Studies have shown Death penalty to be much more costly than life in prison...
That's the old Mario Cuomo argument. It's only true because the government pays for decades of legal appeals, longer trials, exhaustive procedures, etc.

I understand the debate over the morality of the death penalty but arguing against it because it saves money is just dumb. Change the laws that make it that way.

I.bet that frightens the little gash between your legs doesn’t it 🤣
In my lifetime, I've seen people freak out because someone said a cuss word on primetime television to a Secretary of Defense wanting to televise the execution of a human being.
I have seen people die before, its not a pleasant thing. If you think it is, then you might need to seek some help.

And we could argue that, but there are some serious issues with the death penalty such as access to legal council for poor defendants, etc. There is a long well documented history of inequality in death case results due to financial means.

Honestly, you and I could probably go back and forth about this topic and nauseum, but this in California isn't really that big of a deal.

this debate has been going on for decades, and likely will go on for decades more. We go from an eye for an eye, to the preservation of life...

Agreed. It's honestly not a debate even worth having since everyone is so dug in on their positions.

I tend to be against the Death Penalty because of historic issues on inequity and repeated cases of innocent people executed after new evidence.

And you are an idiot who can't have a discussion without middle school level intellect and insults.

Feel free to provide facts to support your "position" whatever you are actually trying to say in this thread.
“ And you are an idiot who can't have a discussion without middle school level intellect and insults.”

🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, so I can kinda see both sides of this and truly no one has been executed in CA for over 20 years, but I'd leave it in place. While I understand that life in prison is arguably worse than death, I still think that those victims, and especially the families, deserve the "justice" that was on the table at the time of conviction. You want to change it prospectively, then fine, let the voter's decide in a referendum, but don't do it retroactively when everyone involved knew the rules and consequences at the time of adjudication. It's also a weird spot to place yourself in as a democrat as well legislating morality, and especially life vs death, while also being pro choice.

For the record, I am pro choice by the narrowest of margins.

If these people aren't guilty they shouldn't server life in prison either. The reality is they have been found guilty at least twice in you include appeal. Most have eye witnesses or even video evidence. I see no sense in it dragging on. If your argument is that they didn't have good lawyers that's a separate issue.

I was responding to a post that was claiming that this move would add millions of cost to the budget. I was pointing out that studies have shown that not to be true.

And I'm pointing out that freeing them like dems like to do is lower cost yet.

Your "solution" isn't one anyone has discussed or considered and isn't relevant.

Lining all convicted criminals up against a wall and shooting them would refuse costs as well...
