Bama defeats us 1-0 in the bottom of the 8th.

Our offense is gone as we can't hit the outside pitch and our opponents have clearly noticed. Grace Green is in a horrible funk with her inability to get a hit or meaningful at bat with runners on base. She, like Shay, is already backing away from the plate as the pitch is coming on the outside corner where neither can reach it. Green needs to be moved down in the order.

We also suck at bunting so we can't move runners into scoring position to pressure the defense.

Thank goodness we have Romero and Alo swinging well.

weel you cannot bunt when you don’t do it all year because you only hit home runs......... that won’t cut it here. Pitching is too good!

Well so far in game 2 our hitters cant even deliver against a mediocre pitcher. The first inning was a product of 1 hit and it took a WP to score the 2nd run. Since then they keep leaving runners stranded as it looks like everyone is trying to hit it out instead of driving it for a base hit. The more this game stays 2-1 the more the chance Bama either ties it or takes the lead.

The bats have been terrible

Two run shot by Bama cuts the lead to one. Fingernail biting time.

EDIT: Bottom of the 6th two run HR gives the Sooners the three run cushion back.

Pitching is dominant. Every team has left a lot of runners on base. UCLA has played better than OU and has a great pitcher that can hit. That is a big, big batting order advantage. Even so, I feel the home team has the upper hand in championship games and I think OU will be the home team in two of the three, if needed, games. That gives me hope. I like the batting order change Patty made last night. It’s going to be tough if UCLA wins tonight’s game but you never know. I’ve enjoyed watching every game. Women’s softball rocks. BOOMER!

So, we don't need to practice bunting??? In women's softball, bunting is a powerful tool. Against Wisconsin, we lost a close game when the tying and winning runs were scored on back-to-back suicide squeezes. What is our Plan B when the hitting goes into a slump?

J. T. Gasso is our hitting coach. He's the son of HC Patty. Guess we don't review film. OU may have another nepotism issue, imho.

3 out of the last 6. Possibly 4 out of the last 7. That's not a problem. It's just a weakness and everyone has one.

UCLA with all their power has used effectively the bunting/speed element of their game tonight to hammer us. Its' a weakness because a critical element of our softball game is abandoned. That's a team Gasso weakness. All the other teams we've played have it in their repertoire.

Remember MLB's Go-Go Sox (1950's) and the early 60's Dodgers (Wills and others). Bunting and speed were mainstays of their offense.

We're obviously a good team but we're missing an element to our offense that our opponents possess in spades and kills us with it.

It was imperative that we get Lyons home from 3rd after she tripled with 1 out in a 3-1 or 4-1 game at the time. Garcia is a high ball (rise) pitcher who gets a lot of strikeouts and pop ups with it. She got Romero on a pop up and the next hitter and our opportunity ended. Would've been a good time to suicide squeeze in that run. Seems we've had numerous occasions in the post season to advance runners and failed to do so BECAUSE WE CAN'T BUNT when our hitters are slumping.

J.T. Gasso is to our softball offense as Mike Stoops was to our football defense. Castigileone needs to be held accountable for allowing nepotism to exist in our sports programs.

The high level of our softball recruited offensive talent is negated by inadequate coaching. With that said, I hope our homeruns return against UCLA in the remaining game(s) because small ball is not an option. OUr girls, university and fans deserve better than what J.T. is giving us.

We didn’t bring the eye of the tiger killer mentality. We are laughing it up on the bench while they laugh, talk **** and clown us. We better come for blood tomorrow. I would have one of their top order batters hit by a pitch early. Set the tone. No more play nice. We need to come out and thump those girls tomorrow and teach them a lesson and battle Game 3 with the new edge and heart to win our Title. Screw UCLA.

I mean you know you never know where my bat may accidentally fly to tomorrow as well early. I mean I didn’t mean to loose control of my bat and it hit two or three broads in their dugout or their pitcher.... I mean you know **** happens.

Maybe UCLA is just better.

They are because they bring ALL the weapons of a champion and we don't. Bunting forces the defense to make a big play to thwart it. To know what I mean, look at the uncharasteristic errors we made tonight. Shay threw to the wrong side of 1st base covered by CC on a bunt leading to an error which opened doors for the Bruins offense. One would have to be blind not to see how the bunting game led to big things for the Bruins.

I agree that OU is missing the small ball on offense, small ball has been a part of softball for a long time, seems like JT is just worry about leading the country in homeruns. I just hope these seniors can find a way to win tonight, they are a good group and will be missed next year.

Last night was just a good old fashioned *** whipping and either the girls respond and play lights out or they just lay down like we have seen some of our football teams do in the past.

It seems everytime we get runners in scoring position the batter at the plate is trying to hit a HR rather than getting that base hit. The entire team seems to be doing that.

It would have been interesting last night had Alo blast went for a HR to give OU the lead but I think after that things continued to spiral south. Its going to be a huge load on Gs shoulder tonight to keep the Bruin hitters at bay. Maybe this is also the night the girls finally put timely hits together.

If they lose I will still be proud of this group and simply say UCLA was the better team. Just hope its competitive at least.
