We already went over this. Year 2 was a mess, we are talking about year 1 and in year 1, we saw a team that absolutely did not quit, especially in the Gonzaga game.
Year 1 I don’t think they really quit, they had a few stinkers where they didn’t play very hard. Mainly those early December losses. Outside that they lost due to injury more than anything.

I don't know if you were in MSG for the Ohio St game. But I was. They definitely quit. I don't know if you were in Bridgestone for the SEC tournament. But I was. I don't know if you could call the Alabama game quitting since they never started playing it. But it was an embarrassment.

That was season one. I did blame the players then a rag tag group thrown together at the last minute and we would see no more of that when Pope got his guys. Little did I know that it was the other way around. Those rag tag players pulled Pope's *** out of the fire. Year 2 was pope on full display.

I've said this before and still believe it, he cannot be this clueless about everything basketball. He played for Pitino and Bird. He did not play like he coaches. He has to be trying to get fired.

But even if one excuses year 1 because of all the circumstances, year 2 just cannot be excused. It's not the losses. It's the effort. We absolutely quit in MSG against Mich St. We absolutely quit in Bridgestone against Gonzaga, (again, if we ever started?}. We absolutely quit at Vandy. Noweh even walked out of bounds with the ball down 30. But they did "touch money"!!

Excusers want to only look at the record and use injuries as the excuse. That never excuses effort. Pitino's first team was 14-14 and UK fans loved them. They didn't love the record but they loved the fight. That season foretold what was coming. Well, so did Pope's first season. Many people tell me I'm wrong about his trying to get fired and he really is just this bad. The bottom line is still that he is bad for UK. Even if not by choice.

I think he goes, he certainly looks like a pro with his shooting and mid range game. He has great size and some team could make good use of him. Makes no sense why they don’t want him to me. That said, I hope they don’t and he return on a massive NIL deal. Gimme MOM 2 years please!
Oh I know he “wants “ to go . He “wanted “ to go last year. Just depends on if it’s worth taking a chance or making guaranteed millions for another year.

I can’t belive their is not one pro team that isn’t itching to try and work his shooting into their lineup. With his size I could see him being Klay Thompson like, without the defense.

It would be unreal to have a frontcourt that consisted of top 10 guys over 7' tall and highly skilled.
At 7'5", Cherif is a massive game changer
THink of

PG- Mason Williams is normal size...but strong body
SG- Wilkins is long and twitchy for a SG
SF- Hawthorne is a long and Tayshaun Prince-ish...defensivley length wise
PF - NDyia
C - CHerif

Not saying I want that to be my starting five but we can put that on the floor at times next year if the roster holds....that is a hard defensive team to handle.

I checked and saw he was listed at 250#. I wonder what's a good weight for a 7'5" college BB player? Not a lot of data to have a definitive answer.
Shawn Bradley was 7’6” and 235.
Tacko Fall is a big dude at 7’6” and 290

I'd like to see Pope coach a guy like this too. He had Matt Haarms one year at BYU as well, who was pretty good there and at Purdue. He weighed 250 lbs at 7'3.

Zack Edey was 7'4 and 290 lbs. Aday Mara at Michigan was 7'3 and 240 lbs.

LSU's big Israeli center, Gilad Levy, that just got eligibile is 7'3 and 275 lbs. He looked pretty good for them in mop up minutes.
