Yeah I know and I get it. Even get the humor. More than that he is an outspoken well known “Christian” (at least he professes to be). A lot of folks claim to be. But it’s a black eye to all of us who try to follow Christ. Most people will just revel in the fact that another “prominent” Christian has fallen and played the hypocrite. It’s a disgrace. That’s my opinion.
A black eye? Hes human. Hes bound to fail like the rest of us. And all sins are equal.
All sins will separate you from God (and deserving of hell ) if you are outside of Christ. And yes we ALL sin. But not all sins are equal. But yeah it’s a black eye. And a legitimate Christian would showtrue remorse and be repentant . He has made light of it and winks at it. Yeah it’s a disgrace. And it tarnished the reputation of all Christians in a sense.
Come on man.... he’s not just the president of a university.
He’s the son of a very controversial outspoken televangelist and president of a very religious university.
I don’t think we’d be seeing the same picture of Fr John Jenkins of Notre Dame posted in this forum just because he’s Brian Kelly’s boss. We aren’t seeing risqué picks of the Pope because he’s a huge fan of Messi.
(Personally, I don’t care about religious posts. Have em all day. They’re just as relevant as anything else. But he’s “not Hugh Freeze’s boss”, he’s about 99% more relevant than that.)

On top of what @SDTiger9 posted above, a lot of the fuss is that he has had his hand in kicking out students for dancing, listening to rap music, drinking off campus, watching “secular” tv, etc.
Then posts this picture, but if a student posted it they would be kicked out of school.
So most of the complaints seem to be the hypocrisy on his end.
Ok I really don’t know, how did Falwell steak PTL? Not trying to be funny, honestly would like to know.

Yes, he’s human as we all are, and yes, nobody’s perfect but this is one in a long line of questionable character decisions by the president of the largest Christian university in the nation. I’m amazed it took them this long.

when it was going south for Jim and Tammy, Falwell went to them and explained that they needed to take a back seat for a little while until it blew over. He said that he could run it for a few months.

He is one man so I don't think he represents all Christians in making them look bad, and he doesn't have to. A lot of so called Christians can do that on their own.

This evangelical stuff has to go. It's dangerous and it's getting more powerful. It's no secret that I am not a Christian, so plenty will claim bias on my part, but this stuff is the antithesis of everything Jesus stood for. It's the ultimate blasphemy - Bastardized, for profit religion.

No one who has watched the Falwells or Liberty can be surprised by this turn of events. Something like this has been completely predictable for decades. Even if you knew nothing about Thomas Road Baptist Church, 'Big Jerry' or his son, the day Liberty hired Hugh Freeze you had to know 'that 'something is wrong in the state of Denmark.'

I went to Liberty for a semester, absolutely hated it, dropped out before completing any credits (not my wisest decision ever) and came home before transferring to Clemson.
Certainly a flawed man in many ways but Jerry Sr had some positives attributes. Heard him preach many times & he was a very good speaker when he wasn’t being legalistic. And as much as it wasn’t the place for me there’s some good people there.
That being said, Jerry Jr is and always has been a moron. He’s been an embarrassment to the University and a ticking time bomb for a long time.
