the final four, it will be a masterful coaching job. This is not just X's and O's; but to get this group to melt together in one amalgamation is going to be a real challenge.
I like all the guys on the team and I am not bashing anyone, but as a whole, we are so young in talent and leadership.
Stating the obvious, but Poy and Ulis will have to be huge for us being a national championship contender.
I think Cal will show his overall coaching skills and will take this team to that level.

I must agree with you they are so young and have such a long way to go but it is early in the year Louisville will be a tuff test along with KU out there so we will see. Plus the SEC it self is going to be tuff along the way.

Glad you qualified your statement at the end. You've gone up in my estimation. jmuo

This team is still really talented. Just look at today's game. Played like crap and covered the spread against a decent team. UCLA was a bad loss, but UCLA played way above their typical self.

If this team won the title, I'd be incredibly impressed. Final four? Eh, they've got the talent to go there. I agree however it would still be an impressive feat for Cal.

With this being a 'down' year like everyone is saying, it shouldn't surprise you to see anyone make the Final 4. It might be one of those seasons where we see something like 2 teams seeded 5 to 8 in the Final 4.

We'll have as good a chance as anyone come March....I think. I do want to see us get a 1 seed and get Louisville. We will probably need Michigan State and Kansas to drop some games and be above at least one of them to get Louisville though.

Its Dec 12 you are talkin about an event that is 15 weeks away.
We are 9-1 and have a quality win over Puke.
Way too early for a post like the OP gave.
IMHO.

The team we beat today is better than the South Carolina team we lost to in '14. Chill. Props for using "amalgamation" in a sentence though.

I would never call losing our first road game to a team with at least 3 pros across 3 time zones a bad loss. Also one of our 5 best players was out and the best player couldn't bend his arm . It was a loss , it happens . People on this board see the UCLA score last year and think they stink but they didn't last year ( they made the sweet 16) and they are even better this year. Now they DO have a horrible coach but get enough talent like he does and it hides so of his issues.

UCLA on paper will be a bad loss. That's what I mean. I know we faced their A+ game, but the record won't reflect it.

A bad loss in what regard? Are you saying its a loss the NCAA Committee is going to look at that way in our seeding?

UCLA isn't going to set the world on fire, but they'll finish something like 20-11 and make the Big Dance as an 8-11 seed or something. A road loss against another NCAAT team isn't ever bad in the Committee's eyes.

I think you may be underestimating the tournament value of having THREE very good ball handlers in the NCAAT. These are guys who will not turn the ball over, and cannot be guarded man-to-man. This will be a nightmare for opposing coaches as tournament games tend to be grinders. Our front line guys will also be big enough and good enough to defend the basket, and we have enough depth and free throw shooting. Teams that could give us trouble are those who can shoot the lights out from long distance, but the pressure of the tournament has a tendency to shrink the basket, and our guys are quick and will defend the perimeter fairly well.

No offense; I think my point did not come across well. I do not need to "chill" the loss and future losses give me no bother.
I believe this team is a strong contender, because of the coach.
Most other coaches would take this team to obscurity.
