Moving him off the ball will help because he just cant beat a pg off the dribble even low level comp. We aren't running high ball screens for him (for some reason) so he really has very little offensive value at the moment.

If he's this fragile, he is going to have a really hard time this season because sec guards will eat him alive.

Like how he got to the rim and finished. Hit his fts and didn’t hesitate drilling a corner 3. Pretty good defensively and waded in for a rebound. Physical strong guard. Be a defensive stopper.

Cut those tos down and he’ll be fine. Emotional leader. Need him in a good frame of mind. Don’t have to press with the emergence of Wilkins and Williams. Just play hard and enjoy it. Tune out the negative fans.

His style is a bully guard, not a finesse guard.
Thus, his errors are more glaring.
He is enduring an adjustment period.
So are the fans.
He wants to be what we need him to be.
Hopefully, he can and will be.
Yeah he seems just a tad slow getting where he wants to go. Needs to build a little more dart to his game. Think he has the athletic ability just has a slog style of dribble.

Diallo was always fine. It's just the impatient village idiots that thought he was broken or not capable. Good on him for having a strong game. He will continue to improve as the season progresses like all teams/players playing together for the first year do...
“Diallo was always fine” 🤣

He’s still has a lot of work to do to get to fine. Calling other people idiots when you make goofy comments likes this is hilarious.

He still receives the ball turns towards the defense, looks and dribbles. He’s still a liability at this point and not an asset. Dribbles into nowhere and loses the ball. All that was on display last night whether he made a few layups or not.

This isn’t being mean. It’s an honest critique of his game up to this point. Suggesting he’s always been fine isn’t an honest critique, its ludicrous.

OK Coach. Thanks for letting us know your professional point of view. I look forward to watching your team do great things this season lol.

Yeah, he just doesn't seem to have the ball handling skills need to be an effective PG. He has the body to be a rim attacking 2 guard like Oweh hopefully.
not just the ball handling, but the decision making and skill. basketball now is like 80% pick and roll offense created somewhere on the court. if you have the ball, and a guy goes under, you need to be able to take and make the shot. if not...the defense has a massive advantage. if you arent a shooter, you better be super fast and can get into the lane to move the defense....like the fears kid out of michigan state who isnt a shooter but will get 8-9 assists per game. diallo has none of that. so him running the offense is going to clog the lane for moreno. and no one needs to help off to stop diallo. its why the first 7 minutes were so terrible on offense. we can get away with it with a team like manhattan, but a 7 minute bad start to a game usually means you are down 10

a poor mans year 1 oweh is a good comp but i dont think diallo is as athletically gifted, explosive.

"Fine" isn't good enough. We have 3 starters who are good enough to be starting on a contender for SEC championship and Final Four. Diallo and N'Diaye are "fine."

Yes. That is exactly what we mean. Civility matters to some, others like to throw feces. Kid played well last night, and deserves to be recognized for it. Sorry that causes you to melt into tears, smh
He did play well last night, but look at all the so called fans that were blasting him on the game thread last night. A lot of people on here are so toxic. If the team isn’t up by 20 in the first 5 minutes then they crap all over everything. I would suggest that those posters are the real snowflakes.

Diallo had a nice game, let the game come to him and I didn't really see much over dribbling from him. This game I think helps give him confidence on how he can be successful in our offense.

BBN needs to keep encouraging this kid and give him the grace for mistakes. He could end up really good if he cleans some things up and finds his place.

Agree! In my experience, the first to cry snowflake, IS the snowflake!,

I think he's playing out of position. He's closer to Oweh than SGA. Let him be a bully 3 man as opposed to a point guard. Obviously he can run the point in an emergency but Wilkins and Williams should be PG1a and PG1b. Let's not force a square peg into a round hole. Let Diallo do what he does best, whatever that is. Off-ball more than primary ball handler for sure.

My thoughts as well.

I think his better role and position is a 2G, secondary PG role, play some small ball 3, he should be good to defend all 3 spots with his length and height.

We just need to figure roles out as a team as the season goes along. This is the very first game we played that counted. The 3 exhibition games showed us a lot of things. Let's learn from it all.

We also want to have role playing room for Noah, getting Kam back and getting him significant minutes as well as finding his role ( which would seem a little more defined when we do get him back ...) add in Williams and Hawthorn ... we got a solid, deep team.

I liked the sub pattern with Big Franck, Hawthorn and McBride on the floor together. As long as we get shooters in there with them, that's a solid defensive lineup for second tier players coming in to spell the starters.

Things are shaping up. Long way to go, but it's looking pretty solid.

Support the team, support Zoom and get everybody comfortable with finding and then executing from the roles they will have.

Go Big Blue !

If Zoom can reliably finish at the rim, he could be the last-shot-of-the-game guy -- isolation, take it to the rack and finish or get fouled (or both).
