Anyone know why Cal pulled poythress out early after 6 quick points? It looked like he was going to have one of those great games. Haven't been on here since early yesterday so sorry if this has already been discussed.

I really think Alex wasn't feeling well - might have had some bug, or maybe his leg was bothering him. I don't know

To give him a blow I would imagine. He was the go to player the first several minutes and I have to think Cal wanted to give him a break.

AP asked to come out ... which is what Cal wants them to do. Alex opened up with super high energy, scoring points, getting rebounds and blocking shots. Without doubt, he was the catalyst to a fast start.

I thought Cal would put him right back in at the first tv timeout, but he didn't get back in for a few more minutes. The problem when he came back in was that Lee was already in foul trouble and Alex had to guard Killingsley. Lee being unable to guard the 5 spot is putting Alex out of position.

I like the plan of going straight to Alex during first part of the game. Vandy will be a tough game for him if he's asked to guard Jones.

I like what Alex did last night. He didn't get a lot of minutes because of foul trouble, but his minutes were high quality minutes.

I'm pretty sure he picked up his second foul and that's why he didn't come back out in the first half.

Glad that's all it was, but surprised. I'd think in his superb condition he be able to run suicide sprints for 4 minutes to the TV timeout. He was very high energy though, something we all loved seeing. If he'll play consistently like that along with Skal this will be a much better team. Much closer to it's potential.

Yes, but that was later than the time the OP is asking about. This situation was still early in the game before foul trouble.

After he made that defensive play where I think he may have fouled but they didn't call it a foul he held up his arm and asked for a breather!

Whatever the reason was, it sure took him out of his game. He was on fire and going out was like throwing a tub of water on him.
