Absolutely.

I’ve always been one to think that Presidents have very little control over gas prices (either way, either administration etc). I think they conceivably could.

But I definitely agree with that.

I could agree with the premise you are providing that Presidents have little control, but how do you explain the past 4 years, versus the last 3 months? When Trump was POTUS 4 years ago...gas was cheap. Then ole Joe took control and gas was high. Now, Trump is POTUS again, and gas is cheap again.

How do you equate that?

There are a lot smarter people than me that could likely explain better. @WapPride for instance is in O&G.

But for where it was at the end of Trump's 4 years, it was straight Supply and Demand. People weren't traveling as much during covid.

What do you think Trump has done since taking over to lower prices?

The only thing Trump has done is say we're "gonna drill, baby drill". He told the world and the gas companies what this administration was going to do.

The last administration said, we are going to "end fossil fuels". They were going to end all coal companies/plants.

Do you not see the difference?

Just words though? We maxed out what we could drill and produce during the last term, produced more than we ever had before. Hard for me to believe worldwide prices of fuel swing that much based on the presidents words.

I could buy stock prices or futures, etc.

That's too funny. The last term did everything they could against the oil and gas industry. Cutting off lands that could be used and delay/denying permits.

I'm not talking about world wide prices. I'm talking about the greatest country on the face of the earth telling these people, we need oil/gas.

Let's use a hypothetical if you can't see what is going on. You have one person that campaigns on he is going to shut oil/gas down. He gains power. Gas goes up.

Next person campaigns on making gas/oil cheaper for everyone. Opens restrictions. Says we're going to drill baby, drill. Prices come down.

Now I'm not a "rocket surgeon", but it seems pretty self explanatory.

Did that $2.79 a gallon kill you in Williamston last year? Did you have to take out a loan to cover it?

I mean, that is all concepts, and doesn't reflect the actual #'s of oil production in the country.

I haven't visited Williamston since my barber died in a car crash over 10 years ago. You portray yourself as someone who is about the little people, then try and belittle me because you think I fall into a class that you chose. I don't have to worry about gas prices, but the people you act like you support do.

You're such a piece of **** dickpick. You are/were never worried about the "little people". Everything is about you.

That's how we all know you are bought and paid for.

Case in point - huckleberry just provided evidence supporting his claim and you immediately disregard it and then insult him.

You’re not worth the effort.

I do care Hambone and I've always said that you're my favorite hillbilly!

FYI - gas prices haven't been a thing for a couple years now...

I’ve done it in 100 threads multiple times, and honestly anything I say you’re going to disregard and then throw out some homophobic insult. It’s not worth my time to explain it.
You're probably right. Anything you say doesn't hold water with me.

Why don't you explain the last administration and this one though?

Are you really just trying to troll?

You are arguing with someone who literally works in that industry. You are flat wrong, and have had the actual facts posted for you, and you insult and deny? Why would people waste their time?

So now you're changing your tune and trying to change the subject.

That's what you communist do. You embarrass yourself every time you post.

I have no problem being called a hillbilly. Everything I have, I own.

How do you know that I don't work in the industry? There is you problem. Do you know Wap? Do you know what he does? Why is he and expert? Who made him an expert?

Oh am I? Gas was also cheap when Trump took over this time is the point.

I own everything I have too....but how could that be if I'm a communist?

I don't even know why I bother, but Wap has demonstrated his knowledge through his complex understanding of the topics and the industry.
You have demonstrated your lack of knowledge by being completely wrong about the industry.

What industry do you work in, since you are correct, I don't know what you do for a living?

Here is the facts you liberal Billy bobs.

Gas was cheaper under Trump 45 than Obama. Gas went way up under China Joe and now significantly and quickly back down under Trump 47.

Everything else and all the wonky stats don't matter. Trump is the master. Deal with it.

Was gas expensive when 47 came into office? How much has it dropped since?

What state, County and zip code specifically you interested in dpic? Interwebz is your friend. Gas is down though overall for a fact and I will rest on that.

Already down in only 2 months and it's not from dumping the strategic oil reserves to try and win an election. Trump is going to replenish the reserves also btw.

AI Overview

On January 20, 2025, the national average price for regular motor gasoline was $3.229 per gallon. The price was $3.164 on January 13, 2025, and $3.168 on January 6, 2025.
Crude has went down so retail prices will follow. I wouldn't talk **** at all if I was you because it's going down and I will absolutely remember and be happy to remind you when it happens.

The economy is slowing down due to all the uncertainty created by the tariff war and the massive numbers of Americans that have been laid off the last two months will decrease demand, which means gas prices will naturally go down. Is that good?

"Taken together, they represent a federal workforce decline of 2.5% in the first quarter of 2025"
