I believe it would be disrespectful to post AG's obit or identification on this board. If it were just UK fans that had access, then I might feel differently.

Personally, I don't think so. In life, sure. But if he's gone, he's gone. Is a Louisville fan going to contact his kids and play games about it or something? I don't get it. No one wants to know how he died. That's personal and no one needs to know. Keep in mind, the op has already given enough info to find the obituary but it's not there. Is he misleading for a reason? If so, say it, ya know.

Obituaries are public information. Some of us just want to know what's what. This thread doesn't get more clarity, the OP just swims in circles and gets upset when we don't know what's going on. Sounds an awful lot like a guy I used to know around here.......

I like alumni. I want to know. That's all this is.

I'll wait until tommorrow. If something comes it's gonna be a sad day. If we get ran in circles by the OP again, the thread should just be deleted. Personally, I don't think what the op is doing is right. He's the one that's making this whole thread turn into what it's turned into. It's been explained why we are Leary, yet, he just keeps in circles.

Is AG pulling a Tom Sawyer? Hmm.

The previous post about Alumni Gym being very early with "prophetic" remarks that unc troubles were looming is correct. I vividly remember one post of his using words to the effect that what would be revealed from Chapel Hill would (paraphrasing) shatter the tarheel house of cards forever - words that are yet to be fulfilled imo. These things came from AG even before the wheels for heels debacle.

And yes, there was a clear relationship between AG and Aligned for 9. Aligned definitely appeared to be the poster with more "inside" information to the unc scandals. In fact, Aligned appeared to be an individual involved in pursuing the unc issues. But the one thing I would like to mention - cautiously - is that at one point AG made a post, or a few posts, to indicate that either he or both he and Aligned for 9 had somehow been personally threatened by parties not interested in seeing any trouble for unc. It was almost immediately after that point that the frequency of those two posters, particularly Aligned, went way down.

And yes, there were some fakes. Tarhole fans who created similar usernames and frequented Rafters during that period. The most memorable was an entertaining joker who went by "In Line for 9".

Wow. It doesn't seem like it was all that long ago that AG was at my house watching Kentucky basketball games. I still have leftovers in my fridge from the 6-pack of beer he brought....

Can you confirm that our friend, AG, did pass away? You were his friend and I was hoping you would contribute to this thread.

So.......there were TWO AG's? One who was 44, and the one we "knew", who was, as others have stated, appeared to be much older?

Or perhaps it was really the same person, but the younger version of AG was stolen from the past and brought back to the future by the older version of AG as the older AG saw an old letter the younger version of AG wrote and of course 100% disagreed with it so drastic measures had to be taken. This has thus resulted in causing a rift in the space-time continuum.

I first became familiar with AG through this forum. When I was writing for KentuckySports.co (not KSR), he contacted me about a piece I did on "The List." We also realized that we both shared an interest in exposing the corruption at UNC.

We decided we'd drive to Chapel Hill together for the UK/UNC game in 2013-14. We bought our tickets together, but he ended up having to work and could not go. I took another friend who bought AG's ticket from him.

We frequented a bar called Gambrinu's in Owensboro.

AG watched a few UK basketball games at my home. The last game he watched at my house...he brought a 6-pack of Beck's. I don't really care for Beck's... Thus there is still a bottle of it in my fridge.

I had lost contact with him over the last few months. I called him a few months ago to share a new revelation regarding the UNC scandal...and he was in the hospital.

Yes... I can confirm that AG has passed.

Many crushed him for his bold predictions. After I received numerous threatening calls at home and at work from UNC fans... I stopped posting, but I still talked to AG. I'll admit that he got carried away and exaggerated a few things I told him. His comment on "shatter UNC" came after a few conversations I had with Eric Prisbell. Prisbell had a huge lead on Fats & shady stuff regarding UNC that originated in Atlanta. Prisbell was on his way to Atlanta to investigate when AG made that bold statement. I know for a fact that Prisbell found info that he never wrote about. I know about a Western Union receipt he was given...but never wrote about. AG got overly excited about bits of info that I shared with him...and many here crushed him over it.

Thanks for sharing. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

When I was being attacked on this board by another poster, AG came to my defense and continued to defend me for a number of posts. For that, I will always be thankful. He and I also shared a passionate dislike for the misdeeds of UNC. I miss him already!

Awhile back, UNC fans somehow found his cell phone number...and harrassed/threatened AG for weeks.

After I took legal action...my calls stopped.

I had considered this, but dismissed it as too outlandish; however since someone else thinks this way.......:D

Thanks for some clarity. And he was back as bluegrassbaron yes?

I can't help but think he would love the way this thread turned. He'd be butchering me about now.

Hearing your story, I can't help but think about how much I hate that I must live in Tennessee and missed having true UK fan friends. All of my friends are either Memphis tiger fans or Tennessee fans. Of course, that's why I log on in the first place.

To show all you a**holes who the real UK fan is, even if he's originally from Tennessee with a degree from Memphis.

Fitting way to end it. Rip AG

there were two with similar names - can't remember the other one though.

Maybe there was another poster with a similar name but if so that's not who I'm talking about.

There's only a relatively small number of posters on this (or any) UK board who are interested in or can speak to UK's deep history. I'm guessing people are probably remembering WindyCat/BoilerMax/many other aliases and getting him confused with AG.

He too was a very knowledgeable but very controversial poster who was indeed older and was around for some of Rupp's years etc. He got fed up and left as part of the Tubby Smith fall-out although I still hear from him back-channel from time to time.

Actually this is how many of the threads in which he participated ended up, so yes it seems fitting.

R.I.P. Alumni Gym. And, to the OP, you didn't deserve to be ostracized for simply passing along information on your best friend. My condolences to you on your loss.

Of course not.

It was more of a "hope this is more BS" than anything.

My kind of fan IS alumni. Just look around, I take up for the crazies.

Not to derail, but I was no fan of WindyCatz for a variety of reasons. He may have been knowledgeable, but he was bad about twisting facts to his own perverse logic.
