Sec officiating is way down since a bunch of the good ones left after the problems with the assign or and now we are stuck with some that are not ready for these games. The game has passed Hess by big time.

Blind Karl Hess. It fits. Biased to, whatever those may be. It's sad a conference like the SEC has to use him. And I'm not one to make a big deal about officiating other than it's just plain bad whichever way it might end up being favorable to. It's way too invasive in college basketball in a lot, maybe even most games. It certainly has been in a number of our games.

To answer the question the SEC and officials, to the SEC basketball is just a necessary evil and something to do till spring football practice. If the Three Stooges and the Marx brothers were still around the SEC would hire them.

Karl is still 10 times better than Roger Ayers, who has given Calipari multiple Techinal fouls over the past 2-3 years.

That name brings back some terrible memories. Ayers whistled Cal for tech in the NCAA Tournament back in 2011. Then the very next game he officiated for us vs Tennessee in 2012, he called another technical on Coach Cal. Then we went on to lose our next four games Ayers officiated.

If you know the officials name before the announcers say them, it's a good sign you're a terrible ref. I have a good friend who refs hs basketball & he mentions how they discuss coaches & how some say they "officiate" accordingly so it's safe bet the D-1 boys do the same.

SEC has the Dregs from every other conference,Tony Greene (I Think) was booted from the Big East after too many terrible calls, the head of SEC Officiating is a Biased Anti-UK POS and a whole slew of the refs under him are crooked, terrible, officials that have Anti-UK agendas and from what I've seen appear to have ties to organized gambling.

I'll never forget the two charging calls that Hess made against us in the NCAA tournaments. The first was in 2003 against Marquette. We were way down and coming back and he called a charge on Barbour that was a momentum killer. We still may not have came back and won, but that call ruined any chance. The bigger one was the next year in 2004 against UAB. That was one of those games that seems like the title winner has every year. It looks like you may lose, but come back and then go on to win the title. We had come back and Hess made a terrible charging call on Azubuike. It was a 6 point swing that cost us the game, because UAB goes down and hits a three. I really believe had we won that game we would have made the final 4, and maybe even won it all!!

Karl Hess. No words describe how much I hate him. I honestly couldn't give a crap if he got beat and jumped. Isn't he the loser that kicked out those 2 ex nc state players in the stands for nothing? Loser, I hope a fan at the game throws something at his head.

Officiating in all sports, not just college basketball has gotten awful. My theory is the camera and the replays have actually made the refs worst, not better. They know the camera is there, backing them up, so they get lackadaisical and make mistakes even ones they can't reveiw. It's almost human nature to become more relaxed when you have a safety net.

In college ball, I think a lot of the problem falls in guys being out of position, reactionary calls, and expectation calls. There just isn't enough eyes on the court in basketball. As far as Karl Hess goes, he's just the next Jim Burr. Miserable POS that holds grudges, and wants his tv time. His wife must be a real bulldog bc he sure likes to assert his authority on the court. Same for Doug Shows

I may be wrong but I believe Hess called the charge on Barbour in 2003 against Marquette, and the charge against Azubuike against UAB in 2004, both of which wiped out And-1s.

Some have a clear dislike of Cal and make no attempt to hide it.
This is true. When I officiated in high school, I had dislike for Bobby Keith and how he tried to bully everyone. I did my best to call the game as fair as I could, but Bobby was on a short leash when it came to what he said and how he said it. Having said that, I never called a technical on Bobby though.

Wasn't it Ayers that made the statement he "likes tee'ing up Cal more than anything."?
Seems like I either read that on a board or maybe MJ mentioned that on his show.
