We’re gonna let someone who has never had a decision making role in education win the primary for superintendent? And she hasn’t even met minimum requirements yet.
She also has no education in education. She isn't qualified to be a long term sub in South Carolina. It's truly stupid.

Also, she currently is taking an online master's course from BJU that she won't even have completed by the election in November. A masters is a requirement for this position. It's insane.

With every election, I lose more and more faith in our elected officials. The current political environment does not encourage participation by good people and good candidates. So we end up with the turds in DC and in local positions.
Bingo!

It's just so damn frustrating. And it's our fault. It's not hard to do some basic research, but all people heard was she was Pro-Flag and anti-CRT. Doesn't matter that she isn't even qualified for the position by state law.

Most people don't pay attention to these lower level elections. I couldn't have named the candidates until a week or so ago when I got a few text messages. I didn't vote btw because I didn't consider myself informed.

Teachers right now are feeling do attacked and disrespected. It's really rough for those folks. No surprise that it's getting very hard to get new teachers.

My wife was as upset as I've ever seen her last night about an election. It's truly a travesty that this women was allowed to run. She doesn't even have the listed required qualifications for the job. A masters gegree is required, and she is claiming she will have one by the election in November. She is getting an online degree she just started from BJU that is supposed to take 18 months, by the listing on the BJU site.

Just said all around. And she beat a Republican with years of experience by claiming she was against the flag.

The fine voters of South Carolina don’t care as long as she claims to be a conservative Republican.

I for one am glad she’s getting a great education from Bob Jones U. It’s never too late to go back to school and learn that the earth is 4,000 years old.

Maness is no Republican...Was she qualified for the role? Yep. But don't ever believe she's a Republican. With open primaries in South Carolina, infiltration by the opposition party can and does happen.

By what standard was she not a Republican?

Also, since you say she was qualified, you then chose an unqualified candidate because they are "more" of a Republican that Maness?

That's absolutely stupid.

I know he's not a good Doctor, but he's a real Republican so screw the better Doctor.

BJU is getting blown up today by teachers. Their own website states that the degree she is trying to obtain takes 18 months and requires in class time as well. There is no way she can achieve those prerequisites.

Did I say who I voted for? Nope. I just said Maness, while qualified, is no Republican.

I just don’t understand how someone that hasn’t met the requirements for the position is allowed to run for the position.

And like yoshi asked, in what way is Maness not a republican? This is the dumbest thing our state has done in a long time. #43 in public school education and we just elected someone who doesn’t have a masters or any education experience to run the state’s public school system.

By what measure do you state that she isn't a Republican?
She was endorsed by the likes of Pelosi, Harris, etc. there’s also a reason why the SC GOP in at least my county, didn’t endorse or support her…and looking at the state wide returns from yesterday, that tree bore fruit.

hy she didn’t run as a democrat is beyond me. She had the backing of all the democrats. But, methinks she knew that SC has open primaries, meaning, she could try and weasel her way in under the guise of being an R.

Again, was she qualified? Most definitely. Was she honest? Nope. That was her downfall.

She had the backing of democrats in this primary because Weaver is an absolute disgrace and completely unqualified.

Did you ever consider that maybe she was endorsed because she was the best candidate? Shocking I know.

Instead the Republicans are now running a candidate who isn't qualified legly to have this position, and is running based on items that aren't even happening. She is truly an insult to any Republican with half a brain to be the candidate.

She also went to private school, attended BJU, and homeschooled her own kids. She has no freaking clue what our schools or teachers deal with every day.

She isn't qualified to be a superintendent of any district in the state, yet she is going to be the boss of those Superintendents?

I didn't think SC politics could surprise me anymore, but this is really, really, bad.

What else would you expect from a state that elected McMaster and ran off Tom Rice because he believed in the truth? The state has turned into a cult.
