Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about some potential changes coming to the message boards.

There's been some talk from the higher ups about eliminating forums across the network that aren't generating enough posts or views to clear up space.

With that being said, the Women's Basketball forum has relatively low traffic compared to the other boards, so there's been some discussion about potentially merging it with the Men's Basketball forum to create one Rutgers Basketball board. Nothing is set in stone just yet, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up in case the change happens sooner rather than later.

The goal isn't to take anything away from women's basketball coverage or discussion, but rather I think it would offer a chance to get more eyeballs on the women's program. Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop!

Hopefully no move will be made to merge WBB with the MBB board intill the 2026-27 season is completed in order to see if Redus can make the RU WWB program something to talk about and increase the traffic on this board so it will be lecf alone

As for merging with the MBB bosad, that will only cause trouble with those who have little use for the WBB program hijacking threads meant to talk about the team into arguing about the quality if women's basketball because of the insults being posted about women's basketball as an enjoyable sport to watch .

Best to move it, if a move is to be made , to be added to Olympic sports board and rename it other sports

I believe putting merging this board with the MBB one will just cause trouble between those who enjoy the WBB program and kije to post her about it and those who have no use for the program and will be putting it down every chance they get in order to keep posts about the WBB team off the MBB board by making post about the RU WBB program's ups and downs, into arguing about the quality of play of college women's basketball and the WNBA to the mens game.

Quote from the men's basketball board: "There’s no traffic because there is no interest."

Agree with MADHAT1 - moving to the men's basketball board will just result in insults, belittling and negative posts. VERY bad idea. Olympic sports board would be much more appropriate where people are more reasonable and there is interest in women's sports.

Might as well move the wrestling forum to the Olympic sports as well.

Title IX will cause the move to combine with MBB over Olympics sports.

Who knows maybe WBB makes a big leap and has a great season (imagine a Sweet 16) and B1G semifinal.

"Clear up space" for what?

I'm not sure what you're saying about Title IX, but it is doubtful that a privately run message board, which is not an educational program or activity of federally funded Rutgers, would be covered.

Leave wrestling out of this. We're happy in our little niche and we get plenty of traffic. Plus, we're the third most attended sport at Rutgers. It's not our fault that only like 4 people post on this board.

Seems like a better option would be to move the low volume Wrestling Board to the Olympic Sports Board.
WTF are you talking about? There's plenty of banter and posters on that board. TKR doesn't even dedicate a moderator to write articles on it every day like this one does for WBB and they still have 1000 times the traffic. Your clueless.

Relax, take a pill for that.

Any traffic decline for WBB for the last several years has been because of the horrible team. It will be back to normal soon when posters come back with the very good team.

Unless someone gets hit with a steel chair, most folks are meh about wrestling.

Ironically the wrestling forum has half the threads, but 20k more posts than the WBB board. It's a lot more popular.
Even more than that as many of the older wrestling threads (2014-2020) never migrated from the Olympic board. If you need to add more to the wrestling board so it stays up solo as is, please move all those old threads over.
