeping up on this record: Kentucky has scored at least 76 points in 11 straight regular-season SEC games for the first time since the 1995-96 season (12 straight).

UK is 63-0 under Calipari when keeping the opponent to 55 points or fewer.

Kentucky had 15 assists and a season-low four turnovers. UK has had more assists than turnovers in 11 consecutive SEC games for the first time since 1995-96 (14 consecutive SEC games).

This is the 18th-straight game that a Wildcat has scored at least 20 points, the longest such streak since 1989-90, 21 straight games

Murray: 13th game this season with at least 20 points, his seventh game in a row. It’s the longest streak since Jodie Meeks had nine consecutive 20-point games in 2008-09.

It is his 26th consecutive double-figure scoring game, the most since Brandon Knight had a 28-game double-figure stretch in 2010-11.

He has made at least one 3-point shot in every game this season, the first player in program history to make a triple in each of his first 28 collegiate games.

It’s also a school record for most consecutive games with a 3 to begin a season, regardless of year in school.

It is the second-longest streak in school history, trailing only Tony Delk, who had 32 straight games with a triple.

Since Jones planted the seed that Chris Mack could be the next UL coach it seems the disillusioned bunch is starting to hitch their wagon to him.

Kinda sucks if its him. I like UL coaches to be as hateable as possible.

Wednesday Randoms:

- So, 58 today and snow tomorrow. smh

- @tommyg4uk, remember a few years ago when you were running for Pope?

- Kind of glad Calipari let all of BBN know Ulis is gone. I mean, SmartFan knew already, but a lot of these people didn't. Just get used to it- best UK PG since Macy is GONE. Enjoy this last 6 weeks.

- adjO up to #6.

- KenPom actually has Murray over Ulis for SEC POY. Food for thought. What a sick combo. If Briscoe could make a J or FT, we'd be Illinois 2005 2.0.

- Speaking of...where do you rank Ulis and Murray at their respective positions in the Calipari era?

PG:

1. Ulis- can't believe I'm putting any PG over Wall, but it's pretty clear. Better ballhandler. Better defender. Better assist man. Much better shooter. Wall was more explosive and finished better at the rim, but in the college game, give me Ulis.

2. Wall
3. Knight

SG:

1. Murray- this is a toss-up with Lamb, especially considering how clutch Lamb was, but I think Murray's a more versatile scorer, Lamb was a better defender, though. Having a hard time with this one, to be honest.

2. Lamb

3. A. Harrison- gets the nod over Bledsoe because of the clutch 3s against Louisville ('14), Michigan ('14), Wisconsin ('14) and Notre Dame ('15). With that said, probably a controversial take.

- RE: Officiating

I'm cool cleaning up the perimeter and lanes from handchecks and such, but the paint is the land of the warriors. Hate all the BS calls at the basket and everything else this year.

- Is Vandy finally coming around (...just in time for our trip to that purgatory they call a gym)? It's been ridiculous how mediocre they've been on offense all year with that talent.

- How many athlete interviews are actually worth 5 minutes of your time for a listen? 5%? Less?

- Thinking about picking up some Chacos this spring/summer...

- I guess I get people who didn't like "Master of None"- the lass hated it- but it was center cut for me. Loved stuff like the in-depth discussion of "Lose Yourself." [laughing] Des and his girlfriend could get annoying quickly though.

- So, the new thing up here is heroin wrecks- people shooting up and driving then causing huge wrecks. They're really bad out on 74 (West Side into Indiana), but we just one on 471 that killed a man and launched a baby who is now in critical condition.

Mack's a fine coach and Xavier has produced some studs, but I think Marshall and Archie Miller would be much better hires.

Little known fact but Mack's wife (Christie Hester) is from Louisville and starred in basketball at Holy Cross before playing her college ball at Dayton.

Her family still lives in Louisville so it makes since.

Meh, it's not even debatable at this point.

I'll take it a step further and say he's the 2nd best PLAYER Cal has had...after Davis -- if you're talking a college basketball season. He's been nothing short of incredible...

I want him to be 1st Team AA so damn bad...and I think he's got a great shot.

Isnt it a Floyd St. university bylaw that a head football/men's basketball coach has to have an objectionable past, or just be in general an unlikable person? Just don't see enough dirt in the past for Mack, Miller, or Marshall. Not sexy or exciting enough for them.
