Republican policies bring about recession and perpetuate poverty. The southeast as a whole has been overwhelmingly Republican for decades, yet remains the poorest area of the country by a wide margin

South Carolina is a part of the poor southeast that has chronically voted Republican, so I agree that this blip of voting in a democratic senator will unfortunately be just that, a blip
Interesting…. What are the demographics you’re comparing? I think you’ll find states like SC are much more diverse than say Iowa or north eastern lib states.

She’s a quack. She’ll get destroyed in her reelection bid and I’d take 10:1 odds on it right now. This won’t happen two cycles in a row, the pubs will get the message and run someone with a clue in SC. I cannot speak to the rest of the country.
Its 6 years so a lot will happen between now and then. If she joins the far left wing I agree she won't last long in SC. However, if she governs moderatley, like her constituents seem to be, she has a chance to establish a foothold in SC.

I can't say i blame the people for voting against Darline. She is a very uninspiring candidate and at the heart South Carolinians don't like to be told what to do. They didn't like Trump coming in here and appointing Darline. And quite frankly, i don't blame them one iota.

The Republican party is alive and well in SC. Alan Wilson won with over 1mm votes. Competition is good. The SC Republican party needs to get back to it's roots it appears.

Ah yes. This explains why the poorest congressional district in the state continues to reelect Jim Clyburn and voted for Kamala Harris.

I guess all that poverty is what attracts all those people moving here. The most moved to State in the Union.
Correct. You can make a lot of money in a wealthy state and then move to SC where your dollar goes further. It’s like moving to a foreign country with a favorable exchange rate, but you get to still be in the US. It’s not rocket science

In addition to my comment about Clyburn’s congressional district, please see below from ChatGPT. Poor people overwhelmingly lean Democrat.

Among Americans with annual household income below $50,000, Democrats hold a clear advantage over Republicans.

According to the 2026 Fox News Voter Poll:

Democrat 56%

Republican 41%

Other / unaccounted for 3%

2026 voter poll, respondents with family income below $50,000.

Democratic advantage: 15 percentage points.

For comparison, Pew Research's 2024 report found that registered voters in its lowest income tier were 58% Democratic or Democratic-leaning versus 36% Republican or Republican-leaning. Pew's income tier is adjusted for family size and local living costs, rather than using a fixed $50,000 cutoff.

Makes sense, poor people recognize that Democrat policies are more effective in lifting people out of poverty so they vote that way. A poor person voting Republican is just voting to stay poor

Except in a foreign country you have to obey their laws and you don't get a vote.

Absolutely. America is and always has been a melting pot. Its who we are, whether you like it or not.
Revisionist.
European settlers formed the core of free society and the political nation. By the late colonial period and 1790 census era, whites were roughly 80% of the counted population. Among whites, people of English/Welsh ancestry were the largest single group (often estimated around 48–60% depending on the source and method), followed by substantial Scots/Scots-Irish, German, Dutch, and smaller French, Swedish, and other European contributions.

Honestly, the state probably needed it.

We let that attitude permeate our politics since the days of Stom Thurmond.
Our healthcare system can use a lot of work, so maybe she can help get something accomplished there.

The recent elections tell us what the people want to focus on. And it seems to be very clearly affordability. Neither party delivered and i think the electorate will go back and forth until one does.
Where did Annie Andrews come from? Like how did she get randomly chosen to run for Senate. I'm in the medical circle and I understand if you're like the CEO of MUSC or Prisma how you could get into the political realm. But she's a single mother with 3 kids and pediatrician. I mean it worked, but why would someone throw X amt of $$$ for her to run for a major office like senate?? Gotta be an angle.

To live in Mt P as a single mom with 3 kids, Pediatricians make ok money, but I'm assuming she had to cut back on time she is working to run a campaign? She's gotta be getting paid by someone to agree to this.

What laws specifically?
Election interference & fraud. Do you think Elon musk overtaking the government in 2024-2025 to cut all of the investigations into his companies was in good faith?

Stop kidding yourself. Elon Musk is nothing more than a charlatan criminal, which explains why he looks up to Trump so much, they are the same person, fraudulent criminals

Or they are voting for handouts, which keep people in poverty.
So by that logic then Trump voters who voted for him in hopes of getting tariff refund checks (a total joke), DOGE refund checks (another total joke), and then the $5,000 bribe if they won the midterms (the 3rd joke) are all handouts that would keep Trump supporters in poverty correct?

There is a difference between handouts and support. I would encourage you to stop viewing government support through such a negative lens, especially when the billionaire class you worship relies so heavily on government welfare

I think people who wanted the $5k bribe were losers, to use our president’s verbiage. I also think he’s a loser for trying to use that to bribe voters.

I don’t worship billionaires. If you want to tax them, go nuts. But leave people like me alone.

If you are on perpetual government assistance and don’t have a significant mental or physical disability, there’s something seriously wrong. Democrats opposition to work requirements highlights their evolving approach to handouts, from a hand up under Clinton to a permanent voting bloc dependent upon your support.

It’s the liberal version of VA disability payments

And do you recognize these people are from different Countries with different cultures or nah? Or is what you are really saying it was settled by white people and anyone with non-white skin don't count towards "settling". Only white people that arrived before 1790 count?
