I can’t imagine paying someone almost 80 million…who has a winning season.

It could be entirely possible that TAMU will paying someone less to coach, than what they will pay Jimbo not to coach

The buyout money is insane, but that was on Texas A&M, and they can't get out of it now except to eat that money. But they certainly did NOT pay that money to win 45 games over 6 seasons, so the firing is well understood. They just have to eat it and move on......

Don't be surprised if TAM goes after Lane Kiffin. That's who I'd hire if I was them.

It looks like Arkansas fans want to fire Pittman. They want Gus Malzhan.

That can't be right. According to many on here early last year, Pittman is the greatest coach ever and shows what should happen at USC too.

They aren't like us in terms of self-image. Financially, from the athletic standpoint, not but a few people are in their league (you could count those schools on one hand). In terms of resolve, no one exceeds theirs. I applaud their sense of purpose.

They likely will be paying Fisher more, but if they find The Guy, they will do whatever it takes for money not to be an issue in keeping him - because they can pay the moon to more than one guy .

And I'll tell you something else. Had this prolonged buyout not been more favorable to Fisher from a taxation standpoint, they could have paid him in one lump sum if it were necessary. A few phone calls would have raised it all. We can't even fathom the resources at their disposal.

Is A&M still going to be a permanent opponent for us? Do we even know ow yet?

Anyway, I would not want to face Kiffin yearly.

I couldn’t imagine spending $80m to fire a NC winning coach to hire Elko. Don’t get me wrong, he’s done a nice job. But I can’t imagine that going over well.

How many $$$ are left and what can you get for those $$$?
As their former DC, there may be some on the board who have a connection and want him.

That's a good question. I hope someone can answer. I agree with not wanting to face Kiffin. And BTW, just swish and swat away Ward like a nuisance mosquito landing on your shoulder. I recall over a year ago he can be an a**hole at times, and have not forgotten him due to that.

The amount of $$ they have left is directly dependent on how much they want to spend. It's literally not an issue. On the day they planned to fire Jimbo, the AD met the chairman of the 12th Man Foundation (A&M AD fundraising arm) on the 50 yard line at halftime to accept a $160M check. That was a message. Don't worry about the buyout, don't worry about the next contract. We got it covered. Unreal.
