Statistics support that too. I think when I checked earlier today NW was giving up 150 rushing a game at over 4 a carry. Their scoring D has been great. Granted they haven’t had a particularly tough schedule.
Have we?
NW and their QB scare the hell out of me next week. And Kelly is every bit an offensive guru as is Phil Parker a defensive guru. It will be nice to see their new stadium first hand.

Don’t know which Iowa team is going to show up. This week‘s team could beat just about anybody. Last week‘s team….not so much. I would love to see more and more of the Iowa team that played at Washington and against Wisky.
Well we do know what Iowa team is going to show up. We’re a pretty consistent team over the years. Especially defensively. It’s more of what Lester will do and how he calls the game. We’re not shutting them out so we will need to be aggressive like we were today.

No not really, but our wins over Wisconsin, Michigan and Washington might all be better than Rutgers, Penn State and MSU.

But I agree, Chiles is concerning. Watched him evade the defense and extend plays and drives quite a lot last night. And I remember against MSU a couple years ago.

With Kelly as his mentor, Chiles is easily the most dangerous QB in the Big 10….and one the 2-3 best in the nation. His (Chiles) biggest problem is at NW he does not receive the attention he deserves. My opinion.

Iowa seems to have an every other week offensive gameplan involving motion presnap, unfortunately this coming week is back to line up and hope to be better than the other squad. So I personally don't have high hopes that the offense provides too much.

Is NU going to have more of a home field advantage now in a smaller stadium and I assume less tickets for Iowa fans who used to pack the place out?

Yep, mobile qbs are always a concern. Biggest test left but I like Iowa's chances.

the feeling I get reading this thread and the NW defense statistics is that this will be a basketball-type score, kind of like ISU and Oklahoma State yesterday. the team that possessest he ball last may end up winning. justmy perception of it.

For $1,200 I should've gotten a hot breakfast and a happy ending massage.
Why did you have to stay there and not somewhere else? Genuinely curious. Aside from location for Saturday morning, there is no reason to stay there. Unless you are visiting someone at the hospital.

wi played a soft zone defense probably to cover up a weak spot somewhere and ia offense particularly passing game thrived. a more aggressive secondary would have given us a lot more trouble. nw will probably have their dbs draped all over our receivers. so officiating will have a lot to do with how effective iowa offense can be and will probably also determine the outcome

We wanted to stay in town. All of the hotels in town charge a ridiculous sum of money and require a 2 night stay on football weekends.

Not much of one. Even on their big opening night against Penn St there were empty seats. Hawk fans will buy them, albeit at a much higher price than before.

NW gave up about 500yds yesterday. But they've been averaging about that as well. I'm pretty confident they aren't getting close to that next week. We'll see what our offense can do....

Many hotels around these game sites require a two day stay especially on weekends. When the Chiefs were in town a couple of weeks ago a room in Overland park was about $1000 for a two night stay and there are a lot more hotels in the area than Iowa City

Yeah I get it but I think downtown is cheaper, isn't it? The Graduate and so on? Maybe I'm wrong of course but I think when I looked at hotels there a while back I saw some for maybe $400 or $450 per night. This was last year.

I remember seeing the Hyatt when it opened and thinking it was far and away the most expensive hotel in the area. Suite goes for $1k or something close to that per night? That's borderline perverse. Lol.

Anyway it might be worth it once per season.

Yeah believe me, I'm painfully aware of how these things work. Went to the Yankees Red Sox playoff game this year and stayed in Manhattan. The good thing is that there is no two night minimum. The bad thing is that a suite went for north of $1k per night.

The Hyatt Place is downtown. I believe every decent hotel downtown is doing the same thing with the 2 night requirement. I just checked the Graduate for the Purdue game. Min 2 nights at $530 ($1060) or $1,200 with taxes.

I think Coralville has cheaper options, but they fill up fast. Downtown is super expensive. I stayed at the Union hotel a couple years back and it was an absolute dump which has since closed.... thankfully. 😎

NW just blew a 20-6 lead to an Oregon team that has had all kinds of trouble on offense. That may have a lingering effect, especially if Iowa comes out aggressively with its offense and puts touchdowns on the board early. But if there ever was a box of chocolates college football season, this certainly has been one.

The cheapest option I saw is Holiday Inn Express in Coralville at $330/night with 2 night minimum.

I wanted to buy a house in LA. But I didn't, because I didn't NEED to spend a mil or two for housing, especially since I don't live in LA. Nobody, I presume, put a gun to your head. Maybe you should want to stay in Cedar Rapids next time, or at least don't complain about how you choose to spend your money.

$1,000 for a night in any hotel anywhere for any reason--other than life or death--is a choice most sane people would never make. IMHO, of course.

Listen dummy. Go back and read the thread for some context to see how all this started before getting involved. Oh, and BTW, I don't care if it costs me $1,200 to stay in I.C. if it keeps me out of some shathole or Cedar Rapids.

Aaah my apologies. I kept thinking you were referring to the hotel right by the stadium. That's the one I thought was crazy expensive for being in Iowa City.

Yep that's what I thought too. Hotels at the landing I thought were more reasonable but of course it's not downtown ic.

I mean it's all relative right? During that series everything was booked too. Prices were crazy unless you wanted to stay in Jersey or outside of the city which would make getting to the stadium more tedious.

So right there at 450/night that's 900 for two nights before taxes and "fees". Like I said in KC a couple of weeks back there was a Chiefs game and a convention and some rooms were 900 for two nights plus taxes and fees. Those can add up to another $60-$70 a night depending about local taxes, and convention "fees". Those are basically a license to steal more money.

What in the H E double toothpicks is the deal with you, making a command like that. Did he ask for your opinion on how he or YOU would spend your money?
