You could put either Murray or Garza in a game against him and he'd outplay them, especially on the defensive end. I'm not talking about NBA prospects or NPOY numbers, I'm saying this kid is a better overall player than them because he's actually good on both ends of the court. They didn't win the Illinois state title because Harding likes to over dribble. They won because this kid is a baller again ALL competition. The MOST pleasant surprise of the Fan era. Awesome!

Most people don't develop on the defensive end, especially under Fran. We recruit the worst lateral athletes in the country. Including Garza and the Murrays. Now the Sandforts, Harding, at times Perkins. With Owen we got a natural dawg and athlete with enough bounce, etc. He's the most valuable Hawkeyes since Aaron White.. The other guys don't affect WINNING.
You evidently never saw Moline High School play last year, not one game, did you. Your opinion of Owen is quite flattering to be sure but he wasn't the only reason Moline won the 4A State Basketball tournament for the first time in school history, but carry on with your over the top bull crap, Owen is very good for a freshman and is only going to get better, but saying that he'd outplay either Murray's or Garza is extremely naïve and down right untrue, not even close....!
Freeman is better than Garza was as a freshman, but will he put in the work to improve like Garza did?
Who is the last Hawkeye big man who had 4 steals? This kid is different. That's why I made the post. He's a full court player with an otherwise terrible roster.
I'm sorry...but Keegan Murray as a sophomore and Luka Garza his last two years would have used the freshman Freeman. Garza was way too big, and skilled and would have his way down low. Keegan would just go right through him.

Sorry, I meant to include Perkins as the 1 other Big10 player. Just without a position and inconsistent. But yes, Freeman, then Perkins, then do a Deion with the rest of the roster and tell them they'll probably better suited for mid-major teams.
Harding has great potential. Sandfort can shoot. Would not give up on them.

I hope Freeman is as good as you think, but I think Fran has had a pretty impressive list of players make 1st Team BIG- I believe Gatens was his first, Marble, White, Uthoff, Jok, Garza*2 (NPY), Keegan Murray, Kris Murray. And throw in NBA players Joe Wieskamp and Tyler Cook.
