I won't be surprised if Brooks' road back isn't as automatic than most think. Hidlay ain't the same guy he was 2 years ago.
Agreed.

my wife asked and I don’t know the answer: I think Brooks can’t work out with any USA wrestler. What does he do if he wants to stay active? Does he work out overseas?

This West coast boy is going to bed!

I just finished watching all the semis and medal matches and I am sure my deciding to get a good night's rest was the deciding factor in that dominant U.S.A. and Mexico performance! It is such a pleasure to be able to watch the U.S. wrestlers nowadays.

P.S., NLWC rocks : )

Y'know who is awesome? Cody ... His calmness likely keeps the wrestlers calm. He rarely tells them how to wrestle - they know by now! But I heard him tell Levi he was up by criteria and advise him how much time was left. Levi can focus on his opponent rather than having to sneak peeks at the clock and scoreboard.
Maybe if he had been in Mitchell's corner his freshman year Mitchell would still be chasing Cael's record? : (

Brooks has been practicing in the NLWC/PSU room this entire time.

Whether that’s truly a rule or being circumvented, I honestly don’t know. But he’s going to be ready, and he’s going to be at 97 kg

lol. That’s NOT what happened.

We used to have 8 weights. Lost them due to:

1. They wanted us to be “equal” with women’s FS. So we lost 1 weight in 2008 and went to 6-6-6 in 2012

2. IOC HATED FILA. Viewed them as corrupt and arrogant. And the product was fvking BUNS. Think about how shtty of an organization you have to be for the IOC to view you as corrupt

I want the best for him, but it is more common as I get older that I have no idea what’s going on.

My AI assistant tells me
“Under Article 10.14.1 of the World Anti-Doping Code, a suspended athlete cannot participate in activities organized by a national federation, its member clubs, or other covered organizations.” And this includes the NLWC.

I don’t mean to belabor it, but I’m confused. My backspace button does still work on the site, though. Haha.

Is it possible he can train with PSU as an alum, just not NLWC? Can they make that type of difference in practices?

He cheated in sport and, I believe, lied about it. Yes - it’s going to be difficult to cheer for him.
It a fair opinion I suppose. FWIW, the arbiter who presumably has access to much more evidence and testimony than us didn’t think he lied, thought he was just really naive/stupid. I’m personally ready to give Aaron a reset.

He will continue to be o e of my favorites, I think he made an innocent mistake.

Brooks was one of my favorite recent PSU wrestlers, and I am willing to give someone a second chance/pass for what was supposedly misfiled paperwork. However, the second time was either extreme hubris or stupidity. If you’ve been nailed for PEDs once, one would think that you would be super vigilant in the future. Athletes at his level have an enormous amount of resources available to them to make correct decisions. This wasn’t a matter of an undisclosed ingredient on a supplement. Here is the photo of what he bought and took from Wegman’s. It doesn’t get much clearer than this.

Yeah - I had started a post saying “DHEA” was literally written in large letters on the bottle he purchased coming out of the hospital and low on DHEA, but I decided there was no point. People will believe what they want to believe and are entitled to do so. I was once a huge cycling fan who believed and defended Armstrong, Landis, and Hamilton.

So, did you just stop being a cycling fan altogether? Would be hard to root for anyone in the sport when pretty much every elite cyclist in the last five decades has been popped at least once.

He's unbelievable
I always marveled at how Dake won college championships at 4 different weights but to win World Gold at 3 different weights is truly incredible.

I know he desperately wants that Olympic Gold in 2028. I still have my doubts but if anyone can do it at 37 it will be him.
