It’s hard to play football at that size outside of a red zone TE type. People just get under you and football is about leverage most plays.

I’d stick with the hardwood.

#1 juco tight end Emeka Iloh. I guess none of yall have the internet for follow Miss State football. Just hang tight. I will spoon feed you the info. Late bloomer. Basketball player didn't start football until his senior year. Outgrew WR position and has played defensive end and tight end.

I can’t keep track of all 40 3* recruits we sign this year. This guy looks like a project at best. One other offer from UTSA.

Idk how they call him the #1 juco tight end either. He doesn't have hardly any stats at all but he had some other SEC interest. Size is all I can figure.

Following MSU Football and following the Daytime Soap that is college recruiting, more specifically MSU recruiting, are two very different things.

A lot of people follow MSU Football but don't hang on every word written on recruiting sites or posted on X about potential prospects.

I try not to, I usually fail
That I can definitely understand. It's depressing esp during the season. At least with recruiting and stuff you can think it's gonna be good. Hope springs eternal until about the middle of next August when you see it is a dumpster fire again

According to David Murray’s article, he has no stats from last year and not even sure if he played last year. Also, has never played TE in college as far as I can tell. Appeared in 3 games in 2023 on the DL for known JUCO powerhouse Coahoma Community College.

Just goes to show you how hilarious some of these rankings are. Has zero stats as a TE in JUCO, but is the #1 JUCO TE in the nation. Awesome.

3*? Some of these aren't even that but our roster was so 17d up this is pretty well year one of Lebby and staff. Going to take another year or two to get this all back on track.

So why the hate? 6’ 9”. 20 year old with four more years, five if he redshirts. #1 JuCo TE

Hell, this guy might be a DE or a TE and is new to football. No brained developmental type. This is exactly the type guy we need added late. Helluva good commit if ask me.

...or I can look at who came in and and who left once the dust settles.
I long ago decided to opt out of the handwringing and living on every word a teenager says or doesn't say about potentially attending MSU.

I will read up on it in like 30 minutes in late April and be just as informed as if I hyper focused on everything between December and May.

Not knocking you and others who geek out on following the portal, juco, and HS recruiting. It's a hobby.

6'9" is OT size not DL size. I can't imagine them trying to turn him into anything else. Good footwork ??? then add weight and strength.

Where do you see what other schools offered a certain player? I can’t find it
What I read was he had visits at Bama and Auburn. Looks like they didn't offer a scholly. I think UTSA is the only offer. But who knows. He might be good after a year or two. Late bloomer, can't coach size, basketball guy yada yada.

Doubtful, maybe he was in JUCO but not having any stats maybe they just assigned him that position. You know of many 6'9" TE's? Or DE's? Ed "too tall" Jones only one i remember. Any other DL you know of that are that height?
Why don't you read the article ? Apparently you did not read it. Oh wait...maybe he will play cornerback. Stop thinking

Pretty sure Montez Sweat is 6’7”.
the google says 6'6",

From AI

The average height of a defensive end in the NFL is 6'4" and they weigh an average of 283 lbs. However, defensive ends in the 3–4 defense can range from 6'3" to 6'8" and weigh between 285–315 lbs.

Hey look, if ya'll don't realize 6 9 is TALL for any position in football I don;'t know what to tell you. They may very well indeed try to make him a DE, I just don't see him seeing the field as a DE. Like a poster said in a previous post, football is about leverage and a 6'9" would need to be extremely quick and strong and be able to maintain a lower center of gravity than his counterpart.

If he is a project i'm fine with it but I think the project will be OT at some point in the project.

Wasn’t disagreeing…just stating I thought Sweat was about that height, or close to it.

Can he block?
Probly. Tight ends do a lot of blocking too. They aren't always running routes. Sometimes they chip block and then peel off for a short route. Idk what he can do honestly. 6'9 250 he can push. Some articles say 6'7. The guys writing this schitt don't even know
