The good news thread

As a bit of a glass half full person, I figured I’d start a thread for good news we’ve all gotten since 2021 started.

I’ll start. My kid’s new sitter starts tomorrow and she’s a recent graduate of Arizona State going to grad school here.

Rules broken to protect the innocent, but the ASU stereotype applies.

what you got?

Yeah, that's why I'm kicking myself in the nuts, repeatedly, for not getting it started in September.
Do you own ups stock? I have 100 a week put toward stock starting last month. Wish I’d have started 2 years ago.

The night of the OSU loss, I finished my bourbon in a cabin in New Hampshire where it was beginning to snow and reminded myself that I was going skiing the next day regardless. Then I crawled into bed with my beautiful wife who this time last year was going through chemo, and is now clear of disease, and slept like a f’ing baby.

Yes sir. I still own all of what I acquired over those 33 years (did other acquisitions to supplement, though).

Good news is that it's fairly stable. Bad news is, it will likely never grow at the rate of tech stocks, for example.

$100 a week is way to much money to invest in UPS stock imo. You can do so much better in other places. The incredible UPS stock days that @Clem'sSon enjoyed were in the 80’s and 90’s and remember that was part of his salary. Not sure of your age or how far you are in your career but I would max out my 401k and especially if you have kids a Roth IRA. You’ll do way better.

Had assumed this, glad you confirmed it. I figured you were looking for a reasonably painless (payroll deduction) way to add to the 'kitty,' plus have some skin in the game of the company you work for. I wish I had been smart enough to start much earlier.

In 2020 I Moved home to God’s country (upstate SC) in 2020 and have spent tons of time outdoors in the nearby mountains.

Closer to Family and spending more time with them.

Despite a Pandemic attended every Clemson home game safely and attended a couple of basketball games already.

We got a new puppy that has brought much love and joy to our family.

Joined a great men’s Bible study that meets weekly and been a great source of hope and encouragement.

In 2021 I’m back on the development train and will be closing my first deals in over a year in the coming weeks ahead

There are Plenty of negative things going on as well but staying focused on the positive is so much better!

Ups isn’t going anywhere. We both know that. I’m using that as more of a long term savings account.

Same. We have guys going full time at 21. I was 40 when I went full time.

The wife got COVID and had to go in the hospital for a few days. The good news is she is out and slowly improving.

I’m also working on something that could get me close to triple figures in a chunk deposit soon. Would be a game changer if it comes through.

My uncle is home from the hospital and recuperating from triple bypass surgery. Thank all on TI that prayed for him.

My agency hit the top numbers we could for 2020 and are getting the maximum contingency.

Also personally I made a decision to get off social media as its just rat poison for the most part these days and I have been happier and more productive.

Unless you work for the govt, don’t take your job for granted over the next few years
These doom and gloom posts, whenever there is an election, make me chuckle. Even if we see a massive shift to the left it will get pushed back to the right and be closer to neutral before the end of the next president. Always has and always will be that way.

The absolute worst it'll get is socialized health care and your taxes are going up because of it. Big business, which controls the government, has too much of a say for major changes to be made on economy side of things.

I hope you are right, but to me it seems as though the party of the left is VERY comfortable with the word socialism. TO me, that is an frightening thought for America. I would bet we will see a significant tax increase by 2022.

I believe that the right is way too comfortable with the term insurrection....unless it fails.

Perhaps. Maybe they got comfortable watching the insurrection throughout the summer? I guess only difference is they didn't loot.
Looting and rioting does not equal insurrection against our democracy.
Each are wrong, but only one of them is an attain our democracy.

You say insurrection, I say "mostly peaceful protest". Law enforcement are government officials, too. The Federal Building that was burned in Portland was a ...um...Federal building, too....They are both disgusting. Both strike against law and order and the heart of our democracy. But, stick to your cnn talking points. The riots over the summer were justified, as were the small business owners that were burned out.

A few hundred people Entering a building in an attempt to capture/fight/kill congress isn’t the same as a few (4 iirc)people burning down a federal building.

Thankfully, this country has grown tired of people like you and moved away from stupidity, bigotry, and extremism.

Your opinion is wrong and no longer matters. It’s over for ya, bud.

You can feel what you want.
Just know that destruction of public or private property because you are mad and unhappy is not an acceptable option of protest.

It's a ticket to jail, if truth be executed.

Only a few wackos would disagree with that.
