We have stood toe to toe with every team we played except bama. We have been in position to win every game except Bama. What other coach could get us beyond that?4 games left....... we're going to win at least 1 of them. Not sure which one but we'll win at least one more.
That's 6 wins and bowl eligible. That's good enough (to save his job) - Right, wrong, or otherwise - it is what it is.
Stuck is right.Yeah, we're stuck with him. If we can keep our coordinators and keep recruiting well, the next few years might be interesting.
Hey, I'm with you. You're preaching to the choir. We have stood toe to toe with every team we played except bama. We have been in position to win every game except Bama. What other coach could get us beyond that?
100% agree. No one is coming to steal Beamer.....period......and even if they did, I doubt very seriously if he would leave. I really believe that. So yeah, no raises and no extensions. I think on paper he's good through 2030 anyway.... (right??)Yes. I just hope he does not get a raise or extension out of this. We do, however, need to pay Briles extremely handsomely.
He can open up the door for us to recruit elite quarterbacks.
Facts.Hey, I'm with you. You're preaching to the choir.
I want him to succeed here. Because I understand that is the MUCH BETTER alternative than firing him, and starting all over again with a coach that doesn't care at all about USC. -- That's just flat out logical. I was just thinking to myself earlier that that's 3 wins in a row over Florida, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. ...... just saying those words back in the 1990's would have been unthinkable.
Right. He better slide Briles some side moneySafe to say Briles has saved Shanes job. Look at those offensive numbers being put up.
When Sellers leaves so does Briles as OC, barring some contract provision that prevents it.100% agree. No one is coming to steal Beamer.....period......and even if they did, I doubt very seriously if he would leave. I really believe that. So yeah, no raises and no extensions. I think on paper he's good through 2030 anyway.... (right??)
Briles..... eh..... I understand 100% the sentiment but good OC's leave for head coaching jobs all the time. It's just the way of the world. I doubt very seriously if we figure out some magic formula to keep him locked down here at SC, and even if we did, would he be happy being locked down?? In theory, I agree with you though. But I don't think throwing money at him is the end all be all answer. If we wants to leave, he'll bolt. Sucks but...
Beamer was essentially pre-compensated for this season after 2024, so yeah no extension necessary and raises are already built in to his contract, that yes is through 2030.100% agree. This is the 2nd time Beamer has done this. In the '24 season, we were 1-3 in the SEC at the mid point and went on to win 6 games in a row. When that happens this is where we’ll see how Beamer has grown. He’s figured out and/or listened to those who figured out how to lead this team in 2026, it looked like the wheels were coming off, but now an 8-4 is a very attainable goal. So we’ll see how that next big hire goes.
If SC locked down Briles with a long-term deal, Gamecock fans would turn on Briles and the AD as soon as Briles called a bad game.100% agree. Yes aware of that, but the common feature is how LaNorris played and is playing during both of these times. We do not know what has moved him to this level of play either time. Maybe it involved Beamer, it should as he's the head coach but we don't know. His teams also had an obviously bad streak of P4 games. If he is credited with the wins he's is also responsible for the losses. This is the 2nd time Beamer has done this. In the '24 season, we were 1-3 in the SEC at the mid point and went on to win 6 games in a row.
There are some coaches that implode when the season starts tanking. Beamer is not one of them.
The public image of Beamer does not align with his ability to turn things around. There's more there than meets the eye.
Lol. I hope we get a chance to prove that.If SC locked down Briles with a long-term deal, Gamecock fans would turn on Briles and the AD as soon as Briles called a bad game.
I'd like a rematch against Kentucky and Mississippi State. The team that showed up the last three games could easily be 7-1.Yes aware of that, but the common feature is how LaNorris played and is playing during both of these times. What do you think is the public image of Beamer?

The defensive surge was the story yesterday. Suffocated them and gave the offense all kinds of opportunities.Safe to say Briles has saved Shanes job. Look at those offensive numbers being put up.
Georgia is least likely.4 games left....... we're going to win at least 1 of them. Not sure which one but we'll win at least one more.

Sound reasoning. If Beamer doesn't like the terms of his contract and leaves, elevate Briles.Yes. I just hope he does not get a raise or extension out of this. We do, however, need to pay Briles extremely handsomely.

That's a perception of him for sure, and not the perception; but it isn't exactly unearned.
I'm not mollified. He's shown signs of life before only to resume the doldrums. Staying power required. We have people in the Athletic Department who are paid to search for candidates that can elevate this program. they aren’t going to go through the trouble when we have a fanbase that settles for mediocre saying ‘this is the best we could ever do deal with it’ attitude. I think that way of thinking it’s dying out….. it’s going to have to if we want to add some meaningful accomplishments…. An SEC Championship for example. We have the player talent to do it now.
I was all about firing Beamer…. until Cocktober.now they we are on a winning streak my mind has changed.
Only when we're losing. When we're winning, no one pays attention. That's a perception of him for sure, and not the perception; but it isn't exactly unearned.

Exactly how did Beamer "implode"? Your semantics....In the last 4 years, this is the second time he's done this. He also "imploded" twice. Unless we're going to argue semantics about "imploded" vs losing seasons.
I'm 99% sure you're joshing..... but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if we did beat UGA.Georgia is most likely.

I misread the post of the person to whom I was replying. Thanks for calling my attention to it.I'm 99% sure you're joshing..... but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if we did beat UGA.
I'm sure you've seen me say this elsewhere but this is how I describe Gamecock Football to people: We beat people we have no business beating and lose to people we have no business losing to. It's maddening.
I certainly hope not. Because although I think it makes financial sense to come back, I think sellers is gone after this year. Jmo
