can you get a heart transplant, guts, and pride at these meetings? No, because the blame for the play of this team is the hard head of our coach. If their ever was a UK team that needed to play zone its this one. In fact, this team has never played to its strength which is the guards, not post play from its inside people.

Just in one game I would like this team to zone press with its quick guards for 40 minutes, win or lose.

The way AU hit the 3 today, that zone you are referring to would have been busted.

How I see it these players have the talent or they wouldn't have been ranked so high coming out of high school. They can't adjust to college basketball.
It's up to them as players to fix this. Each player needs to put themselves in check or pack up and go home and allow other players to join this program that has the heart to play and what is necessary to change.

Let em play dodgeball. Who cares. Practicing basketball is obviously a waste of time.

My question is why the hell did Cal stop having the guys play in pads?

Is Cal losing his mind the older he gets? Is some one who hates UK poisoning him or something? If the team doesnt play tough enough on their own, 2 weeks of pads isnt going to change a bad habit.

You think defense is our problem? Are you actually watching these games?

First off you wanna play zone against a team that went crazy from three?

Second.......it wasn't the defense that was the issue yesterday. We shot the ball horribly

Teams that get pressed for 40 minutes does not hit open threes. Pitino teams never were beat by a bunch of 3 point shooters if if their guards were pressed the entire game.

Auburn shot 46% from three point range. How is that not a defensive issue?

Despite that they still only scored 1 point per possession. So it wasn't like Auburn had a huge offensive output here. They only shot 31% on twos and only rebounded 19% of their misses.

Defenses have more control over two point FG% than three FG%.

Conversely we only scored .93 points per possession......this against a team that was ranked 163rd in defensive efficiency. We shot just 35% from two and 33% from three. That's horrible.

This was entirely on the offense.

...that and Ulis out-rebounded Poythress, Lee and Skal combined! Ulis playing too many minutes and Murray/Briscoe are trying to do too much, and they aren't up to it yet, because we have no consistent inside presence.

They hit a BUNCH of crazy 3's, most of which were well defended. They just went in. Including a bank shot that hit high off the board. Offense was our problem the 2nd half!

If I were coach I'd break out 6 am practices, and have all the bigs practicing in skirts, until they started playing like
men.

Players only meeting only work when you have strong leaders or it's just a feel good term to give you some hope. This team does not have strong LEADERS. Not one but 3 at least. It's ulis and that's it. Murray thinks he's a leader but he can't even figure his own game out. The only way to get these guys to play better is to drive he sense of entitlement out of them by running their ***. Practice is either fitness or basketball based on how they play. Cal has babied these guys enough and now it's time to drive the baby out of them. Treat them like high schools. Make them hate practice so bad that they do what they have to to win in order to avoid the grueling sessions.

The players only meeting happened when Ulis shoved Skal at the ucla game and told him to get a rebound. Like all players only meetings, it hasn't worked.
