I don't want to stand in the way of a good Auburn bash, but I want to address this.

It's easy to say that now, 5 years later, after we beat them in one game. But she did improve Auburn in her first 3 seasons and made the dance last year. And plus, you can't forget the disastrous tenure of Nikki McCray Penson (RIP). So it could be said that Harris would have been better over the past few years overall. And a bigger point is.....when you have a good thing going and good culture, and you lose the head coach, generally it's smart to at least try to promote from within to keep the good thing going. If it doesn't work after a few years, pull the plug, sure. But it's less risky than just blowing up the program, because brand new head coaches are always 50/50.

Let's take it to football. I bet Cohen wishes he had kept the Mullen train rolling now, rather than blowing it up with Moorhead, even if it did eventually lead to Leach. It was still a very rocky time and we wasted a good roster, similar to what NMP did in 2021. You ALWAYS take the path of least resistance to find that success, unless there is a clear reason not to. And in college sports these days, that opportunity don't come around that often.

Heck and in hindsight, you could almost say that we should have kept T-bro Arnett one more year rather than hiring Lebby. Of course that was just a 17ed situation all the way around. However, I still contend that had we still had Cohen (or any other actual competent AD) at the time of Leach's death, it would have been made CRYSTAL CLEAR to Arnett that the entire coaching staff would remain and they would run the Air Raid at least one more year. And it would have been made more clear that he only got the job because of a tough situation. And I'm betting his ego would not have gotten the best of him, and allowed those RuNdAbAwLers to gain control over the program.

It just shows how important strong athletic leadership really is. And I'm not supporting Cohen here.....he made plenty of mistakes, like I pointed out before.

Well said, she would have been much better than who we hired and we will never know if she could have continued moving us forward.

I will say that Johnnie helped Vic out. She definitely has some value, maybe she needs time as a head coach to figure it out. Vic hasn't been able to get to the final weekend since they split. I don't think the Tsips will make it this year either, several teams have already exploited their weakness.

Neither our coach or the barners have been the lead dog. I believe we are in a whole lot better position than we were the short Pinson era. Let's bring Johnnie in under Purcell. Ha.

Had Coach Harris been hired, what players might have stayed? Gaston had followed them to Texas, as did Matharu. Without Matharu Vic realizes he needs offense and takes Rickia Jackson with him. Perhaps Coach Harris would have had a positive impact on Jessica Carter her path may have been different. Maybe all the players stay with Coach Harris. Jessica Carter, Madison Hays, Jayla Hemingway, Matharu Gaston et al would have been a good nucleus. Perahps its easier to recruit to MSU than to Auburn. Heck maybe Madison Booker Decides to stay home and comes to MSU.
