I am afraid this virus is about to spin out of control. Not because of actual infections but to people staying home.
It won’t be long before they shut the trading floor door and tell everyone to work from home.
If this thing blows over and ends up being nothing this is going to end up being the biggest overreaction in the history of overreactions.
True, but this is 50x compared to the Y2K panic zit. Media tried to squeeze a teenage acne eruption out of it....and nothing. All systems fine. However...
This is a now a boiling cyst originating from a dystopian communist country who has done nothing but suppress the truth. Blame others. Hide all faults. Lots of citizens will die, but commies don't care about the individual. It's what commies do really well. The media is literally pouring gas on the fire now. See my thread on the "Pandemic Pantry" WTF.
it's not the virus itself, it's the panic that is here and only increasing. You can blame the irresponsible media for this. Wait and watch. We might be watching the March Tourney with empty venues.
Its just the media saying they are. Just like the media has generated thousands of deaths from the virus. All the media's fault. If it’s not a big deal, why are CPAC members going into self quarantine, including members of Congress ?
Thousands of deaths, while tragic, is nothing. NOTHING. Worldwide, 150k people die each day. Each and every day. If 1500 people die every day from covid-19 or whatever the hell they're calling it, that's only an increase of 1%. It's actually beneficial because the world is overpopulated, but to hear it from the news, this is an extinction level event. Its just the media saying they are. It’s a problem because of how quickly it has spread, the death rate is higher than a normal virus, and there is no known cure/immediate health steps to stop it.Thousands of deaths, while tragic, is nothing. Yes, there is some sensationalism in the sense that death tolls are a way higher percentage in the older and younger population along with those with auto immune deficiencies. That is true and it’s not highly reported. But this isn’t just a normal virus.
Also, the we needed this for overpopulation is a hell of a take. If it was one of your family members that dies from this can we say it was beneficial for the world? Would that be ok?
This part is what stuns me to hear people say. If it was their elderly parent or young child that died from this would they be glad since it was just “population control”?Also, the we needed this for overpopulation is a hell of a take. Just curious on your thoughts, I know you have been in disagreement with me throughout this.

I feel like you have mentioned you are in the industry, you hearing anything on all this, if I am wrong then my apologies
I love sarcasm. Too bad so many people never get it...Its just the media saying they are. Just like the media has generated thousands of deaths from the virus. All the media's fault.
1. Im fairly knowledgeable on the subject matter. It's my career on a technical level.@Tillman28

I am sure it’s nothing for a lot of you But don’t get stuck, if you can refi some debt maybe look at it.
It’s the fear factor! The media and others are pushing this thing and making people feel it’s the end of the world, stay home, run and hide, blah, blah, blah. Where is all the outcry from the Flu? It’s killed more people this year than the coronavirus!! But you see, the flu isn’t new and it doesn’t push this media agenda and fear mongering...R E L A X!

Shutting the trading floor wont mean anything. Most traders can access their systems remotely and the exchanges make us practice connecting to the Emergency Data Centers twice a year. The switch can happen overnight if needed. Additionally, the exchanges have updated all traders with their pandemic planning procedures.I am afraid this virus is about to spin out of control. Keep up the good work man. The more you and people like you continue to spiral into a panic the better.@Tillman28

the death rate from COVID is much higher than the flu. I don’t know how people can’t grasp this
So far, the new coronavirus has led to more than 100,000 illnesses and more than 3,000 deaths worldwide. But that's nothing compared with the flu, also called influenza. In the U.S. alone, the flu has caused an estimated 32 million illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations and 18,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
also:
World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a news briefing March 3 that the global case fatality rate for the coronavirus is believed to be about 3.4 percent, higher than the 2.3 percent reported in a China CDC study released in February. But a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine last week found a death rate of 1.4 percent among a group of 1,099 patients, suggesting the rate could be lower than those reported by the WHO and Chinese officials.
You’re talking about 1.4 vs 0.1None of what you wrote has failed to disprove my point that death rate from COVID is much higher than that of the flu. 10% of all comers with COVID in Italy have required icu care, which is an incredible number
last update
111,351 total cases worldwide
3,8882 deaths
62,661 recovered
38,829 active cases
5,979 in serious or critical condition
3,120 of the deaths have taken place in China out of 80,739 cases and 5,111 of the 5,979 in serious condition are in China.
The US has had 554 cases w/ 517 active. Just 22 deaths with 10 being in one hospice facility...coronavirus did not kill them. Their diagnosis did. Only 8 currently reported in serious condition.'
It is amazing in every election year, some sort of illness that cannot be cured pops up, media scares the **** out of everyone and then it fades away into the darkness.
From SARS, to swine, to ebola, to zika, to noravirus, to cornoavirus, etc etc.
