I see a team that has 7-8 of our top guys...Moreno and Momcilovic included....who could come back next year...and would make a ton of sense to do so. A team that should be way better in March than they are now
I see a team that looks decent on paper, and pretty much like a decent mid major in reality. Again. That should never be acceptable much less three years in with the resources available.I see a team that has 7-8 of our top guys...Moreno and Momcilovic included....who could come back next year...and would make a ton of sense to do so. You mean he's due?Hawthorne 9/9 on 2 point shots and 0/7 on 3 point shots. I'm no genius but...
You don’t think we look like a midmajor? Where did our entire team come from? What level did every single one of our current roster come here from? STUPID take? Look at the makeup of our team ffs.As a professional statistician, and one who for fun has kept UK basketball stats for over 40 years, I’ll add my thoughts:
1) its just 2 games, and not vs typical competion we will see. So for many players, these may not be close to where they will be in March
2) regression to the mean, especially if you see a stat way higher or lower than expected
3) only the uninformed focus on PPG this early in. Shooting % are a little more informative. But even those are very subject to wide variability, where 1 bad game (or 1 good game) can skew a guys stats. Focus more on how many minutes, how many shots, and the ratio attempted (2’s:3’s:FTs) guys are getting.
4) to the one saying these stats look like a mid-major, that is literally a STUPID take! Why? Because guys aren’t scoring 20/gm? All that means is we have a balanced team. Good or even great teams can be deep and balanced without big scorers, and bad teams can have big scorers.
Ok let’s evaluate that statement. Mid majors on this team: Kam, Wilkins, McBride, Pottter, not mid majors : Zoom, MM, MM, BH, MW, N, FK. I think you don’t understand what a mid major is. For you to be correct Washington, Iowa St and Ky would have to be mid majorsYou don’t think we look like a midmajor? Where did our entire team come from? You consider Washington and Iowa State high majors and not the same talent level as a good mid major I don’t know what to tell you bud. But keep lowering the bar and you’ll find out soon enough.Ok let’s evaluate that statement. Mid majors on this team: Kam, Wilkins, McBride, Pottter, not mid majors : Zoom, MM, MM, BH, MW, N, FK. They’re in P4 conferences and not considered a mid major. And by the way MM, BH and MW all started at Ky and never went to a mid major. You consider Washington and Iowa State high majors and not the same talent level as a good mid major I don’t know what to tell you bud. They look like a good squad at Western to me bud. You consider those schools on the same level as us? A couple more years of this kind of “program development” and we will be. We’re already starting to produce the same results that they do.They’re in P4 conferences and not considered a mid major. And by the way MM, BH and MW all started at Ky and never went to a mid major.
As a professional statistician, based on his career, what 3-point percentage do you reasonably expect to see Momcilovic finish at this year, especially factoring in the intense defensive attention he will probably get from most teams we play ??As a professional statistician, and one who for fun has kept UK basketball stats for over 40 years, I’ll add my thoughts:

Yes ... strengths and weaknesses should be more clearly apparent. Hopefully, our weaknesses are few and can be improved upon.Tuesday will tell us more. It won’t be definitive for the season but it is indicative of our potential - one way or the other.
Most knew PF was going to be a challenge and we have not even played teams with athletic size inside. N'Diaye is just not a twitch athlete on top of being physically weak. That is going to exposed against the meat of the schedule. After two games, n'diaye is the weak link.
.500 Washington to boot. Super power house bro.

We see them differently. I see a team that CAN be a tough out in March. Defense has to improve, but I think it will. What wins in March? Guard play. We have 4 pretty good ones....Three points shooting...we have that. A big man. We have some stuff.I see a team that looks decent on paper, and pretty much like a decent mid major in reality. Again. How far did Iowa State go last year and who knocked them out? He burned you with facts, you look worse by the postYou consider Washington and Iowa State high majors and not the same talent level as a good mid major I don’t know what to tell you bud. Better than ISU banner inbound. I think we’re talking past each other on a couple points and straight up disagree on others. We see them differently. I see a team that CAN be a tough out in March. As to next year, we could lose them all, but if we kept the top 6-7 guys, added Hampton and Millago, and another PF or shooter in the portal, that's a National Championship contender.

I think you have to get the best of either one or both to be where I want our program to be and we are not. Duke is. Kansas is. Bama is. You know the list. We are a Blue Blood. I’d like for our program to act like it.So, if you fill your roster with freshmen, does your team look like a high school team?
I would argue a player who is a standout at mid-major level is a better get than 95% of High School recruits.
Some players need an extra year of overall growth.
McBride did some fun stuff. Hawthorne too. He did that delayed euro step layin that looked like a baby Durant type play.Game one : Momcilovic looks like money well spent
Game two : I would've never thought I'd see Williams, McBride & Hawthorne look as impressive as they have been.
Defense and Rebounding better than expected, but they are going to have to understand giving up 3's like that will get them beat. Except yesterday to JMU. Permanent note to team self.
Glass half full.... let's look at getting a game up on Kansas.
NOW we can look forward to Kansas, bring them on. Whip that Jayhawk *** !
Go Big Blue !
I will say I’m warming up to Hawthorne, still a little concerned about him getting beat off the dribble but he’s definitely coming alongMcBride did some fun stuff. Hawthorne too. He did that delayed euro step layin that looked like a baby Durant type play.
The banner crap is childish nonsense, but on par for you. The goal is #9. I don't see a path this year, but could see one for next year. If Pope is coaching next year he has to mold this team. They have the talent, it needs to be developed. Put up or shut upBetter than ISU banner inbound. I think we’re talking past each other on a couple points and straight up disagree on others.
Legit. I’m in no way as optimistic as you but I can see your position and hope it happens. The banner crap is childish nonsense, but on par for you. The goal is #9. Thanks Brother, we want the same thing in the endLegit. I’m in no way as optimistic as you but I can see your position and hope it happens.
