I'm touchy because you continually/daily make this claim that they have "promised" something they can't deliver when you know that's a lie. They will "try" to move the needle on affordability but that's different from a promise but because you're a partisan, you ignore this fact. You're also pissed that they will investigate the most corrupt administration in history because you want Trump to get away with it. Sorry, Neddles, you reap what you sow. Stop your crying.
They why didn't they move the needle on affordability when they were in control?

They did. In Biden's last full month in office inflation was 2.9% and gas was just above $3.00 per/gal. Why did Trump move the needle upwards?

Bidenflation was 21% dickpic.

The cost of $100 worth of goods and services in 2020 was $121 in 2024.

They didn't. Unless of course, there was deflation. Was there deflation?

21% >>>>>> 7%

Accept the fact dickpic. Bidenflation is real, and it is making life hard for millions of Americans RIGHT NOW even though the dotard has been out of office for almost 2 years.
I'm going to make a wild guess that you weren't the star of your high school debate club.

We've been going back and forth for some time dpic. I often ask what you propose or what democrats would do. Your answere is always limited to some version of Trump sucks. That's hardly an answer.

Gas prices spike to $4.85/gal under Biden a year and a half after he took office. You are correct that prices fell to a little over $3.00 when Trump took over. It's also true that Trump had prices down to $2.66 until the war. I was opposed to the war for reasons I've explained but that's neither here nor there at this point. The question is what would democrats do to lower gas prices and the only answer I get is not do like Trump. That's not an answer. Here's what I do know. Democrats stopped pipeline development and closed refineries. They stopped issuing permits on government land. The also restricted offshore drilling. They also imposed new taxes on fossil fuel. If you disagree with all those things just say it. It's OK to disagree with your party but I'm calling B.S. if you claim democrat policies will lower the price of fossil fuels.

Inflation under Biden reached 9% and average 5% for his 4 years. Trump's first year was 2.7% WITH TARRIFS! Inflation has gone up to 3.7% because of the war (that I opposed) but your suggestion that inflation is much worse under Trump is disingenuous.

The big affordability issues have been healthcare, housing, and groceries. Dems haven't proposed anything that would lower those costs except have rich people pay for lower income people. That's not cutting cost, it's redistribution.

P.S. Year over year grocery inflation is 1.8% even with gas/diesel issues. There's a lot of dishonesty among politicians.

Do you know how to use an inflation calculator? Would you like me to show you?

Maybe then you will know, with certainty, that price today have Bidenflation's 21% baked into them and only 7% Trumpflation.

I'd give you two thumbs up if I could.

I'm guessing you will get an emotional response including a tweet from some random self import person who says she is voting D because prices are high. That will be his "proof." lol....

Holy sh.it dude, you asked me a simple question and I responded with an equally simple answer that should have been obvious to you.
They why didn't they move the needle on affordability when they were in control?
If the question is why didn't they when it's easy to show that they did, then your question is disingenuous. Did things get worse or better by the end of his term? And what makes you think we needed to enact any sweeping policies when things were falling back to baseline on their own? The economy was roaring when Biden left office, gas prices were reasonable and inflation was falling so Trump was handed a golden goose that he squandered and now Dems are supposed to fix something that wasn't broken when it was turned over?

Surely you jest.

Answer is 21% Bidenflation. Cost of a $100 worth of goods in services in 2020 cost $121 by the end of Biden's term. This is a material fact you can't... let me change my choice of words, WON'T accept.

This is why goods and services are hardly affordable today. Inflation may have been falling at the end of Biden's term, but that only means prior inflation was compounded less. I'm starting to think you might not know the concept of compounding?

The economy is ROARING now as evidenced by all the good news in this thread.

LOL..... Another emotional outburst.............. Is it driven by the fact you really don't understand the concept of compounding? I can break it down for you. Would that help?

As a counter, maybe you should stop cluttering the board with your emotional outbursts and instead debating the facts instead of dismissing them in favor of emotional rants?

US Factory Orders Rise More Than Expected

US Job Openings Hit Four-Month High

one more.... Job quits are a signal that workers are getting better jobs.

