Two great games next week on at the same time at prime time Saturday night. I love college football. Usually the white out is a big TV draw but I suspect the ND matchup may garner the bulk of the national audience. Whatever the case each team is undefeated and both contests should be great fun to watch. Safe travels to all visiting fans to Happy Valley. Enjoy the atmosphere.

I agree with your assessment.

If I weren’t an Iowa fan, I think I would watch OSU/ND and flip to the IA/PSU game during timeouts. I think our game is going to showcase the D’s & have a fairly high # of punts.

Glad I have two tv’s, I will have both on….sound down on the OSU game.

Can’t wait for this weekend. I’m driving with my son from Iowa, picking up a 3rd Hawkeye on the way and meeting a 4th. Tailgating in lot 36 and excited for an amazing weekend!

Latest forecast is for a rainy evening. It’s too bad the game will be played under these conditions. I don’t think it favors either team frankly but it won’t be as much fun to watch or for the players to play in. The turf in Beaver Stadium generally holds up well under any adverse conditions. I suppose if anything it might result in a lower scoring game which could benefit the Hawks. On the other hand it might result in more turnovers which has been Penn State’s forte. We will see.

Of course this would benefit Iowa. They want a sloppy, defensive, field position, turnover battle and the rain will certainly help with that ... 2009 anyone? Hope it pours ... maybe they can play again later in the Indianapolis dome ;-)

I don’t think the rain was much of a factor. It didn’t seem to slow Penn State’s offense down or cause any of the turnovers. If anything, it hurt Iowa more than Penn State, but the Hawks were seriously outplayed in every phase of the game. Zero points and really they never even threatened to score.

Except that very first fumble was inside your red zone so there was that threat. Probably makes a little difference if Iowa punches it in, but overall it was domination. Congrats. You got a shot at the east but I think you lose to the big boys again but we’ll see.

Nothing new to report. Iowa has no offense led by a QB playing at 50%. PSU is a good football team. Is it great? We'll see how it goes when the other team avoids committing 3 or more unforced turnovers and when the 4th and one is stopped an inch short instead of, maybe, making the first by an inch and when they muff a punt on their own 20 and don't recover it themselves. Yah, then we'll see what's what.

PSU is about what I thought they were, but Iowa is even less. This Iowa defense caused no TOs and didn't score a single point, thus the shutout.

Iowa may go 8-4, maybe, because the soon to be history West Division is filled with mediocrity. PSU is likely to go 10-2, maybe 11-1. PSU may be better than Ohio State this year, so it may come down to whether PSU can beat Michigan.

And that's that.
