It was just murky. In response to a question about whether daycares should stay open or whatever business, he deferred to law enforcement. Sorry...I thought that was interesting. It just wasnt clear. He def muddied it up.

Besides the leeway given law enforcement to disperse groups of more than 3, the major take from today is that “everything is on the table”. Just yesterday the shelter in place was not really being discussed. In other words, it’s coming (my opinion)

It’s no different than what South Carolina is doing right now. Restaurants will still be open for takeout and a ton of occupations are considered essential that you don’t even realize. It’s just a phrase.

I agree. Just a jumbled up mess. Nothing was clear in what he said. Maybe I’m just slow.

Kinda my thoughts as well. Slowly edging that way. Was it Georgia that announced a shelter in place for the elderly or sick? That could be something next or follow the general shelter in place.

This. We have an office in NYC and are essential business. We got the information Friday from NY on what is essential and it is crazy how much is considered essential. Basically any industry you’d think add some more and anything that supports them.

Bars and restaurants are considered essential as long as only to go orders.

EDIT: was on a conference call with McMaster last week and he was asked about shutdown and said everything is being considered.

When you are as dumb as McMaster is you would think he would surround himself with smart people.

Today's news conference was one of the worst I've ever listened to.

They literally couldn't answer any press questions.

Several that stood out.

Can you have funerals? Weeeellll that's up to law enforcement I don't know. Just use common sense.

How many people on ventilators? I don't know we haven't thought about asking.. well how do you know if you need more? I don't know.

My god..

I totally agree with you conceptually, but my point was they are moving things toward a shelter in place slowly. Two weeks ago it was groups of 100, last week groups of 10, now groups of 3 and law enforcement has the legal power to disperse. Before today it was a ‘recommendation’

Still not sure why people keep acting like children about this virus. I don't like McMaster but come on... Enough with the politics and humor/hate... he said what I would have said and what most people would say right now if they were him.

Lockdown of the state is coming similar to cali and ny baring a miracle yet people will still complain and whine about the leadership. They didn't listen to the crystal clear request of their government last week when it counted. Now when its locked down they will complain its too much.....

Oh no doubt...I'm all about personal responsibility, but man...so many people in this country dont have the same definition or guidelines. Lol.

He didn't have simple answers today and made a fool of himself with the whole face touching comment.. Today wasn't a good day.

Imo very unlikely for shelter in place in SC.

I never pay attention to what he says, but I sure like to hear him talk. The same way I felt about Ernest Hollings. It’s amazing how many versions of the southern accent we have in South Carolina.

So how does one answer questions that no one knows the answer to without sending off the signal of fear and panic to it's viewers? I dont like frog horn leg horn eother but this nit picking nonsense is just that. Nonsense. This situation is unprecedented.... there are no right answers.

Weird mix of everything. I thought Dr Birx did pretty well at explaining things. Sadly, no Dr Fauci. Mentioned the numbers are going to get worse but I thought explained how some cities such as New York have a higher rate than others and how the differing areas will be handled on state/local levels. She also highlighted the age groups of those most and least affected by the virus. Trump did go off script and talked about more people dying from car crashes and people still driving. However, I thought the biggest thing from him was his desire to get things on a track of back towards normal for businesses similar to what he tweeted last night about the cure being worse than the virus. He was asked if Dr Fauci would agree with him not lengthening the 15 stay at home advice and he said "he doesn't not agree with me".

Its dangerous and reckless but the stock market matters more to him than actual lives.

I dont see a need for a stimulus plan now if we are back to normal starting monday.

If you are a leader in a time of crisis you gotta have answers to the easy questions. Or at the very least surround yourself with people that do have the answer.

Last Sunday someone asked him about deaths in the state and he literally said I don't know. The others said that isn't something they could track even though the CDC had already released that data.

This week it was hospital beds and ventilators. They knew they had 1154 ventilators but when asked how may are being used they had no clue. Same with hospital capacities. Those are simple things that will cost SC lives.

I don't criticize politicians as a general policy but he is truly doing a disservice to our state and the people in it.

Fauci is likely in the dog house for letting it be known that there are occasions when pushing Trump aside would be beneficial to the necessary messaging.