US Job Quits Rise to 1-1/2-Year High
Here's the thing knox. There's no doubt that affordability continues to be a problem and that a lot of people are concerned about the fallout from the Iran war. Trump was obviously wrong when he said weeks, not months. Everything isn't perfect under Trump. On the other hand I actually had a poster on this board tell me that I have to admit the economy has become worse and worse every month since Trump took office. WTF is wrong with some people? Total payroll employment is at an all time high and the unemployment rate is still near what economist consider full employment. Some manufacturing is slowly moving back to the USA. Isn't that a good thing?

This is an historically good economy but by no means nirvana. Dems argue that we should tax the rich more. I agree but some of the crazies want to sieze companies and tax wealthy people 70%. They also want the newly generated revenues to be redistributed, not to reduce the deficit. They argue that tariffs are a tax that get passed to consumers but they also want to increase taxes on companies insisting that those higher taxes won't be passed to consumers. Meanwhile they have no recommendations about how to lower healthcare or housing costs and somehow they think taxing and regulating fossil fuels will lead to lower cost. WHAT?

The mind is a terrible thing to waste but that's not stopping a lot of people.

LOL..... Even Google knows...............

AI Overview

Cumulative (compounded) inflation during President Joe Biden's four-year term (January 2021 to January 2025) was approximately 20% to 21.2%, depending on the exact index release and final month tracked by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: [1, 2, 3]
  • Yahoo Finance / BLS Tracking: Overall cumulative inflation reached 21.2% across the four years he was in office through late 2024 / January 2025. [1, 2]
  • Investopedia / General Estimates: Total cumulative price increases across the administration are widely cited at roughly 20% overall (with an average year-over-year rate of about 4.95% to 5% per year). [1, 2]
  • Key Peak: Inflation reached a 40-year high, peaking at 9.1% year-over-year in June 2022 before cooling down over the rest of his term. [1]

well, I'm only repeating what the candidates say in their ads...I'm not making stuff up...and just to be clear, republicans do it too..it's not a one sided occurence

Do we really need to go down the name calling "hole" ...kind of childish, IMO...and yes, that comment applies to all the posters who feel the need to relive their grade school years...

This week an announcement was made that an Elon Musk company was in testing stages of an artificial eye.

I wanted to mention that because I think you are probably among that group of using profanity and defamation in every sentence and every post regarding Trump, MAGA, America First , Republicans , etc

Really you get no credibility and respect if all you do is rant , rave , scream , run off at the mouth

When you have something intelligent to say please get back to me

Setting my glacier clock now
I wish he'd hurting up...I could use that eye...

I get that everything isn't roses under Trump, and I agree. Tariffs have been a personal pain in the *** for me, and the response from the petrochemical industry to the Iran mess has also been difficult as well (part of which has been refining capacity - dems least favorite thing.

That said, the craziness of the TDS cult is absolutely absurd. The economy is not bad as evidenced by all the decent news here. It is improving, but these cultists are so entrenched with visceral hatred for an elected official that it is beyond mind boggling. They will chop off their own cocks wanting to be right... lol..

You: Why didn't they try before?
Me: they did, here's proof - Inflation down, gas down, economy roaring.

You: what about these 50 other things I just thought of that you didn't mention?

Apparently it's unreasonable to require able bodies working age people without dependents to work part time. The thing I don't understand is how they're going to reduce the deficit by eliminating work requirements.

21% Bidenflation helped you clowns win. You should be happy about it.
Look here Professor Screech, you aren't teaching us anything we don't already understand better than you and we can see through your lame propaganda that ignores the complex reasons behind those numbers. We also know that wages had caught up and then an obese orange galoot came along and said he was going to make it even better, but he failed spectacularly along with making multiple other incredibly stupid decisions that harmed millions of people.

And for that, Americans sent him a resounding message that you should take some time to absorb because what you've been doing hasn't worked a lick and we're laughing at you for still trying to change the minds of other adults. Hopefully you're still certified to teach Special Needs classes because your lessons aren't working here.
