I have a hard time looking back at history through the lens of today’s societal norms and trying to judge. Manifest destiny was a cruel and horrible practice, but if you look at the rest of the civilized world at that time, it was the norm. There’s no arguing the American expansion west at the cost of an estimated 95% of the Native American population (due to war, and sickness mainly), is an incredibly damning black eye on our history.

The bottom like here is that all over America, every time Trump goes to court with his BS claims, he gets shut down. Every time. Trump is innocent until proven guilty, so you haven't seen me talking much about him going to jail (which I don't think will happen). But Trump is really bad for America.

Can you show me where anyone was charged with this? Didn't we have a big investigation into it? Where was Obama charged with that, b/c I don't remember seeing it. When you are convicted of a crime, THEN we can say that you did something illegal.

Do you support Trump posting Obama's home address on Truth Social, which resulted in an armed MAGA terrorist showing up in his neighborhood with firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition? Again, you are talking about the FBI looking into the campaign of an American Businessman running for President. Sure, you hate to see that. BUT when that businessman is doing hundreds of millions worth of business with Russia, then hell yeah the FBI needs to take a look. Nothing wrong with a businessman with ties to Russia. PLENTY wrong with the President having those. Add to it that the businessman in question lies publicly about this... Namely his plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Then taking a look at him is a good thing.

What makes me laugh with you guys, is Apparently the "Deep State" is the entire freaking country except for Donald Trump.
What would have been the result if we had honored all the land the Native Americans claimed? What about the rest of the world? How would our country look today? Would there even be a country? Like all of the animal kingdom, life evolves with survival of the fittest. The strongest prevail and rule and it continues today. We'd better keep that in mind.

Your argument is boiling down to "the ends justify the means" and "well everyone did it." I'm not in the business of speculating, and I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't answer your questions. My comment was mainly about people critiquing history through the lens of what's socially acceptable in today's environment.
One of my favorite questions to ponder, which was posed to me by a professor at Clemson was; had the Native populations not been completely wiped out by the plague and other European diseases they didn't have natural immunities against, would there actually be a United States?
No, you asked what would the world look like if we honored the Native American's claim, not been unsuccessful in wiping out their various nations. But, regardless, if the Europeans didn't have a massive advantage thanks to germ warfare, there's no chance they'd have been able to get a foothold on the new continent barring some extremely large invading force. Contemporary historians place the total number of NA inhabitants in the millions prior to Europeans landing on the NA shores. Granted, they weren't a unified fighting force, but they'd have been able to stomp out the incredibly small due to sheer numbers had they not been completely crippled by disease

Thanks for answering and giving your opinion. Much appreciated. Initially, it was intrigue on both sides with a little cooperation. Once settlers realized just what was available in land and riches, not to mention the complete freedom to work and build and live as one wanted, things changed. Of course Native Americans were pissed, but it was guns vs. arrows for the longest time. This new world with its wealth of natural resources and beauty was bound to be fought for by the settlers and Calvary. We had a similar situation later with the Mexicans and the southwest. Do we have the same feelings about that? Manifest Destiny on the surface can seem brutal and unfair, but where would we be without it? That's a much scarier thought. As I said, it continues today. China is playing the conqueror this time and the potential victim is us. They are using our own laws and silently taking over vast swaths of land and massive chunks of American business buy simply purchasing them. They have penetrated our university educational systems and spies live amongst us all. Republicans in congress right now are trying to change the laws to prevent any more of this from happening. So, the survival of the fittest goes on, with different weapons and different ways.
