BTW, uh , playas. This guy leaked GBs of information that no one could read in 10,000 years.

A whistle blower has a clear wrong that they want to right. This guy just dumped as much secret info as could get out there without knowing what it all was. Patriot??? He’s more like an influencer that needs attention.

I feel like this is a shot at me, but whatever. It seems like you think you know more than you actually do, and that’s ok. I’m ok with whistleblowers exposing deep state secrets if it pertains to our privacy. You may be ok with it, but some aren’t. I think his act was patriotic, but you may think it’s treasonous.

So that’s a green light to no privacy for any citizen? That’s where you and I disagree. If someone shows probable cause, then yes. If it’s a free for all like the patriot act, then absolutely that’s gonna be a no for me

Pretty sure the green light was lit with the Patriot Act. Everything else just ensued.

I'm not sure he had any choice.
He could have, at least, pulled a Daniel Ellsberg and disclosed his info while still in the U.S. but he, instead, fled the country before "ratting out" whoever. And now he's been granted citizenship in Russia. Not a great look. Perhaps they should send him to Ukraine to fight for his country.

American Hero

Anyone who thinks otherwise is misinformed on what transpired
They’re not misinformed, they’re just modern day loyalists who will defend the government no matter what war crimes it commits or what civil liberties it infringes upon

if you’re still defending the government after the past couple decades you always will regardless of what transpires

Unless you had a family member or someone you know was an operative and was compromised/killed as result of the leaks, that’s a weirdly strong take.

I work in national security and he’s always in our yearly training slides. I think if you sign up to serve this country (whether civil or militarily) and use information to harm it, that is seditious at worst. But I don’t care if he keeps his dick.

There are tons of countries without extradition to the US that are far superior than Russia. My *** would be sitting in the Maldives with dyed hair and a ****** mustache

Do you honestly think if you pulled what Snowden did against the feds that you’d be safe in the Maldives? Realistically you’d have a couple options, handful at best. Take your pick

how the hell could anyone call this guy a traitor? he literally gave up the entire life he'd built here to expose the govt illegally spying. left almost everything he had behind, lost touch with friends and family knowing it would likely be forever. seems a bit extreme to call a guy willing to give that up to expose illegal govt surveillance - if you are not outraged by that you deserve to live in a cage. the cost to him was fleeing abroad by himself hoping to find a place he could at least remain free. he didn't benefit from this at all....how the fk you call him a traitor?

and do your homework as pointed out above re his landing in russia. the us govt pinned him there and patted themselves on the back for doing so, he didnt intend to stay. and he absolutely had no coordination with russia to divulge anything. jesus the mccarthyist muppets in this country .... they are the absolute worst. its a mental disease.

I'm not sure he's a hero but I do think it's a ridiculous take to call someone who exposed that our government was illegally spying (and there is no doubt and has been proven that it was illegal) on our citizens a traitor.

Well, he did end up in Russia with a bunch of documents he stole, and not all of them had anything to do with the average citizen that was supposedly spied on.
