Sigh...let's be clear, Hubert ran set plays so much that fans complained that he wasn't running more freelance offense. I do think CB does allow the players to freelance too often and it results in 1:1 YOLO situations from players too often.

My biggest gripe with CB is not having shooters when it feels like jump shots are the only open shots you get when your freelance offense can't break anyone down off the dribble.sound fmailiar?
Hubert's offense was dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble somebody throw up a brick with the shot clock running out. He couldn't even design picks to get Love and RJ wide open looks. Had no clue how to attack a zone defense. That's what I've been seeing out of CB even when we've had a good center. No inside out to free up a shooter. I think CB is a good recruiter, not exceptional, and the players like her, but that's what scares me. A coach can't be a friend, they have to be the boss. Also, was an issue with Hubert. I don't see CB making in game adjustments and I've attended all but handful of the games since she became coach. It's much easier to judge a coach when you are seeing the whole court and watching her during a huddle and on the sidelines as opposed to the view the TV is showing, Her and Hubert both have the arms folded stand like a statue down pat. I just don't see CB as a good coach. She's decent but not top of the line. She can't beat good teams. Only once in a blue moon and usually just dook. Right off the top of my head, other than dook which is a rival game, I can't recall her beating a higher ranked team or a favored team.

She beat the dookies last year. Also beat the wuffies when they were higher ranked.

CB has some serious tlent coming in next year to go with Kate, Nyla and Ciera/Bofia.

I would not give up on CB or the Tar Heel WBB to soon.

UNC's final AP ranking in Banghart's tenure:

2020: UR
2021: UR R64
2022: #17 S16
2023: #20 R32
2024: UR R32 (all scholarship 1&2 guards but one out injured)
2025: #12 S16
2026 #13 S16

2027 preseason ranking was #12

It is pretty polarizing on this board whether that is acceptable or not. The progression is slow, though many fans feel they see continued promise for more gains, if not clear progress.

But it does not compare at all to the achievements of UNC MBB the last 7 years: the men finished the season ranked once and had a magical run to the NCAA final as an unranked team another year. So two total S16 appearances. For the rest an unranked team either was eliminated first round or missed the tournament completely.

It is estimated that UNC's player budget is roughly in the #20-25 range likely, though such reports are very unreliable. But it is certainly not a top 10 team.

The perennial powers like UConn, UofSC, TX. LSU, USC probably have 3X our budget. They have teh freedom to fill their entire roster with top 15 players, then see who emerges and who flushes out. A team like UNC needs every single top tier recruit to be a hit; no misses.

The men's team was probably a season or two slow in truly embracing NIL, but it is now operating higher up their own NIL ladder than this women's team is. They are also selling a blueblood tradition and fan support that the women's team cannot match.

It's definitely a different world now. One I don't care for. I'm losing interest. As I've said Im up in age, been involved in sports since 1962. There are more important things in my life now than getting involved in the greed and selfishness of the majority of today's athletes. No loyalty now or trying to build teams with 4 year players. I'll continue for now to get season tickets and donate to the Rams Club and NIL but not sure for how much longer. It's time for younger people to stop living on the message boards and social media running their mouths and take over for old asses like me.

I know better than to get on these post-game threads when we lose. Just look at some of the above posts. Pretty disappointing, to say the least.
Not as disappointing as the game!
I've been attending women's basketball games for over 40 years and I have had enough of CB. Carolina is not Princeton. What she did there doesn't work in the ACC or anywhere else. She is not a good coach. She reminds me of Hubert. Just puts players on the court and lets them go. She can't beat good teams because her teams are undisciplined. They lack fundamentals, run no offensive sets, can't shoot layups or free throws, only pop threes once in a while. They don't box out on the boards and play very little defense without fouling. Her teams have very little basketball IQ, It's a CB trademark. And Brooks makes horrible decisions over and over and she leaves her in the game instead of teaching her.. Before some of you rake me over the coals, and you have a right to voice your opinon just as I do, I am a 45 year member of the Rams Club and I played D1 ball for a top coach but I won't mentiion who. I will respect your retorts, but you must respect mine as well. We need a better coach. Go Heels!
Amen. Same ole same ole. Im hate it, but it is what it is. I'm not gong to waste my time watching it. I didn't watch Monday and glad I didn't.

