And Tyler Ulis needs to play with a little more control out there. He SHOULD NOT be staring opponents down and clinching his fists on the court.

Maybe he does but he hasnt been as obvious about it...like against South Florida talking with that guy after he hit the 3. Nobody sees that live...only when espn spotlighted it on tv...he didnt jump up off the ground and approach the guy

As I recall that was the 2nd or 3rd hard bump he had taken in the 2nd half.I thought it was going to get more testy than it did.I didn't see anything wrong with how it played out but it could have taken a different turn

This is the worst kind of poster. The one that says they are always right and it's everyone else who is wrong, doesn't know what they're talking about, everyone else just kisses ***, doesn't know anything about basketball, etc.

Yeah, you're just keeping it real. You're not a problem. It's everyone else. LOL.

ulismyman - calm down with this junk. Murray showed total contol in walking away ON HIS OWN, before Poy stepped in. We all watched it. We all saw it. Quit being a sissy. We have to play with fire and attitude. I do notice that your posts seem to be negative quite often, like your looking for stuff to complain about. Why?

And after years of watching Calyell and stomp around on the sideline you would think you would get it by now. He's not coaching a team
full of seniors here. Called motivation. Yes, you're allowed your opinion, but quite stirring the pot and trying to bait.

I'm not sure I agree that it wasn't a particularly hard foul. The thump that I heard once he hit the floor tells me a different story..
I agree with this. It looked like an excessively hard foul to me too. He had no chance of blocking the shot and hit him with a fairly hard body slam. I don't think it was malicious but it certainly was hard.

I'll reiterate, I think OP is awful.

But I don't think he's as far off base on this one as a lot of you are acting.

I personally like the fire in Murray, Ulis, Briscoe, and others that show it; albeit less than these 3. I particularly love the way the other four teammates come in to help, showing solidarity and brotherhood. We don't hear what's said on the court between the two teams. Guarantee there is a lot of trash being talked and the hard fouls are usually the results of that. You drain a step back jumper in my eye, next time you have a break-away dunk or easy lay-up, I'm going to make you earn the points from the line. It's gamesmanship and is apart of every sport. Murray getting up like that is, IMO, his way of showing "he ain't no b*tch" and won't back down from and isn't scared of physical play. I'm sure Cal will rein it in when he feels it's getting out of control.

Take last night for example...he got fouled on layup and jumps up like he wants to rumble??? That was not a particularly hard foul...not sure where the frustration comes from. HE has been T'D up twice already. Needs to show a little more control out there

Welcome to international ball. You'll be glad we have him in SEC play.

For ALL concerned. Murray was turning away BEFORE Alex arrived... He caught himself more than Poy did though it wasn't only Poy around either. I'd have pec*** checked him myself...Murray hit the ground pretty hard.

Dude, put the keyboard away for a while. Just stop. You're being really critical of our players. I know on your 19" magnavox it looked like a little bump but these guys are moving fast and when you look at the replay you will see why Murray went flying to the floor. Illinois State's plan was to play physical, well they took it too far sometimes and if I was Murray I might have jumped up like that too. You need to remember what's at stake for this kid. If he gets injured 7 games in he's screwed.
As far as the technical fouls, I believe one if them was the one where he was trying to help his teammate up and tge ref T'd him up. Cal told the ref "if you're lying you're done". Murray said he didn't say anything. I believe him.

I think I'd agree with the premise that Murray seems a bit hot tempered. I'm not sure if this has always been an issue or not, but he has gone a little too far with some of what has happened. The two technicals he has received were over situations that didn't even initially involved him, but he jumped in. That first one was bogus, without a doubt. The second one was probably deserved because he was running his mouth.

But I will add this- I disagree that the foul that upset him last night was not a hard foul. It was definitely a hard foul. The guy hit him hard and Murray was airborne when the contact happened, and he was slammed to the court. So, I don't blame him for being upset.

I would also add that he did stop and show restraint, with a little help from Poythress. So, if you're looking for progress, there it is. He got fouled hard (and if you disagree it was a hard foul, I would suggest going back and watching the play at full speed) but instead of going after the guy or running his mouth, he kept his mouth shut and walked the line for his free throws. That's the only way to respond.

Plus Cal has already said he has talked to Murray about his language on the court..don't try to tell me i don't know what i am talking about
fair enough, but don't you ever have a positive thought about UK??

he does seem to be easily agitated, but that particular play, although a clean play, was a pretty rough foul. i can see where his first instinct might be to get mad.
