Hank and Heck against NW

Hank engineered game winning drives against both ISU and Michigan in the same season. Not alot of Iowa QBs can say that. Banks, Tate, CJB, and Stanley can't say it. Under Ferentz, only Stanzi and Hank have done it. Then he damn near engineered another against Minnesota. He **** the bed against OSU, but he isn't the first Iowa QB to do it and he won't be the last. Hell, even Chuck Long **** the bed against OSU.

Heck has two problems currently. One, he doesn't have the arm strength to make all the requisite throws in Tim's offense....and #2, he hasn't developed the ability to flush bad plays. The guy was playing pretty decent up to the point he threw the INT, then he was like 1-8 after that. You could tell by his body language and facial expression that he still hadn't flushed that INT on the goal line. Good QBs can do it, he hasn't figured that out yet.
Heck also doesnt seem to use the right trajectory for some or many passes

Heck played so well against wa and everyone was thrilled to the point he became starter against mn...only to totally sh^t the bed. Subsequently Hank started against wi and played very well indeed. But this train of events remains incomplete -- Hank has got to perform well in back to back games at the least for me to concede he is indeed the guy. Otherwise he wouldve merely accomplished what Heck already has. ie If hank screws up against NW he would've merely proven he and heck are neck and neck in unreliability and we might as well pull him in second half and try heck. Any flaw in this logic?
The key difference is that the Wisconsin defense is actually good. I think the Washington defense is better than they showed against Iowa, but in that game they were glorified traffic cones. Hank also had solid if unspectacular games against ISU and Michigan.

We've also seen Hank outplay Heck against NIU and UNI. Its debatable who was better against Minnesota, I'd go with Hank in that one because he actually hit the wide open TD pass over the middle when the opportunity came. Heck also should have had 3 picks that game. I guess you can give Heck Ohio St, but personally I do not care about 5 passes in garbage time whatsoever. We've seen Heck get significant playing time in 4 games, and he was bad in 3 of them.

The question isn't is Hank better, he is. The question is should Hank start next year? Or do we need to go to the portal? Hank will have to answer that question over the next 4 games.

I do remember Stanley had a 4 or 5 TD game in his first start I believe against ISU, and he threw the game winner in OT to ISM right inside the goal line. So I'd add him to that list.
Correct, Stanley threw the late short pass to Wadley who make just an amazing run and then the winner to ISM

I think CJB led Iowa back from a 2 score deficit against Pitt and Wisky and ISU in the 2015, and maybe a couple of other games but at least those 3. I cant quite remember all the scores. Maybe against Pitt the hawks were only down 7 pts in the 4th but still CJB still led two scoring drives for the win iirc

No, I was saying he engineered wins against those 2 teams, specifically. Banks lost to ISU but beat Michigan. Tate beat ISU, but not Michigan. CJB never played Michigan. Stanley beat ISU but not Michigan. Was using those teams as a point of reference to say, it's rare for an Iowa QB to beat both those teams in the same year.

Not the end of the story. At this point, Hank - yes. Way too soon to make final conclusions. Neither QB has played a full season, both have had good/bad games. Hank has clearly earned the start but you can’t close the book on Jeremy.
I'm guessing we'll never know given that Heck is most likely leaving....

not arguing your point but cjb not only played mi but beat them when they came in ranked #3

I kind of think it is. I really don't expect Heck to start another game at Iowa unless the starter gets injured. I think people who suggest otherwise are ignoring the fact that Kirk and Lester believe Hank's a better QB and that's all that matters going forward.
