If we are 7-3 vs UGA and win we are in CFP

Go ahead call it insane. If we are 7-3 vs UGA, with all the chaos in the SEC/B10, we will probably be ranked around 15-20, and UGA is probably #1/2. Beating them would propel us into 12th spot or better. Clemson is probably 8-3 vs us, so may help.

Unimaginable 4 weeks ago. But there is a path

We'd still have 1 more very slippery slope to scale.

If South Carolina wins out I think the committee should strongly consider South Carolina's six win and three loss conference record and winning three conference games away from home and only losing one away game. That information should point to that South Carolina is very capable team that deserves a chance for a run at the national title.

I’m not even thinking about the playoffs right now. It’s good that it’s still on the table, but put your garnet glasses down for a second. IF Carolina finishes 9-3, your likely competing with three loss squads like Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, LSU, Ole Miss, etc. As well as numerous 10-2 teams with easier schedules. I’m more excited about the prospect of being 7-3 and getting Georgia at home, which would arguably be the biggest game in years, a prime time matchup, and an electric environment.

Pretty much came here to say everything after your first sentence. I think there will be a bunch of 10-2 teams this year and they're gonna be overlooked in name against some other 9-3 teams. That UGA win would be one of the best in the country for anyone in a playoff discussion and I think the TN win ages well. But as football goes, especially Gamecock football goes, the odds of finishing 9-3 aren't likely. I still think UGA is just better but even if SC wins that it probably means they took an upset to Arkansas. Finishing 8-4 would be nothing to be upset about either.

If we are at 12, then we don't get in. ND is guaranteed a spot if they are in the top 12, and a G6 is guaranteed a spot as well.
There are 12 playoff teams, but that does not necessarily mean a ranking @ 12 gets you in.

I'm confused (but what's new?).

Are we talking about the same team everyone thought wouldn't win another game this season and wanted to roast their coach on a pike a few weeks ago?

Nah, of course we aren't. That would be silly. 🤡

Carry on! 😄

Yes and when we lost matters, the momentum will carry us up. With Ohio St and Oregon collapsing, theres an opening for a couole 3 loss teams.

We need UGA to be #1. Beating them the second from last week would be

IMAGINE if we reached 11, ND 12, and a G6 at 20 is automatically in, so the last spot is us at 11 of ND at 12 and ND is guaranteed that spot by contract

I hate ND so much always have

I call it BS, myself.

I know some on here hate the CFP going to 24. I was against that, saying stop at 16. But, when they go to 24, we could make the playoffs under such a scenario. To quote Jack Nicholson, playing the President, in the comedic movie "Mars Attack", when he announced that the Martians destroyed Congress, leaving only 2 of the 3 branches of government functioning...... "And that ain't bad".

The committee picked Alabama over Florida State due to the quarterback being injured and they believe Florida State was a different team without him. I think the same rule should apply to Ohio State and Oregon that they should not be considered for the college football playoffs UNLESS they win the Big Ten Championship game. What I worry about is Wake Forest taking a spot. I believe they will win out and play Miami again and lose but still will be selected for the playoffs.

Having two ACC teams, Norte Dame and affirmative action Group six team with at least one team from Big 12 and Big Ten leaves six spots left. Right now, I believe that Georgia and Tennessee will be selected and South Carolina at a maximum is fighting for one of the four spots left.

Unlikely. Unless you win one of those minor conferences, you need to be top 10 to get in.

I'm still here. Miss management of the team in two of the three losses and we aren't even having this discussion of "if this or that". They would be sitting pretty with only one loss.

I wonder if the players are imagining a showdown with Georgia and a CFP bid, too. How does Beamer encourage the players to believe in themselves while also managing expectations and keeping the them grounded?

We couldn't even get into a major bowl game under Spurrier with a 10-2 record over a three-year period. How are we getting into the playoffs with 3 losses?

Obviously substandard management of the team in the preseason camp.

I believe the "current team makeup" factor will apply to the teams you mentioned because they have enough games left to show they belong.

Exactly. Folks already counting that game as a win are crazy. Actually I expect TX am to give us all we want. They were up on Bama 20-17 in 4th qtr. they had 3 turnovers in that game and it was still close
Same here. Football in general and college football in particular are decided on matchups, not stats. I’m a bit uneasy on that aspect with A&M.

Just curious, since you’re the same age as I am. How many fall two a days/preseason camps did you experience?
None, but what of it? I've never been a chef, either, nor an actor, nor built an automobile. A long-time consumer can appraise the quality of what he receives, and if what he receives is manifestly substandard, he knows that what went into its production was likewise substandard.

Yeah thats what I was expecting, both response and reasoning. So, I assume you have no experience in ballroom dancing either; do you also critique ballroom dancing?

I do not play golf, but I know good play when I see it and I know bad play when I see it. I never played organized basketball either, but I know when a team is good or not. I played football, but was average at best and I still know good and bad play when I see it.

I have no ballroom dancing experience and, honestly, unless they are stepping on each other's feet and/or falling down, I really don't know what is good or not. That said, I have no interest in ballroom dancing, so I don't comment on it one way or another. I feel the same way about soccer. I never played soccer, don't like watching it and don't care what happens with it, so I don't ever critique the play.

I don’t see you ATTRUBUTING what you perceive as poor play to agents you admittedly never experienced, of which you have no first hand knowledge. Am I correct?

You have no first hand knowledge of having a brain so there's that. Didn't know the slide rule after ten years. You're a special kind of stupid.

Players didn’t slide when I played. The only times I’ve noticed before, the spot was where the players knee contacted the turf. Other than that, I don’t waste much energy on children looking to have a pissing contest, so have a good one.

What in the Blue F**k does this have to do with us getting in the playoffs. ????
Nothing. Just a response to the usual passive-aggressive silly jabs at Beamer. If others can throw the shade I can defend him; isn’t that how this board thingy works?

I personally am not sweating whether or not we make the playoffs; I’m enjoying the season as usual, I love South Carolina football, don’t really care about anyone else. But if we DO somehow make the playoffs, it will be tons of entertainment engaging the pompous sniggling fools that have been chortling how Beamer ‘guaranteed’ making the playoffs this year.
