Don’t know how anyone can say these kids will be completely fine since nobody knows peoples underlying and undiagnosed conditions, the fact that at least one kid on the team has type 2 diabetes, and that the BMI of linemen are in the 30s - and no, it’s far from “all muscle”

Since when does having a reasonable approach to something make you a clown? Clay Travis isn’t a source...he does, however, post sources on his web site.

Nothing he has said has been with a reasonable approach. His "positive" updates were always with an agenda in mind. He has picked up a lot of followers because somehow he has become an authority on things.

Also newsflash this didnt make him a clown, he has always been a clown.

Anyone that continues to peddle Clay Travis’ BS just remember he said this back in April. He was only off by 100k deaths or so.

“Loss of life will be in the thousands, at most, and not the tens of thousands or the hundreds of thousands or the millions as the most terrifying of these forecasts have suggested.”

There were just as many “experts” saying that the number of deaths in the US would be close to a million by June. Many people said many things based on very little information. We are still playing catch up on the information side.

And?

This number (I believe it was 2.2 million deaths) was the worst case on the high end of the prediction if we did absolutely nothing. We've done a TON and we're sitting at 125-130k deaths. I think the prediction seems pretty reasonable.

And if you followed it, you know they were giving forecasts for deaths with the precautions we were taking and they were still astronomically high. There was one week, can’t remember exactly which, where all the models were saying 60-70 K people were going to die and there would be massive shortages of ventilators, all in the following two weeks. I think this was supposed to be last week of March and First week of April. The point is, that the experts and the models they used were not right and were off by orders of magnitude even taking into account the social distancing and stay home orders.

‘Herd immunity’ is basically code for not having a clue what you are talking about. Just keyword search those who have used it on this site if you need confirmation.

Look, I like Clay, but Sweden’s approach to this is being called a fiasco. I was 100% onboard with them back in March, but it looks like I am wrong.

Just wear a mask damn it. For those that don’t:
you are going to cause us to miss CFB (and more importantly put sick folks at risk).

He said the mortality rate was going to be lower than the flu. It isn’t

To be fair, lots of outrageous claims were made early on by scientists, politicians, etc. that turned out to be way off. From what I’ve read, Travis has been a lot closer to the mark than most. Without a doubt he’s been wrong about some things, though.

that’s because you have a more alarmist view, so of course you are going to see his approach as unreasonable. All in all, he’s done a pretty good job of backing up his claims with evidence. Has he been off on some of his claims? Sure. But he’s been spot on more than he’s been wrong IMO.

His estimate was actually much closer than Fauci’s. This virus is a big nothing burger.

They are playing Premier League Soccer in the UK now for several weeks.....they have almost more than twice the deaths per 1000 than USA. They have been playing baseball in Korea and Southern Asia for months. @MF123 You, yourself, as a young person, has gotten Covid. How long did you feel like ****?

This is the worst thing that could have happened to US during an election year. It's all political. We got dementia Biden and narcissist Trump. Trump....tell people to wear face masks in public crowded places. If you go into a store and do not speak....you do not need a mask. The ignorance and stupidity of what is going on now makes me want to punch a baby. Protests of BLM are ok. Protests of people preaching their constitutional rights as American are not ok. All wrong...everyone's 1st amendment rights are more important than a virus. Your constitutional rights are more important than anything.

50 and younger healthy adults that want to live your life.... avoid the elders. 50 to 70 year olds that are healthy...take your risk. This should be so simple. If you cancel schools, you are just making things worse. The AAP wants schools to reopen and have given guidelines. https://services.aap.org/en/pages/2...ons-return-to-in-person-education-in-schools/

If you cancel college football this season, the small town college's local businesses will be destroyed for a very long time.....hotels, stores, restaurants..etc. Do not let fear dictate your life. https://www.wbrc.com/2020/06/23/tus...tball-season-due-covid-could-be-catastrophic/

Why wear a mask to save a CFB season that will never happen thanks to liberals that don’t want to waste a good crisis? If it’s not dying from Corona, it’s possible long term effects (just look up two post) What’s next, it will cause horrible gas and anal discomfort? lol

70% of the deaths in Sweden were from Nursing Homes. They had a good idea, but not with their elders. https://www.wsj.com/articles/corona...rly-families-blame-the-government-11592479430

55% of the deaths in the US are from nursing homes. Deblasio and all his northern liberals that sent Covid patients to nursing homes should be charged with 1st degree murder. The motive: They were intentionally trying to make the crisis worse to hopefully influence the election in November. The death toll in these southern states is not rising because we don’t believe in murder.

It’s going to be an interesting day when people realize it’s possible to get this thing twice.

No doubt...which is why I can't understand the wait till a vaccine crowd. It's unreasonable to get a vaccine every 3-6 months. Same for the herd immunity crowd. The herd crowd and vaccine crowd are the same people, essentially.

There's just so much we, apparently, don't know which is why I think we must continue to live "normally" but cautiously until we have more info. If these athletes, for example, have tested positive and only experience flu-like symptoms, I can't imagine cancelling football.

We are pulling golfers, who feel perfectly normal, off the golf course if they test positive. Just seems a bit extreme.

If we knew this thing was like Chicken Pox, you get it once, and you're good or you get a vaccine and you're good, then I'd be all for hunkering down for a few more months. My hunch is that it's not that, and more flu-like, where you can get it over and over...but I have no freaking clue.

But we will find out soon. People went crazy memorial day weekend, and it has been 5 weeks. The new deaths will tell us a lot.

True. There were a lot of misstatements made, and I’m sure we could nitpick what many folks said. Take WHO and CDC for example. Nobody changed their story more often than those guys.

Sure is. It was about 5-7% of reality. I don’t think we’ve done enough to reduce deaths by 95%. That is just a ridiculous statement. Half of the people refuse to wear masks. In reality the crazy spike has been caused by the heavy influx of young folks traveling to the southern states for vacations. The story will be told in a few weeks. If deaths spike, you guys poo pooing the fear porn just may be right. If deaths don’t spike, you will have to admit you are wrong. I’m kind of on the fence right now, but not dumb enough to try and justify a 2.2M death prediction as being pretty close.

How do you find time to post, when the ICUs are ramping up so frantically?

How would "herd immunity", if there is such a thing, help when you play a team from another school? Better question, would another school with little to no infections agree to play Clemson players with the virus? This is all a sticky wicket to me. And, yes, I do want to see college football in the fall. But, I am also a realist.

No, but its evidence that it can happen. How easily can it happen or how often, etc...we don’t know.

There’s still quite a bit we don’t know about the virus, including the long term health ramifications for those that survive it. Even more reason to be cautious.

I mean, I love ya bro, but over a million people have gotten this worldwide, and you’re pointing to some professional wrestling chick getting it twice?

This thing has been around for a while. If people were getting it twice, we’d absolutely know by now. It’s just statistically almost guaranteed.

It’s going to be equally interesting. When folks realize the common cold is a Corona virus
Sort of true. Common cold is more frequently a different virus

dementia Biden and narcissist Trump. Trump.
Trump also with classic early signs of dementia. What a pair we get to choose from.

If you go into a store and do not speak....you do not need a mask
sort of true. I guess if you don’t speak and don’t cough, don’t sneeze, don’t breathe No mask necessary.
