Frankly, I think Lanphier, Southeast, and Eisenhower should join the Sangamo Conference. The existence of Maroa- Forsyth eliminates the distance issue which would be presented. All of these schools would be travelling to Quincy, Jacksonville, or Decatur. Pittsfield is closer than Quincy. auburn is just one town past Chatham. This may give the perennial bottom dwellers an actual opportunity to win from time to time. And it will make MF, Williamsville, and the every other year of Auburn or Athens making a run that much stronger when it comes to scheduling. Byron (3A) plays Dixon (4A). PND (4A) plays Normal Community (7A). So class sizes should not be an issue. And let's be blunt, I can count on one finger the number of winning seasons collectively amongst Lanphier, Southeast, and Eisenhower over the past 10 seasons. These 3 schools are a collective 105-403 over the past 20 seasons, an average of 1.75-6.71 record (COVID skews the season records.) And a grand total of 2 victories in 4 playoff appearances. It is is embarrassing how bad these programs have been over the past 2 decades
The Decatur schools will consolidate soon... So the Sangamo is out of the question. Hell have Williamsville and Maroa from the Sangamo while getting Mt Zion and Mahomet from the Apollo, and adding Pekin joining the CS8.

East or North
Mt Zion
Mahomet
Maroa
Rochester
UHigh
Pekin

West or South
QND
Jacksonville
Springfield
SHG
Chatham
Williamsville

This will leave 4 open dates to schedule Non-Con's with the flexibility of adding from each division if scheduling is an issue.... Conference schedules would be from Week 3-7 leaving the first and last two weeks open for non-conference games... Very doable if all teams agreed to join up!~

I'll be at Mt. Zion v. Mac tonight...

Won't make a game tomorrow. Kids have Halloween plans I need to be a part of. Dad life takes precedence, I'm sure you all understand that!

Big hopes here... Mac and Jax win... then they do us all a SOLID favor and schedule Mac/Centralia, Jax/Rochester, and SHG/Metamora in a manner that we can all go see all 3 games! Big ask, I know... but fingers crossed!

As always, safe travels to teams and fans alike tonight and tomorrow.
Well be safe out there and enjoy the family time... Children seem to grow up fast!~

Just curious why you'd vote out Mac?
11 playoff appearances in 5A since Spates arrived in 2008. Same number as Springfield High... The other schools you listed have a combined 4 in that time frame... since 2008. No other team, or coach, has beaten each of the big 3 in that time frame. (SHG, Rochester, Glenwood) Spates and his Generals have beaten each at least once since 2008.

Like I said above... i believe Mac has earned a place in the league. And most importantly, nothing remotely near "dead weight football speaking."
With Mac and Ike consolidating it will be a large school and some estimate that it could be over 2000 in short time... Not sure where they will get the extra students but... I suggest who I would bring in and how the two divis with 4 open dates... Conference games would be weeks 3-7...

Why vote out any schools for performance in sports? This isn't the English Premiere League with relegation

Because Ike, SE, Lanphier and Lincoln are dead weight in the CS8! The decatur Pubs will consolidate and head back to the Big 12... Lincoln can go back to the Apollo... There's nothing wrong with stacking the CS8 with good teams... It will help each team immensely!~

Are they dead weight in basketball, volleyball, baseball, tennis, etc.?

Whole lot more "if," conspiracy, and imagination than normal at play here Bama... i dont mind the discussion, but I'd prefer a league with a combined Decatur school. Ike isn't playing, so we can easily presume they'll be as good or better than now... the only schools you bring in that may on occasion compete for titles are MTZ and Mahomet... removing Mac at this point takes the league down a notch... most especially if you remove Lincoln, SE, Lanphier...

How would removing DMac hurt the CS8? Its time to prepare for the CS8 future and the next 20-30 years... If its basketball then keep them for basketball only! But we are here about football only!~ Focus on that!~

This isn’t the NCAA - football obviosuly
Most popular but you have ADs across the conference that have numerous sports to think about and deal with scheduling. Nobody is going to rock the boat because a school isn’t competitive in one.

Keeping bad schools in a conference isnt smart... Waiting to realize this will be painful unless you dont want competition every week for 9 weeks?

Or ADs have upwards of 15 other sports to worry about. What would Kincaid have done in all other sports if their dismal football team got them kicked out of the conference?

All.... Metamora beats Breese late 21-20. At SHG next week. Redbirds come to town.... Ratsy
Really evenly matched teams. Breese had ample opportunity to put Metamora behind the 8-ball in the first half. I believe 5 drives inside the 30. Two were big pass plays down to the 5 and the 13 in which they settled for FGs, went 4-and-out off of a Metamora muffed punt and a turnover-on-downs both inside Metamora's 40. Finally converted in the final minute of the half after a long drive following a strip sack that ended a long Metamora drive. 13-7 Breese at half.

Metamora started moving the ball better in the 2nd half once they started taking the short throws we were giving them. They were their own worst enemy for much of the game with a lot of illegal motion/false start calls and a few holds. Finally converted a long 96-yard drive with a little over 9 minutes to go in the the 4th...13 all after XP blocked.

Breese proceeds with an 8 minute drive of their own converting three 4th downs and going up 20-13 with 1:46 left. Did well with time management at times and then had a few plays where we snapped with 10-15 seconds left on play clock and it cost us. Ensuing kick off Metamora burns off about 10 seconds and only gets out to the 20, but a personal foul bring them out to the 35+. Prevent defense and Metamora scores in about 5 plays and 50 seconds of game time. Go for 2 and Metamora scores on a broken play, as QB lofts one to the flat as he's being brought down. TE catches behind the line so it negates an illegal man downfield.

