Bill Self is probably coaching his last season due to health concerns.I think Kansas first call will be to Golden at Florida and he will take it.
That's because they aren't stupid... Meanwhile Mitch had to go pay BYU to get a coach with a career 63% winning percentage and no tournament wins too come coach UK talking about total mismanagement!!!!

I’ve tried to remain optimistic, but at this point there’s mountains and mountains of subjective evidence that Pope just can’t recruit high schoolers. At all. I’m not sure how you can win at the highest level without an an inflow of elite young talent.

Maybe he pulls off a miraculous 2025 Michigan-esque season. I hope he does. But I find it more likely that J Batt will be flipping through the phone book come March.

I’m not surprised, he was literally using every other team to boost his value. He was always going to UNC. Seems like everyone knows that but our coach. I know he had to go see him and do his due diligence, but I wish he would actually target 3-4 players he really wants other than offer the whole top 25 and get used to raise prices. Class after class the same thing has happened. He was lucky two kids were from the state last year, although only one was an actual good player. That’s all he has pulled outside Hampton who sadly is falling fast in the rankings. Hopefully he turns out undervalued.
You know all 4 coaches flew out to see him this week correct? Even the great Calipari.

He was always waiting out the sweetest deal and went through schools surgically. This wasn't about falling in love with a school/coach/program or development, it was who had the sweetest deal to offer. Kid is a Social Media darling, UNC has Jordan calling him and offering him a shoe deal, $$$ and I'm guessing he'll be their only big signing and Malone promised him a featured role. That's a sweet deal. In Ark, Cal can't give him a featured role as that always runs through his guards and Black has been his priority. Guess is Henry wanted to go to Cal, but between Cal needing a Smith replacement first and not willing to up the $$, didn't work out.

for sure. His brother did the same thing. This has always been UNC to lose. Once Jordan stepped in it was over. How can you turn down Jordan. I don’t blame him. He will be featured at UNC ans get all the money he can want. The main reason pope struggles with wing HS kids is the offensive style. It doesn’t feature someone exclusively and that’s what the top kids want. He needs to adjust his offense to more of free flowing wide open system with the guards and wings running it not the 4/5 if he wants to land these prima Donna wings.

What exactly is the issue with Oats reputation? Anything he does is pittly winks compared to what LSU is doing.

Shared the list elsewhere of those established coaches that are worth approaching: McCasland, Otz, McCollum. I doubt guys like Lloyd, Golden leave.

Some of these coaches may be very selective waiting out some of these other big jobs that may open. A coach that's gone through a P5 clean could be a good option.
What the hell, don’t you think you’re jumping the gun. Must be a slow day, nothing else to occupy the brain.

Recruits do not get to go on NBA television shows to announce for UK, it's just how it is.
MJ also said the ship has sailed and he was glad he didn't release that UK feels good about the recruitment. MJ is finally learning that Pope generally feels good about ALL recruits, and that is his biggest problem, IMO, he can't read the room EVER.

MJ thinks North Carolina, BUT he said he was told by multiple people earlier in the week thinking he is ours. Sounds like a whiff.
Sounds like a UNC lock, if so then the local whiffers will be bellowing it out. If by some reason he goes to Arkansas then the Cal humpers I mean pumpers will be out (sometimes they’re also the whiffers). Now if Pope somehow got him, we’d hear about what a horrible 3pt shooter he is. Me I got my popcorn and going to clean my reading glasses(don’t want to miss a thing)😂😂😂😂

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but the UM model, is just like the UF model, and the UConn model. Transfers and retention.

Kansas in 22 was the last team from the old model, which was still mostly based on retention (same as Baylor, Virginia, Villanova, and UNC)

UM model was all transfers, struck gold. UF model is diff - Golden made that 25 team with a ton of under the radar talent. Condon and Haugh were lower HS prospects, Chinheylu and the three guards were all lower transfers. Give him credit for having a good eye.

Hurley plucks high upside talent that fits his system he knows he can coach up.

And who is that? Please stop with Billy Donovan.

Who is the established coach that's coming over? UK just went through that exercise two years ago and UNC just went through it and landed on Malone. Can't think the UK job is any better than UNC.

Our TarHeels bud certainly doesn't seem to have his signals straight on this one. There is no way UNC is getting Henry and Rosser.

Cal now in an interesting spot. He's down to needing one of Black/Daughtry, which he'll likely get. Williams & Diggs aren't going his way, then have to wonder if he's getting Rosser too, or a reclass. Rosser remains the big mystery now.
Go after Josh Schertz! If you don’t know who he is…look up his career stats!

The people thinking he is ours is probably pope.
If I remember correctly pope and staff all but stopped telling them anything because they can’t keep their mouth shut about anything. KSR group does a lot of clickbait stuff I know that.

Jacque joined the staff last year. He was an NBA assistant for a few years prior to that. We've all seen how going that route works - it's typically an implosion. Look not further than Kevin Ollie, Hubert Davis, etc. The list goes on. If I'm Kansas, I'm finding a proven HC. Anything short of that would be a discredit to their fanbase.

Scheyer was with K for 9 years as an assistant before taking the job, in the only situation I see hiring a player alumnus turned assistant working. And that was at the top brand in the sport that could attract players if you put a mannequin in the job.
Vaughn was the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets

If the truth was known, BYU might have waived the buyout to get rid of him.
Our dumb*** AD was gladly willing to pay $6m for Pope’s buyout. Like BYU wasn’t going to let Mitch shoot himself in the foot. It’s amazing how much we’re getting bullied by freaking BYU of all places thanks to our jackass of a former AD.
