Why is it good to be hated again?
We are a country that is supposed to lead by example and show why democracy is the most stable and prosperous way to govern.

A long time ally booing the US, based on recent threats that we will conquer the country and make it part of the US, seems like an odd thing to be happy about.
...but it is par for the course on SPS.

Seems like the consensus among lung-breathers nationally is that Canada has been booing during the US National Anthem for years, but that they may have taken it up a notch this week as there was a lot of national publicity about us taking them in. I don't think that talk is super serious, just as I don't think the booing was super serious.

This will all be nothing in about a week, but because it involves orangeman, it's all of a sudden an "existential threat", or a "constitutional crisis"... Canada is not just the Great White North, or America's Hat - all of a sudden now they are the "long time ally" who hate us and want to go to war.

Sheesh, I'd say to all the Canucks out there: lighten up, Francois.

These two things I know are true:
1) Canada will never be the 51st state
2) In no reality does Canada want a war with the United States

Spoken like a true Canadian (even if you aren't one). I guess you think Trudeau is the better beacon-of-light to show why democracy is blan, blah, blah?

I'll take the tough-guy who isn't corrupt, isn't a weak *****, and isn't afraid to flex U.S. muscle for the benefit of our citizens over anybody you likely consider the better role-model.

Right on cue with the sanctimony.

In life, those who are the best are very often hated, especially by those who want to be the best. Look at the most hated athletes/coaches/teams etc. and there's a big overlap between being hated and being the best. The US is the best. I'd be more concerned if we weren't hated.

Canada's like the scrawny nerd at a party pouting in the corner while he watches the US dance with the hottie he has a crush on. The corner nerd has neither the power to do anything about it nor the will to. But he will mope and tell anyone who will listen about how bad and mean the guy dancing with his crush is.