With what disposable income? I’m supposed to increase my rams club donation when I’m already trying to save for 2 kids to go to unc one day.

Like people complaining about no one showing up on a Monday weekday. Yeah no <removed> we have work and kids

Im not blaming you, just screaming at clouds

I disagree, HB when he had Ingram, Bacot, and company when they won the ACC conference that year was not dribble, dribble, dribble. They ran when they could and they ran sets when they needed to. That team was fun to watch. It sounds to me like you hate HD and you just will not let it go. HB is no longer the HC at UNC. I am surprised you did not make a comment about Coach Malone. His first game was not pretty at all. They got beat on the boards by Western Carolina who they manage to beat in the Dean Dome by 8. I would love to hear you take on that game and him unless you are scared to say something about him.

I can't take anyone seriously who once said on here that UNC's women's point guard had a 43 or 46 inch vertical jump. That was absolutely hilarious and I still laugh even though you said it last season. David Thompson had a 46 inch vertical jump. Vince Carter had a 43 inch vertical jump. Dr. J had a 42 inch vertical jump. I had a 39 inch vertical jump. I'm sure you are way too young to remember those 3 who had the highest recorded vertical jumps. But a 5'11" women's point guard that could not touch the rim? With a 43 inch vertical leap? lmmfao at you. You have no credibility. By the way, I am very good friends with Hubert so I don't appreciate you mouthing off saying I must hate him. Bush league on your part, but your pattern on here is to take issue with quite a few posters who don't agree with your crazy posts. I've known Hubert for over 50 years ever since I met him when he was a kid and I was playing with Sweet D and my good friend Phil Ford. Walter (RIP my friend) is his uncle by the way so careful what you accuse me of. You don't know who I am nor who I played for, but others do. Don't reply to me anymore. I'm taking the moderator's advice and not posting about the men's basketball on here. I was merely using it as a comparison. Sorry about that moderator.

Not giving up mainly because she's probably not going anywhere. But I want to see more progress in the program soon. Feels like we've plateaued and I'm tired of going sideways. Maybe I should be happier with being consistently just outside the top 15, but I'm not. I want to see evidence that CB can get to the next level and I've become very doubtful she can.

UNC80 I sincerely believe we are ready to move from Sweet 16's to Final Fours. We have Kate, Nyla and Ciera and top ten talent Micah Ojo and Ryan Carter coming in next season.

Kate is a drawing card for other great players. Micah and Ryan along with Kate will attract even more great players.

This years team has to show they can make shots that Kate creates for them. If we do we advance.

Last season whoever drew UConn or SC or Texas probably would not advance. We lost to UConn.

As for this years team I wish we had Nyla Harris and Lanie Grant back. They could both make shots. I am waiting for this years shot makers to step up.

Again, Kate should not be trying to create shots for anyone because she’s potentially a better scorer than playmaker. I say potentially because she’s only shooting thirty-something percent in her 3 games thus far. I do believe she will settle down and become more efficient but she’s wired to shoot, not make plays in my opinion. RK had 7 assists and ONE turnover last game, the ball needs to be in her hands as Kate continues to learn how to make the right decision.

that is certainly a fair argument, though i do not see Harpring as a standard spot up shooter. Her best asset is the dribble drive. Conversely, Kelly is better at spot up shooting than dribble drive

please take the men's basketball discussion to the men's basketball board.
I only posted my comments because someone brought in HD who is no longer coaching at UNC and I thought this was irrelevant to bring his name up; however, if I am making a comparison between the men's team and women's team than I will bring up the men's team as part of my discussion if there are similarities.

Well, she has made it to the sweet sixteen two years in a row now which means this is some progression with the women's team now. CB does want to make to the elite 8 and she prove this by going out and bringing in some serious talent for next year.

Comparison is fine if that is what you want to discuss. I did not call out that thread. Arguing about the MBB team is for the MBB board.

I was getting on 2forheels because he was the one who brought up the men's team when HD was coaching. I thought that was not a good thing to do since HD is no longer the HC and because he put it on the women's board which, in my mind, was not relevant.
