Sometimes, I have preferred the remakes..

Sabrina: Version 1: Humphrey Bogart, William Holden, Audrey Hepburn
Version 2: Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond, Greg Kinnear---a bit more believable and better done.

The Thomas Crown Affair: Steve McQueen, Faye Dunaway
vs Pierce Brosnan, Faye Dunaway (as Brosnan's shrink). The remake was a bit more clever.


An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr was better than Love Affair with Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer,( which was far superior to Love Affair with warren Beatty and Annette Benng).

"Imitation of LIfe" and it's remake.

The young white woman screaming to the world, "she's my mother!" as the hearse began moving her black mother to the cemetery.

The only remake I liked better was "Cape Fear" with Robert DeNiro in the Mitchum role. Of course, I'm prejudiced toward anything De Niro does.............

Ah, The Big Lebowski. Maybe my favorite comedy. My daughter-in-law and I know the script by heart and we sit around quoting scenes. I say Donny's and she says Walter's part. Haha. Really! Yeah we are potty mouths.

Just watched Ted 2. I'm a terrible person so the humor was of my taste, so I really enjoyed. And Amanda Seyfried is blazing hot.

Now watching Mortal Kombat. A corny action movie but was my favorite at middle school age. I was a junkie for the *** kicking martial arts movies as a kid and the supernatural element in this one was the icing on the cake to make my it GOAT. Not to mention I played the hell out of the games.

It wasn't exactly a remake, but the Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow movie A Perfect Murder was based on an oldie, Dial M for Murder with Ray Milland.

The later version was excellent with great acting by those two and Viggo Mortenson.

The best line in the movie..."How's that for wet work?" as the Douglas character stabs Viggo in the gut, really hard and twisted the knife. Pretty brutal.:eek:

Watched The Martian last night. Pretty exciting story of survival, but it reminded me too much of Gravity with Sandra Bullock and had a couple of "oh come on" moments for me. The Martian is a good movie, but not deserving of the Oscar buzz.

May have to look into this. The first 2 Godfathers are two of my favorite movies of all time!!! Those movies are just pure brilliance!!

Billy, there were two versions, Saga and Epic. The one you would want to see is The Godfather: The Complete Epic. It covers the period early 1900's through late 1950's. The Saga version was a TV movie with a lot of the violence edited out. The Epic was definitely available for sale in the 80's. And there were some additional never seen clips added. Really good 7 hour movie. I hope I don't have the Epic confused with Saga. Haha. But you should be able to find the correct one.

Was Fonda and Bronson's face off in Once Upon a Time in the West the best ever? Was the Bronson, Strode and Canadian character actor the best western opening scene ever?

I read a book about the making of spaghetti westerns. Sergio Leone wanted Eastwood, Wallach and Van Cleef to face Bronson. Eastwood considered but was busy at the time. Van Cleef and Wallach wanted larger roles.

Fonda participated because a friend told him, "if Leone ever offers, take him up."
