I use to think he was funny to listen to call a game, but I think that was only if he was high or drunk or high and drunk. He seems sober this game. His slurpfest for the PAC-12 is getting ridiculous. Every other sentence is talking about the "Conference of Champions". We get it you played in the conference and your son did as well. It even sounds like the play by play guy is getting annoyed with him. I hope the conference is making him say that.

He may be a terrible announcer but he was a helluva basketball player back in the day. One of the top 5 centers in college basketball history. Had a decent successful pro career. Led Portland to their only NBA title and played backup on a couple of Celtics championship teams.

What? You don't like hearing about the Greatful Dead, the Palomar Mountains, volcanos in India and the city of Temecula? What's wrong with you?

He needs to come east where real basketball is played. Come to Kentucky or Tobacco Road where they take basketball seriously.

He was hilarious earlier this year when he was talking about getting laid and being high during the Maui Invitational.

I know there is some truth to it, but ESPN acts as if nobody on the east coast watches basketball past 9:00EST. These Pac 12 games have a feel from a commentating standpoint that they're being played in Russia.

LOL, that is exactly what it feels like trying to watch one.

I think he smokes too much before a game...

hilarious, while the game is going on, Bill starts rattling off a bunch of awards professors at Cal have won and all the patents they have and the guy calling the game with him said that is good information if you ever get on Jeopardy, now back to the game.

Early in the game, he started talking about volcanos. Completely retarded. I stopped watching the game because of that idiot.

<------------------- Absolutely loves Bill Walton as an announcer. He knows the game and his off the wall stuff is usually funny…without really trying to be.

Sure he gets annoying at times (they all do)…but I find his commentating refreshing. Perfect for late night games after hearing all the same ol' same ol' from all of the other commentators all day/week long.

Bill Walton is the jock in a room full of intellectuals, that tries his hardest to prove he belongs. On top of that he tries even harder to be the "funny guy" and "cool guy" in that same room.

Sometimes it works and he's great, other times, he gets on your nerves to no end.

I just like that he has no cliches and no preset stories to tell. I have no idea what he is going to say next.

They should let him and Jeff Van gundy do a couple game in the tournament this year.

Exactly.

And I don't know if the general population could handle Walton & Van Gundy on air at the same time. But I would dig it the most. That would be an outstanding combination.

lol, I agree 100% and find it amusing you have a similarly amazing Gary Busey as your avatar.

Long live Bill Walton, I know more about Pac-12 teams than I ever cared to bc I go out of my way to watch Walton/Pasch games. speaking of, let's give Dave Pasch some love for being a tremendous straight man for Bill, the Laurel to his Hardy, the Abbott to his Costello, the Gorilla Monsoon to his Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, if you will.

Gotta give the old stoner a break. He played arguably the best championship game in history. He's a passable caster.

Different strokes for different folks. I just couldn't enjoy the game with all his rambling. If it were just an occasional line he would throw out it would be alright, but he spends like over half the game babbling about stuff that has nothing to do with the game. That is the same thing that made people start to hate Dick Vitale as a broadcaster. Luckily I don't watch many West Coast games and can avoid him.
