If it was rigged wouldn't ND be higher?
What SEC team being in right now is the issue?
Ohio State is the first out...they lost Sayin or they'd probably be higher
Are you saying wake should with their best win being unranked Louisville? Texas Tech who doesn't have a QB?
I'm confused by the conspiracy logic (or lack there of) being used here
And let's be real ND and UCLA are ranked way too high in the other polls based on what they're done.

At least Notre Dump got buried at #11. Of course, if they beat Miami they will probably be #1.
ND’s ranking is rigged as well. They are at 11 now so that they can easily be moved out of the top 12 with a loss. I believe if ND is top 12 at the end of the season, they HAVE to be selected for the playoff. Tough to move them out of the top 12 if they are ranked at 5 and lose a close one to Miami. But if they win, they deserve a playoff slot IMO.

So if there was 24 game playoff like a few want there would be 10 SEC teams ranked in top 24. No way a team that finishes in bottom half of 16 team conference should play for national championship in football.
They won't be ranked by the end of the year...they still play each other.
8 is realistic

That's a great point. Notre Dump is legitimately a playoff team if they beat the U and have one loss but legitimately not a playoff team losing to the U and having 2 losses with their best win being Wisky or UNC. So the committee is setting that up for them to either skyrocket up to a top 5 team with a win or free fall into oblivion with a loss. Having them at 10 or 11 after losing to the U and thus being able to weasel their way into the playoff would be criminal.

Major injury situation for the U -- Malachi Toney out, ankle surgery. Can Miami maintain the top spot without this star WR?

Really can't wait until they expand to a 48 team playoff. This will generate great interest in every 47-0 first/second round game, not to mention making those regular season games mean so much more. The entire SEC will get in of course. Stadiums will be sold out and tv ratings through the roof.

Cannot be a real playoff with less than 48, just not fair. There are not enough 7-5 teams represented with a smaller tournament.

Based on the current rankings:
Top 8 teams get a first round bye
Next 8 teams host R1 game
9 BYU hosts 24 Florida
10 Miss hosts 23 Oregon
11 ND hosts 22 Arizona
12 Ohio State hosts 21 S Carolina
13 Tennessee hosts 20 S Calif
14 LSU hosts 19 Iowa
15 TX Tech hosts 18 Missouri
16 WF hosts 17 Houston
Top 8 would host winners of R1 for R2
QF, SF and finals would be held at bowl sites

Getting upset about the rankings is silly.

1. It's the last ones that matter.

2. We aren't going to be in them anyway.

Agree we are out and should be.

However, unfortunately, the final rankings are based off of current rankings. An overrated team beats another overrated team, and the winner improves based on beating another bogus ranked team.

And how much better are those games than howl games since the winner moves on?

I assume you mean bowl games? I think they would be much better than the opt out bowls. Players are going to play for a chance at the title. I believe it also makes regular season games important since rankings, byes, and hosting will be determined by record and perception.

That is what makes a 24 team playoff such a Joke, you will have 3 and 4 loss teams in the playoff.

So what? Why isn't 9-3 worthy of a playoff game...especially in the Big Ten and SEC where they play real schedules?
This old school mentality of needing to be undefeated or close to it doesn't make sense with the parity that now exists.
