This would be a surprise to no one. Who knows if the guy ever really considered UK or not, but he was certainly worth putting forth the effort.

You, in all your wisdom, should have let Cal know about this. I'm sure he would have appreciated it.

Yes, everyone knew he was likely to end up at Duke. Cal never stopped pursuing him, and got him to make an official visit 2 weeks ago. Excuse those of us who held out a glimmer of hope.
I won't say there was never any chance he was going anywhere but Duke. But my guess is, there hasn't been a moment when Duke didn't lead in his mind. And yeah, a coach as good as Cal goes for that kid every time when he's as good as Giles. You never know what could happen. Hell, it still could. But I would be very surprised.

I thought you Libs hated the Jews. Calm down its not like he called Palistine out for terrorism.

Dude, I'm ex-army. Ex Recon. Sorry to bust your bubble, but I'm not a liberal (certainly not on Taxes and national defense).

I happen to not like stereotyping, especially of Jews. 1/3rd of my family is Jewish and I do take offense to the frumpy Jewish girl comment, so would my family members.

I happy to be a very proud Christian.

Meh - Giles will make his choice depending on who he is.

Some kids would prefer the student body at UK - basically just a typical cross-section of kids - Everyman U with an elite basketball program and HOF coach - and some kids would prefer would prefer the student body at Duke - more a collection of academic over-achievers and kids from wealthy families - plus a coach who is in the discussion as GOAT. There is no wrong choice there - it just depends on the personality of the recruit. A Jabari Parker is going to go to Duke every time. An Anthony Davis is going to go to UK.

Harry strikes me as more of a kid who would fit in better at a UK (or KU or Wake), but Tatum and his relationship with K may sway him to Duke.

So some of your family were cheerleaders at Duke. No? Then lighten up Francis. He was not stereotyping anyone except Duke cheerleaders.

Hey, I'm a frumpy, white guy with chronic halitosis, toxic sarcasm, and this...this...this "rash".

Dammit, there I've gone and done it. Offended myself again. Excuse me while I go send me a strongly worded email.

Little Harry was definitely feeling UK when he was a freshman. Almost the only school he talked about. Since that time, he developed a strong relationship with Capel at Duke. He has a great relationship with K too but by far, he is the closest to Capel of any coach. Harry Sr, was definitely in Duke's corner as well. In the end, that relationship with Capel, his friendship with Tatum and his dad's opinion of where he should go, was too much for UK or Wake (the only other teams with a legit shot) to overcome.

It seems like we all lose focus at times. It would be awesome to land Giles but if we don't it will be OK. We ( UK ) can't land everybody. Cal has been after Harry as long as anyone and worked hard to land him. When Giles announces it might be UK. If not it gives Cal and staff plenty of time to pursue another very good player. GBB

Evan Daniels seemed to be talking up the possibility of Giles to UK this morning. I still think it's Duke, but we might be in a better position for him than I thought.

Dunno who this guy is, but I found this as interesting. Dude is from North Carolina, said something about Giles' grades, so who knows.

Look you bunch of knuckleheads, I hate political correctness. I also know that Duke's cheerleaders aren't the hottest.
However, it's just plain wrong to label other people. Period.

Political correctness includes handing out a participation trophy to little kids and the gotcha journalism that pervades our culture. The promotion of a stereotype is not some version of political correctness however. Greedy Jews. Frumpy Jews and so on. That kind of language is just wrong. That kind of language is inflammatory and helps promote divisions between people.
