Even Parkers minutes were way better. Ball was moving on that second unit.
Did a solid job in the areas I wanted to see. Only big negative was the play of Jones and I'm a bit concerned that Copeland smashed his busted fingers again. Other than that, a solid opening game.Things I want to see tonight
- Press St Peter's from the jump
- Push the pace every chance we can
- Cut out the careless TOs
- Feed the post with good, fundamental entry passes
- Attack the basket and get to the line
- Quick ball movement and an active offense - no standing around or dribbling east-west 35-40 feet from basket
You think Brown is struggling defensively? Wasn't part of second unit, never really got into the game flow, and saw Sha having conversations with him again. I expected he could have been a possible starter.Did a solid job in the areas I wanted to see. Also check the minutes played….who cares about the rebounding leader when no one played more than 20 minutes and 12 guys played at least 10. You love to be negative, but a 24 point win on opening night seems alright to me.Leading rebounder off the bench with 5.FT shooting up to SH standards , which is poor.
But the W gets SH 1 step closer to ….
Yes. I thought the O stalled when Parker took the reins in 2nd half.We had a few very long scoring droughts in the second half. Our offense doesn't flow too well. I hope the coach focuses on the offense in the weeks to come.
Pretty much what you got. Statistically a very good effort (shooting percentage, rebound advantage, assists, turnovers not terrible considering substitutions).Things I want to see tonight

Probably. He had really poor defensive metrics last year and he can really shoot but Sha probably not trusting him defensively. Hope he picks it up, we'll need his shooting for sure. You think Brown is struggling defensively? Anderson was filling it up today.
Anderson started 5 games on a bad Xavier team last year; otherwise he was a bench contributor who averaged almost 11 per on a team that could score.Yes. I thought the O stalled when Parker took the reins in 2nd half.
Sha rested two key offensive guys SW and EF for most of the 2nd half.
I have no issue with Anderson, who is a starter, taking the most shots if he is making them. Like the look of his game. I dont see this team as becoming 1 or 2 player dependent.
I want to see more Jones to see what Sha has been seeing. I assume he is better than he has showed so far. So far I prefer MP by a bunch.
Great game by Payday, and just like vs MU, he made a mistake and hustled downcourt to make a terrific hustle defensive play. Payday will get time.
Fisher looks very good on both sides. Would love to see him, Cope and Devin as the front court sometimes. I see no reason why he cant play some 3.
12 guys played 10 minutes or more. Kinda crazy, all 15 had a rebound.
We lead the BE in Jrs (in name, not class), with 3.
Not good enough but a lot better than many early OOC games. Encouraged.
Wasn’t the offense ahead of the defense when practice started??SHU scored the least points than any BE team last night— 66.
SHU gave up the least points of any BE team last night— 42.
Some things never change.
In a few yrs we will realize that Sha's words are for an effect not limited to telling us what is happening lol.Wasn’t the offense ahead of the defense when practice started??
Peteovic deserves more minutes after tonight !Halftime thoughts
1. Does Del Jones suck? Respectfully
2. Where was Rodney Brown
3. Thank God for Elijah Fisher
4. Copeland, Williams, Peteovic, provided strong mins
5. Idk if our defense is great or St Peters is just bad
Never pay much attention to any coaches preseason comments especially when we have little visibility….like Veer Singh possibly starting over Desi…lolIn a few yrs we will realize that Sha's words are for an effect not limited to telling us what is happening lol.
I am gonna disagree till I see a reason to agree. This will be a repeat of previous years. Nobody should be overly excited. We will struggle on offense. Youll see 1 on 1 play. This year we dont have a point guard and season already started. When copeland gets in foul trouble theres nobody to fill in. This is not an ncaa tournament team. Not even close. Expecting bottom half finish in conference.

Curious how many of our active posters on here know Big Z or recall his playing days.Zendon Hamilton said they’ll win 2 or 3 games in the NCAA!
Payday really brought strong energy, hustling, hitting the floor and being a pest defensively. He had that beautiful chase-down block from behind which he also did vs Monmouth. Plus, he hit his shots including a corner 3. Strong debut for the kid.Let me be the first to say seeing Payday Moore play for the first time I was impressed by his hustle and I thought overall for a freshman his debut was great! Showed lots a promise!
He also gushed about Copeland, constantly calling him a Beast. And his other favorite phrase was, "there's money in the corners".Zendon Hamilton said they’ll win 2 or 3 games in the NCAA!
Delusional. Not hard to seeI think you are being way too negative this early in the season and from what I saw last night there is much to be excited about!
Yeah, PJ hoped to package him with Felipe, oops, no diceCurious how many of our active posters on here know Big Z or recall his playing days.
I don't think Anderson got the most shots by design, I just think he's the most aggressive, knows how to play offense and has traits and skills instilled in him to be decisive and catch-and-go.Anderson started 5 games on a bad Xavier team last year; otherwise he was a bench contributor who averaged almost 11 per on a team that could score.
No problem with him being involved in the offense moreso than others. I just don’t think he’s the guy who should be leading us in shots and points in any game. Not with all the offense-first guys Sha brought in the door. It can work against these low major cupcakes, but not sure that will translate to real opponents, game in, game out.
You are not the first. Yes, loved his fame last night on both ends. Loved his hustle for that block, and he did the same thing vs Monmouth, made a bad play on O, busted his tail back to get a stop.Let me be the first to say seeing Payday Moore play for the first time I was impressed by his hustle and I thought overall for a freshman his debut was great! Showed lots a promise!

Liked the quick hitter to him. One pass up the court quick 3 and the foul.I don't think Anderson got the most shots by design, I just think he's the most aggressive, knows how to play offense and has traits and skills instilled in him to be decisive and catch-and-go.
Xavier was a strong offensive team last year that played at a fast pace and he was second on that team in Shot% (12th in the BE). He's a high usage, high energy player, the challenge is for him to be efficient - something he has not been throughout his career.
He's the only player on our roster that averaged double-figures in a Power Conference so I think he'll be a top 3 scorer for us, along with Wilcher and Copeland. Our issue is I don't think there is a 14-15 point per game player on this roster, at least not in Sha's offense.
Yes though we always had a better chance with Felipe, at least that's my recall reading the tea leaves back then.Yeah, PJ hoped to package him with Felipe, oops, no dice