Breese had great return down to Metamora 37 with 40+ seconds left and over threw 2 guys for 1st downs and then overthrew the 3rd for a game ending interception. Guess thats the way she goes sometimes

Metamora's best offensive play was a jet sweep to the short side of the field. Resulted in a 49 yard TD run, a 27 yard TD run and about a 20+ yard run to get them off their goal line on their 96 yard drive. Probably the one difference in the game was they were just more athletic than our guys, especially at the skill positions. I don't expect that to be an issue for SHG.

Poor AD... Do they force people to work the AD position??? Its not rocket science... Thats the AD's job... ADs have all day to ensure the schedules are set, officiating is set, all forms signed by the athletes family, insurance... Not rocket science.

Normal West 36 Chatham 19, early 4th Q.
Cahokia 18 Jacksonville 14, late 3rd Q.
Cahokia wins 24-21, but did about everything the could to give it away to Jacksonville. Defense came up with a huge 3-and-out with about 3 to go and their big back, Henderson, iced the game with a couple powerful first down runs.

Expected them to take a step forward this year with how many mulit-year stud athletes they had returning, but they continue to shoot themselves in the foot so much in close games.

2027 Outlook (CS8 schools with their season over)
Eisenhower (DNP in 2026)-Best case scenario would be fielding a varsity team next year. With a possible DPS board vote early in 2027 that could reduce the district to a single public high school within a few years, restarting the program will be challenging.

Lanphier (0-9)-Only two of their losses were by fewer than 20 points, -321 point differential. Their best player, QB Camarie Richmond, will be graduating. Best case could be avoiding going the route Eisenhower took this year.

Southeast (2-7)-One of their wins was a forfeit, the other an OT victory over Lanphier. -270 point differential. The Spartans will lose 2-year starting QB Tony Boyd to graduation, and he provided most of their firepower this season.

U High (1-8)-The Pioneers were plagued by injuries all season and were forced to use 4 different QBs at times. They all will return. The most successful was Isiah Jones, who threw for 767 yards and 5 TDs and ran for another 569 yards and 4 TDs after beginning the season as a WR. If he moves back to WR, U High will also have back Week 1 starter Brevan Shickel who threw for 5 TDs before being lost for the season in Week 4.

Lincoln (3-7)-The Railers started Freshman Kruz Froebe at QB the final 3 games of the season and he showed some potential. Even with 3 wins, Lincoln had a -280 point differential for the season and gave up more than 40 points seven times.

Springfield (3-7)-The Senators have a path to a possible winning season in '27, as they played much better the 2nd half of '26. They will return QB Jacob Scheffler, who started the season at WR, before moving to QB Week 3. Scheffler threw for almost 1,000 yards and 7 TDs and ran for an additional 4 TDs. RB Tyree Sullivan, who ran for almost 600 yards, will also return along with OL-FB-DL Trey Sutton and WR Jackson Jenkins.

QND (4-6)-The Raiders started Kaden Marth at QB near the end of the season, and he will return having gained some valuable experience. Marth is athletic and had a total of 4 TDs in limited action. RB Josh Brenner and WR Tripp Flesch will be back as well. Brenner ran for 665 yards and 5 TDs. Flesch had over 330 yards and 3 TDs.

MacArthur (8-3)-Along with Chatham's Mikey Young, the General's Antonio Young will be the most experienced returning QB in the CS8 in '27. However, Mac will lose RB Cayden Brown and WR-RB-DB Damonte Phillips to graduation. Getting 8 wins next year may be challenging.

Chatham (6-5)-Along with Mac's Antonio Young, Chatham's Mikey Young will be the most experienced returning QB in the CS8. He had over 2,000 yards and 25 TDs in the regular season. The offense could be explosive. Malik Banks and Sean Walker Knight return at RB. Both have excellent speed. WRs Hugo Lopp and Brayden Owen will be back. In the regular season, they combined for over 900 yards receiving and 14 TDs. To move back to the top of the conference, the Titans will need to shore up a defense that gave up 35 or more points 5 times.

Jacksonville (8-2)-The Crimsons have primarily been a running team since the graduation of QB Elijah Owens several years ago. They will return 5 of their top 6 rushers from this season, in which they had great success running against every team except SHG. They get back Jeremiah Jackson (777/11 TDs), QB Rylan Rees (705/11), FB Wesley Ortiz (501/6), Darren Henry (470/13), and Carlito Mitchell (292/2). Rees also threw for nearly 500 yards and 4 TDs.

Other QND names for next year...

Taylor Weiman (DE) - saw significant reps this year as a soph. Likely the name you'll hear a lot about on the QND defense moving forward. His dad and cousins are big names in the program. Hopes are high for this young man.

Andrew Flachs (C, DE) - will likely anchor the O-line next year if I had to guess. Need him to be a leader next season. I think he can and will.

Rowan Stegeman (TE/WR/RB) - a staple hybrid guy for Cornell, moves him into different positions offensively. A big dude with athleticism. Had an awesome TD against SHS this year where he showed that off. Look for him to be one of the focal points next season.

Carson Cirrincone (G, MLB) - a good sized Frosh this season, his father is a QND legend at linebacker. High hopes all around the program for this young man.

Brayden Koch (WR, CB) - will likely be the other viable target, coming into 27, for Marth. Saw a lot of reps on both sides this year. Undersized, but shifty. Hopeful to see him build on this year coming into 27...

2027 Freshman Class - rumblings about some quality kids coming in next season and for a couple to follow. Always exciting to see how they make the transition from JFL to HS...
